受疫情困擾的日子，大家都想走向大自然，到郊野地方活動一下，去露營的念頭油然而生。作為露營初哥，對於露營要帶甚麼沒有概念？今日就同大家數一數必備露營用品！如果你的露營用品是租賃或問朋友借用，記得出發前先熟習操作方法，尤其帳篷、天幕等打開和收納方式，以免到荒山野嶺時手忙腳亂。

．帳篷
選擇帳篷需要留意重量、大小及季節，一般來說越輕的帳篷價錢越貴，但的確可以為行裝減輕不少負擔。帳篷大小要按使用人數而定，建議以[人數+1]去選購，即是2人用三人帳篷，因為空間與舒適度成正比，再加上需放置隨身物品，尤其冬天行裝多需要空間就更大。春夏天的帳篷物料宜透氣、有窗口甚至蚊網；秋冬天則講求帳篷保暖防風。

．睡袋
睡袋一般分為木乃伊式和信封式兩種，木乃伊式包覆性比較高，較為保暖，但不適合喜歡轉身的「反瞓」人士；而信封式睡袋將拉鏈拉開可以當被子用。購買時要注意保溫範圍 (Temperature Rating)，說明睡袋適合哪種溫度使用。如果想提升睡眠質素，可以加上充氣床墊，在野外都有一夜好眠。

．天幕
天幕看似可有可無，但其實它可以為露營者帶來舒適的起居空間，因為它能遮風擋雨，亦能隔熱防曬，在天幕下煮食、用餐、嬉戲都很寫意。

．照明設備
在戶外過夜照明設備是必需的，燈具選擇視乎行程和露營場地，如果會在晚上行山的就需配備頭燈或其它行動電源照明燈，方便空出雙手活動。部份燈具還附有滅蚊、風扇等功能，亦要帶備手電筒以防不時之需。

．摺疊桌椅
不想坐在草地或石頭上開餐，就要自備桌椅，選擇時首重輕身及堅固。如果桌子和椅子並非一套購買，記得購買時要配合兩者高度。

．煮食工具
露營用的煮食工具都以輕便為主，想節省空間宜選摺疊式鍋具，通常一個平底鍋加一個湯鍋已可做到煎、炒、煮、烤、燉、蒸等功能。亦可以準備多功能的燜燒鍋，燜煮時可同時準備其它菜式。

．充電器
現代人生活離不開智能電話，所以記得攜帶大容量的充電器，尤其如果會攜帶平板電腦、充電式燈具、風扇等電器，需要用電的情況遠比你想像的多，充電器搭配太陽能充電功能就更理想。

Getting ready for your first camping trip
A checklist for you

We have all been trapped at home for months during the pandemic, and many of us would love to get closer to nature. Hence, the idea of camping outdoors might pop up in our minds. As someone without camping experience, where do you start?

Let us go through a checklist together! If you plan to rent camping gears or borrow them from friends, make sure you learn how to use them, particularly the tent and canopy tent. Learning the proper way of installing and keeping these items can help you avoid a lot of unnecessary troubles.

．Camping tent
Do consider the weight and size of the camping tent, and if it is appropriate for the season. Tents that are lighter in weight are generally more expensive but they can significantly reduce the campers’ burden.

Determine the size of the tent based on the number of campers. We recommend you to follow the formula ‘number of campers +1’, meaning two campers to share a three-person tent. This will give everyone enough space to store his or her items and to chill, particularly during winter.

Opt for tents that are made from breathable materials when camping in spring and summer, and ensure they come with windows and proper mesh to allow air circulation and prevent insects from entering. During autumn and winter, opt for tents with good insulation.

．Sleeping bag
It is generally divided into two types: the mummy and the envelope. The mummy type can retain more heat as it is closed and form fitting, but it is not suitable for individuals who are used to tossing and turning during their sleep. The envelope type is more basic, as one can use it as a blanket once he or she unzips the sleeping bag.

When purchasing a sleeping bag, do take note of its temperature rating, as it will give you a hint of its ability to retain warmth. If you wish to improve your sleep quality, add another layer of inflatable mattress beneath the sleeping bag.

．Canopy tent
Canopy tent may seem negligible, but it will bring great comfort because it can protect campers from wind and rain and function as a shade screen. It would be an enjoyment to cook, dine and play beneath the canopy.

．Lighting equipment
This is exceptionally important for night use, and we should choose the right equipment based on the itinerary and the campsite condition. Headlamps would come in handy for night hiking. While some can repel insects, some even come with a fan to cool users down. It is also good to bring along a torchlight in case of emergency.

