Kicking off the week with more blessed news! A couple of weeks ago, I handed in my work for a book review that my English teacher had assigned us. I had written my review on a book called 'Mother Tongue' by Bill Bryson, a book about the journey of the English language. Today, I got my grade back for it…and it turns out that not only did I get an A+ for it, but I was also awarded an entry into the school’s Golden Book - Alhamdulillah! Can’t wait to go back to school to sign my name in the Golden Book. It’ll be my very first entry of this academic year 2020/2021. But throughout my whole time at KES, this will be about the 9th Golden Book entry in total…as far as I can remember - I’ve lost count!
Golden Blessings,

(Shh reading time) FACTFULNESS
.
Before you PANIC, stop and look/listen at the data!
.
Data is therapy! Before the first 20 pages of the book, your misconceptions of the world will be called out and you won't be able to resist learning more about HOW exactly learned human beings have been getting it wrong all these years regarding - gender equality, rise of population, poverty, life expectancy, natural disasters, access to vaccination, access to electricity, climate change, even about the state of our endangered species'!
.
For years, and leading up to this - his posthumous book Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World--and Why Things Are Better Than You Think, Rosling has tried through his highly entertaining talks to convince the world not to blindly think that the current, or future, levels of population and consumption would do unacceptable damage to the planet or to civil society.
.
Hans Rosling was a Swedish physician, academic, statistician, and one hell of a TED talk rockstar and public speaker. His Ted Talks have been viewed more than 35 times at the time the book was published 2018. He passed away 2017, having devoted the last years of life to FACTFULNESS with his son Ola Rosling and daughter in law Anna. Hans had a habit of swallowing swords after his speeches, partly because he always wanted to join the circus, and also to show his audience how minds can be blown if you just look at something another way (statistics for example). (He explains in the book how he learnt from a circus sword swallower that the act is easier than we think).
.
Rosling's son, Ola Rosling, built the Trendalyzer software to animate data compiled by the UN and the World Bank that helped him explain the world with graphics.
Trendalyzer converts international statistics into moving, interactive graphics. I checked out Gapminder.org. Mindblowing!

Cathy Vatterott(2018)Rethinking Homework: Best Practices That Support Diverse Needs (English Edition)2nd Edition こちら、バターロットさんの本には、序文にいきなり Since the first edition of this book was published in 2009, much has changed, but the controversy surrounding homework has not abated. Research has still been unable to show proof of homework's benefit.
