Recently I had a director who sat me down on one of the set next to him at the monitor and tell me (it's my second time working with him in #TVC ) : "Ruby, you know what? Thank you for giving me what you have for me on-screen. You are very talented. So is xxx (an actor friend), but I keep thinking to myself, how can I help you guys to survive? I need someone who has souls like you to be working with me. " It's so soothing to see someone that cares so much for his talents & sees what I have to offer. At times, when you work in an environment and you know there are someone, just one soul #onset who believes in your work, that is all I really need. It makes me feel I want to spread my wings and give the best of me for the camera. They give me confidence that I can do it, without any hesitation. And I did. Two set-ups, one took 35minutes to set-up, I did it in one take. And we moved to the next location. Felt great when director smiled and say: "Next location!" And I went in my head: "What was that?? That's it ?? Wait a minute, are you sure we've got the shot!" Director replied: "You gave me exactly what I needed. Thank you!" Second set up was at 715am since the night before we rolled the camera with many different sets involving many talents, two story boards by the way, that ended up two takes for me in the morning & we wrapped everything up by before 8am. To be honest, my brain was already sleeping when I am driving. Though whatever that director has told me, it felt like i am dreaming & that constant projection in my head of what it's been said to me while occupying myself on the wheels that's keeping me awake on the road from almost an hour journey back home.