．Folding tables and chairs
If you do not wish to eat on the ground or rock then it is wise to prepare your own tables and chairs, which should be sturdy and lightweight. If they do not come from the same set, make sure they are all of the same height.

．Cooking utensils
Opt for portable and foldable lightweight utensils. All you need is just a pan and a stock pot for soup, and they can all be used for frying, cooking, grilling, stewing and steaming. If necessary, bring along a multifunction stew pot so you can prepare more dishes at one go.

．Power banks
It is a known fact that city folks cannot live without smartphones so make sure you prepare high-capacity power banks. If you are planning to bring items that consume high electricity such as notebooks, rechargeable light equipment, and fans, do consider using solar power banks instead.

【我與可惡麥克風的故事】(English writing below)

我的 Blue Yeti 麥克風只用來錄一年的有聲書就掛了，而且是死在錄音要開始時。

我先生到百勝樓的Swee Lee詢問時，也既是我們買那麥克風的店，店員說類似這樣的話：「哦，你用了差不多兩年了，也是時候了。」

這是什麼話啊？不會吧？？？

把麥克風送回美國維修不划算。我也不確定是否要再花$210買回同一個可能比我還早死的麥克風。

於是，我花了很多個晚上來讀網路評價和觀看Youtube影片。坦白說，做後製時，我是聽得出Blue Yeti 錄音很多不足的地方。唯有搭配Voicemeeter Banana這音響軟件一起錄音，音質才會好很多。但這軟件只能使用在Windows. 我也花了很多個夜晚才搜索到這方法。

這些陌生的科技對我這門外漢而言真的很累人。我不是只是個風水師嗎？怎麼在看這些器材的資料呢？

但為了能把師尊的有聲書做的更好，我還是一頭栽進去這令人匪夷所思的音響器材世界裡。堂堂一個資訊科技的碩士生，我先生卻完全無法幫上忙。都說了嘛，現在做女人不容易呀！

長話短說，後來我向 Sennheiser 買了個Neumann TLM102 的麥克風。今天，我購買了一台 Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo Core。這些器材其實應該在四月時就買，但當時太忙而且舉棋不定，而最近器材的價錢都掉了幾百塊。

當初考慮了很多不同價格的麥格風和音頻接口。你知道的，只要一開始閱讀亞馬遜的網路評價和觀看Youtube影片時，就如同走進一間超大的糖果店，而裡頭的一塊巧克力可能就是自己一個星期的薪資，甚至一整個月的血......汗錢，

Sinamex員工的產品知識非常的好，人也很主動熱心。他示範了各品牌的音頻接口如 Apogee DUO, Audient and of course, Universal Audio。其實還沒踏進店裡時，我就已想買Universal Audio這品牌了。聽過店員的解說後，更慶幸沒有在網路上買Focusrite or Apogee。

希望回到家後能夠學會如何操作這非同凡響的器材。我還需要到蘋果買個Thunderbolt電纜。這器材也適合用在Windows的電腦。

我有多次差一點又買回Blue Yeti，因為覺得這些科技太難懂，太麻煩了。但老娘怎麼說也是個新加坡人，怕輸怕死的血液在我身體流著，怎可能笨到同樣的錯誤犯兩次。😁

改變有時真的滿痛苦的，尤其是要花錢、花時間和花精神時，而偏偏這些資糧都不夠。說自己害怕改變，比說自己太驕傲太懶惰不要改變，來得好聽，因為前者能贏來同情，而後者則是輸給了命運。我們新加坡能夠有今天，絕對不是因為我們的建國一代一成不變，而是我們都願意去進步、去爭取、去拼搏、去吃苦。

這個國慶日，讓我們都不要忘記這股勇於嘗試和承擔的精神。新加坡，生日快樂，我以您為榮！謝謝您給予我和我家人的一切！🎉

My Blue Yeti died after one year of weekly usage for audiobook recording, and it died just when our recording session was about to begin.

The Husband asked Swee Lee @ Bras Basah about it. That was where we bought the USB mic. The store staff said something like: “Oh you used for about two years. It’s about there already.”

I was like “what the duck”...

Sending the mic back to USA for repair doesn’t make financial sense. And I’m not sure I want to burn another $210 on a metal mic that is going to die before me.

So I spent nights reading online reviews and watching YouTube videos. To be honest, I hear a lot of inadequacies in the Blue Yeti recording. It only sounds better when I use it with Voicemeeter Banana, an audio application software that can only be used for Windows. Even that took me nights of Googling to find this solution.

