“Remember to bring snacks” ... yes. Food is all I think about. LOL.

If there’s something else that @joelebosi loves, it is mountains and volcanoes.

Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano and is the highest peak in the Hawaiian islands.

When measured from its oceanic base, it is the tallest mountain in the world rising to 13, 796 feet above sea level.

Our tour guide Bear of @arnottslodgeandhikingadventure , was very patient, informative and entertaining. Plus, he was an expert driving us up to the summit safely and in comfort inside his 4wd (some roads were really bumpy and steep!).

We took a break at Mauna Kea’s Visitor Information Station (VIS) to acclimatize to the higher altitude and to cover up. It was getting really cold and windy, and was told, once the sun sets, temperatures would go down drastically more.

With its high elevation, dry environment and stable airflow, Mauna Kea’s summit is one of the best sites in the world for astronomical observation. Azmi felt a bit light-headed upon reaching the summit (which I found out much later), but after a few deep breaths, he was feeling better and propped his camera gear ready to capture the sunset (which was breathtaking to say the least).
It occurred to me now, how different people react to higher altitudes.

I felt a sense of calm here – read up much later that in Hawaiian mythology, this place is very sacred and highly spiritual. I did some meditation and once the sun set, we drove back down to the VIS.

Clocking in at the 9,200 elevation, the VIS provides one of the world’s best places to view the entire expanse of the night sky. Bear then took us to a spot, just a walking distance from the parking lot after we had our hot chocolate drink, to gaze at the stars.

Unlike my starry-eyed husband, I lacked knowledge in the milky way but I enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

【How safe is your home?】

As CES fast approaches, startups and corporates alike are getting ready to showcase some of their best products and services for the world. As the global stage for innovation, CES serves as a platform for startups to get the chance to meet potential investors, customers, and press.

IoT is always a big topic at CES, with products ranging from smart fridges to surveillance cameras to voice assistants. By 2022, worldwide spending on IoT is expected to reach US$ 1.2T according to the IDC, so we can continue to see milestones made in the world of IoT by some of these companies and startups.

One such technology being developed is a smart home security surveillance camera by Deep Sentinel. It perfectly blends using AI and a human touch to keep your homes and neighborhoods safe. It was founded by serial entrepreneur, David Selinger, who also founded Amazon's data science team. His co-founder Winston Chen is also an alumni of AppWorks Accelerator. The weather-proof cameras can detect who or what is moving and will turn on its strobing, red lights to signal they are recording. The recording is seen by real security staff who are able to determine whether a crime is happening and can alert the police in real-time.

We trekked through the rice terraces in Sapa, visited some exclusive spots and saw 0 tourists on the way ! It was definitely one of the best days of our trip in Vietnam. On our last day, we visited the highest mountain in Vietnam (& Indochina), Fansipan (3143m above sea level).

We didn’t have the best start at our third day in Vietnam. On the way to Ninh Binh, someone tried to steal my bag, we had to spend 2 hours on a train infested with cockroaches but after that we spent the most amazing two days surrounded by nature in Ninh Binh. Tip: explore Vietnam by scooter !
ベトナムのニンビンに向かっている最中でスリに合いそうだったり、ゴキブリがたくさんいる電車で２時間以上過ごしたり。。。でも、ニンビンに到着した後、最高に綺麗な自然に囲まれている２日間を過ごすことができました！ベトナムでスクーターで自由に探索することがおすすめ！^^
