1 or 2?
2019 was the year i had my highest of highs, but also the lowest of lows. i rose and i fell. i had always believed in hard work and determination, but with my addictive and workaholic personality, together with ego and pride, i slowly let anxiety, stress and constant self-criticism take over my life. i couldnt deal with the fact that sometimes things just wouldn’t go the way i wanted or hoped. even little challenges along the way would already drive me to the edge, as if it was the end of the world. towards the end of the year, i became someone who radiated 100% negative energy (poor chad, mama & papa wong). i was well aware that i lived an extremely lucky and amazing life, and that made me dislike myself even more for not being as happy and grateful as i should be. social media brought me up to where i am now living this dream-life, but i also allowed it to pull me down and become the most toxic presence in my life that i couldn’t seem to get away from. i knew i was the only one who could make the choice and decision to change - my mentality, attitude, habits, and work life balance. coming here to africa for 2.5 weeks to experience and see such different lifestyles, with not much internet access on the road, was definitely the best way to start and reset 2020 for me. it’s been a long time since i allowed myself to take a long break which would have given me such anxiety before, fearing i would miss work and deadlines. for the first time in my life, all my goals this year are not related to chasing numbers. i want to learn to be happy and at peace with myself, to be present, not to drive myself crazy with things that are out of my control - the list is too long for the caption word limit here but 2020, no matter what challenges come my way, i am ready for you. it’s finally time to work on myself, my real life, and not just the numbers.