It was exhausting. Thought I’m just a Feng Shui practitioner...why am I looking at mics and audio interfaces?

But for the sake of my Grandmaster’s audiobooks, I threw myself head first into this whole alien world of audio tech. The Husband, with a MASTERS in Information Technology, was of ZERO help. #toughbeingawomannowadays

Long story short, I bought a Neumann TLM102 from Sennheniser SG and today I purchased an Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo Core. I was lucky because I should have bought all these in April, when my mic died but I was so busy with work and couldn’t decide what was most suitable. Then the prices went down by a couple of hundreds.

There were many mics and audio interfaces I was considering. You know how it’s like when you start reading Amazon reviews and watching YouTube videos. Macham like walking into a candy store where one piece of chocolate can cost you one week of salary, and some, your entire month of blood supply.

The Sinamex staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. He demonstrated the various audio interfaces like Apogee DUO, Audient and of course, Universal Audio. I had my eyes on UA even before I entered the store. After his explanation, I was glad I didn’t buy the Focusrite or Apogee.

According to the gentleman, the Universal Audio Apollo Twin is also used by Dick Lee, Lin Junjie, Jonathan Koh and Sydney Tan (NDP 2019 music director). #sixdegreelaw #onedegreeclosertoJJLin

I hope I can figure out how to operate this impressive machine back home. I still have to buy a Thunderbolt cable from Apple. This also works with Windows by the way.

All credit goes to Shifu, for being the generous man that lays out the moolah for both the mic and audio interface. He lets me decides what to buy because in his words, a high-level Master doesn't bother himself with all these. Only a low-level one will. Okay, fine, that's me. 😀

There were many times I almost went back to buy a Blue Yeti. It was too difficult and troublesome to figure out all these tech stuff. But hey, I’m a true blue Singaporean. The kiasu and kiasi blood run deep in my veins. How can I be so dumb to make the same mistake twice? 😁

Change can be really painful and uncomfortable, especially when it involves money, time and effort and all these 3 resources are scarce. It’s easier and socially more acceptable to say we are afraid of change, instead of saying we are too proud or too lazy to change. Because the former will win you sympathy while the latter will make you a loser to your own Destiny.

Singapore is where she is today not because of our resistance to change, but for our ready willingness to strive relentlessly, to fight, to endure the pains, etc.

As we celebrate our 54th National Day, let us not forget this spirit of bravado and the quest for new frontiers.

After 5 months traveling in SEA, Let's talk about the latest thing just happened to me.

其實幾乎每天都有新的暴怒秒斷線場景發生，也瘋狂地都想寫出來讓大夥兒知道旅行路上到底藏匿了多少不知道；但要碼是決定打開滿背包的酒精喝他一個暢快，要碼是還是想出外跟著路上新歡探一探新的處女帶；再加上新電腦第二次爆炸掉，總總加上林林，唉還是先來說說我最新產出的暗事吧

I was booking through Hostelworld to stay at Vang Viang rock backpacker hostel for 2 nights which the price showns about 23k kip (around $2.9 ) per night (8000 kip is a dollar) as you need to prepaid the service fee to the searching website, so I was paying $1.32 n leave the rest of the $4.68 while check in. However the owner of the hostel was show up with total amount of 60k I need to pay for 2 nights stay, after I remind him I prepaid some on line already n he was replied back "yes yes OK OK" then kept on repeating 60k I need to pay, so I wasn't really pay too much attention on it, since I was tired by the long ride plus I thought I did my confirm already.

有高於一半多一點的機會我會在到下一個目的地前先網上訂好房，沒為啥因為這些個國家網路之爛還有所謂的“ XX 時間 （請自行放入各國家名）” 簡單來講就是時間表聽聽就好別當真。

不管怎樣，在原應開四小時最多五小時就能到的地方，因為司機想多沿街拉點人填飽點口袋餵飽點全家，我凌晨三點半（開了十二小時）才被丟到空無一人的荒野街上，半猜半走半驚慌的終於找到我該住的青旅。查價時還是很爽的，近乎150天平均住宿約莫落在100塊，最最貴也不過165，跟其他地區動輒3、400起跳的除了沒冷氣、沒廚房、衛生環境很差、大抵沒有交流區、比起說青旅倒不如說是住民宿別人家、沒人能講英文、網路永遠連不上線、櫃台永遠都找不到人之外倒也沒辦法抱怨什麼。

There for, I took out the only 100k I was having (there was only a 100k n a 2000rip note in my wallet) however the owner was shows up with loads of note front of me also started to count: "1000, 1000, 1000, 2000, 1000, 2000, oh I don't have enough! I own you 2000" .
I was feeling there's something wrong, but since he was kept telling me "this is OK, this is OK, I own you 2000 with a big smile" so I wasn't really think too much just took the deck of thousands n went back to my room.

總而言之呢， 頂著一副反正我已經打理好不知道哪來還學不到教訓的自信心，及平白因為大巴誤點浪費了一天床費的我走到了櫃台邊想Check in。“好哦，倆個晚上（連昨晚）六萬kip (8k 老撾幣= 1美金= 30台幣 )”， 因為長途巴士的關係其實我的精神還頗遭雖然說我有覺得對這六萬好像沒啥記憶點跟連接點，但是憑著掌櫃的持續不斷像唸RAP一樣的一直跟我說六萬六萬六萬六萬倆個晚上付我六萬，再丟了一句我網上有先付過手續費囉之下，掏出了我錢包中僅有的一張100k (10萬) 然後再看著他掏出整個口袋後開始算錢給我看：
1000、1000、1000、2000、1000、2000啊我欠你2k

I was in room while I tried to sorted my things out also put the change back to my wallet there comes just a thought, how much did I exactly booked per night? So I opened my Gmail n checked the price again, it is writing 6 dollars in total (48k kip, even you count the rate a bit higher then it should be around 50k), but I was been asking for 60k, there was even some prepaid bill already, there is no reason he charged me even higher amount then what I should have to pay, I was getting quite panic n recall back the memory then there comes more of it: I was hung the owner 100k, even he charged me 60k, I still should have the 40k change back, but he was tricking me with those thousand note, so instead of 40k, I got 8k withing pure thought he owns me 2k, what's a play, what a jerk.

其實我還是覺得很奇怪，從頭到尾。可是腦子真的轉不太動，加上他一直用傳直銷那種震撼人心的精神喊話附送一個招牌笑容；所以莫名其妙之下我就半抓著頭邊上樓了。倚著床坐下，好奇心驅使之下我還是試著重開Gmail想確定一下我到底訂的價錢是多少，沒想到不開還好一開嚇到，我明明總房費只需6美金（48k）就好啊，他跟我要了60k，再加上我事前早就預付了差不多12k，他還在那邊堆著笑跟我OK OK？

瞬間我又覺得不妙，翻了一翻他找給我的錢臉拉的又更沈了，你媽媽的果真只有8k？就算依著他的60k 加他嘴裡說的欠我2k好了，剩下的38k 咧？

I went to tried argue with the owner, he was totally denied it, says the hostel will never charge the price so low till I showed him the proof from my Gmail then he turned down n said I was giving him 70k only n he did pay me back the money already. As the Q & A is like catching ball I see this ain't go no where, so I asked him to call back the video which he did, because I started to get some quiet attention already (which is good).

房裡的小夥伴們聲聲催促著我別再算了，趕快下樓找他對帳，我也覺得沒錯時間拖得越久越容易裝傻賴帳，於是我下樓又重新霹靂啪啦蹦地把事情經過跟他重覆一遍；沒想到他真的開始演台劇八點檔了... 一下跟我說他已經找錢完畢了，一下瞪大眼睛跟我裝傻說青旅哪有可能有這價錢，一直到我開了信箱給他看我的訂單收據，他才換口說好吧好吧那我給你預付的錢，丟了一張20k 給我後，我繼續跟他討著我那消失的欠款，那想到他口口聲聲換咬定著我只給他70k了。

On the screen I can clearly see I did only giving him one note which is a 100k note, but 2 note as 1 50k n 1 20k like he said, so I was calling n said see its only one, then I realized him wasn't even watching the screen. I was getting angry, there are 3 people (include 2 other guests) checking the screen together with me, as we all confirmed that I did passing him only one note, but he just kept pretending busy as there are other things to do then this situation: Try wave to air, even there are no people, say hi to other guests while they walk down stairs, pretend there's nothing happened. I was showing him 5 times in total on the screen, but he always tells me he didn't see, so I just have to keep rewind back to let him see it. During the meantime, these two men also came up to asking for overcharged, I was getting surprised, we got to talked in private n realized he was using that same same but different trick to them as well, so I walk to the couple who they are in my room, tell them what we just found, then they also found out they were paying for 4 dorm room, but got putting in 10 dorm in the end with the charging price still keeping as higher one 4.. The owner was excuses he wouldn't put any more guest inside to make it a 4 people dorm, the young couple were buying it for endding up the whole messed situation and at the end I was just able to get back my "missing 2000 n another prepaid bill 20k, all the rest is just end up as the owner started to avoid me n so this is kind of the end of this shitty story.

剪不清理還亂神經還驟斷的情況下，我叫他把監視器調出來看，他照著做了，因為我一直在櫃台邊的關係，開始有房客開始默默關注我們的動態（有人氣就有牆壁）他開了影片，我立馬衝到櫃台裡盯著銀幕看，果真，清楚地紀錄下我伸給他一張10萬的鈔票，而非他口中一張50k、一張20k的兩張共70k的鈔票，搖擺得意的扭頭過去大叫：你看，我給你一張10萬的同時發現他根本就沒在看；再跟他說一次剛剛顯示了我確實給你一張10萬鈔票之後，他竟然鬼打牆的接著照說你給我7萬。於是我們就這樣來來回回的重複著我倒轉影帶叫他看然後他硬是忙著用手摸一摸桌上的文件資料，裝著跟對面根本就沒人的空氣打招呼說嗨之下，整整五次，我重調給鬼看影帶。

講話的途中，另外兩個男生也臨櫃吵了他們也被多收錢的事情（瞬間覺得不對，所以我開始低聲錄影），然後馬上衝去跟另一對同房的情侶說情況，要他們確認他們的支付情況有無異狀，結果一問之下他們也立刻查帳發現他們當初訂的根本是四人房而非現在的十人房，價錢卻被照算四人間...短短的十分鐘，連我在內總共有五個人被憑空收費，你問我為何不喜歡東南亞，這就是為啥我討厭東南亞，你以為便宜耶賺到了，沒有！只要你離開啥都包好好的旅行團，你就會發現你何止被多收錢，還另外加上少於應有的對待。

Oh BTW, I changed to another hostel which is just about 230m away from it, instead of last hostel charged me 8500 kip per dollar (you still gotta pay in kip) they were giving me a much reasonable 8200 kip per dollar.

我最後有沒有拿回錢？沒有！
雖然真的很氣也很想叫警察，但是不說你不知道東南亞的警察又會是另一個故事的開端...

我終究離開了那青旅，多走了另外230米又進了另一間青旅，價錢一般般差不多也有附早餐，1美金的匯率也只算了高正常一點的8200，而不是前一間的8500。

Check the bill always, make sure you got your ticket, if anyone come ask you for what ever entrance fee, also make sure that ticket have been used meant they kept recycling the used one to gain some more pocket money.

有沒有影響我，有！
看我浪費了8個整個小時在這裡敲手機就是了。

你說我教你們要let go,
這就是我let go的方式，何況待會我要帶著Vodka去飲料攤叫她搖一搖水果之後順便加冰跟加酒。

You will get a loads more to learn, the world is big and you are just a kid. However do enjoy SEA, I don't too much because of the people, but I hope you do, with my full blessed.

你說東南亞究竟怎樣？

買單前查一下單、買票前看一下你跟誰買票，他的制服穿了沒、他的票給你了沒、你的票一拿到就已經打過洞撕過角了嗎？瞄一下當地人拿到的標準跟你拿到的標準是不是一樣；有些東西不知道比較好，知道了腦筋更糾結心理更難過- 我真心覺得很難過的是這個小小的東南亞是我旅行這麼長一路來第一次吧斷聽到許多旅人跟我分享他們經過這次的旅行後他們不會願意在在同個地區停留太久避免知道太多原本短呆不會發現的更深的另一面。

我曾經很喜歡一位土地藝術家說過的 “旅行，就是為了看見異同” 的這樣一句話，但是次時此景想到了這句美麗的話卻被賦予了另一種意義，總覺得心中有點不那麼甜的滋味。

我一個人旅行， 人對我而言的重要性真的更甚於景給我的震撼性；幾年下來的整體經歷我真的很訝異我對東南亞的低評價甚至更遜於中國的有錢說話跟德國的不關他的事！我不願跟你們承認我一路遇上的旅人們出乎意料的都轉換了他們來之前之後對東南亞的態度，但是我覺得我有必要說，有必要分享，誠如我一開頭就講的每個人的旅途不一樣，會經歷上的也不盡相同，如果能多點準備，就會少點中招跟多點對旅程上的感謝。
