模糊隨想
我正在前往蘇格蘭的火車上。
窗外的草原平坦遼闊，天空是綿延無邊的大塊雲層，雲朵的邊緣透出北國特有的清澈光線，一種讓人心中浮現讚美造物者神奇的景象，這使你理解為何米開朗基羅在聖彼得教堂壁畫上要如此細膩地臨摹天空。各色的草田向地平線延伸，像是不同款式的地毯。有些有著特殊的修剪紋理，有些有著橘色或黃色的花叢在其間錯落，還有些是綿羊、馬兒或牛群在上面做點綴。田野間座落零星的石造小屋和尖塔，像是童書繪本裡的插畫。而一切，正如我十六歲那年夏天的記憶。
這又讓我想起第一次聽見披頭四 Good Day Sunshine 的那個早晨。
同年，我開始聽搖滾樂，也是第一次聽到 Blur 的 Parklife。隔年，Britpop 史上最經典的戰役爆發，Blur 和 Oasis 在同一天發行新單曲，英國媒體更渲染成新潮雅痞與草根勞工的大對決。我沒有什麼理由地選擇了站在壞嘴兄弟那一方，還因此對 The Great Escape 產生了莫名的厭惡，特別是 MV 又帥又痞的 The Universal 被當時的我視為一種反搖滾的象徵。直到多年後，我在 Summersonic 第一次看 Blur 演出，卻一邊聽著這首歌一邊感動到幾乎落淚。後來我回想此事，得到了一個結論：永遠不要在意文青為什麼討厭你，因為可能連他自己都搞不清楚原因，甚至可能是一種愛的表現。
這回是我第二次看 Blur，中間相隔了 12 年。當然，這兩次樂團的狀態是截然不同的，在日本那次少了 Graham Coxon，儘管感覺得出 Damon 特別賣力，但還是少了點什麼。而這次恰恰相反，Graham 的角色很吃重，Damon 則顯得游刃有餘。至於感受到兩人內心交流最強的，應該就是 Coffe And TV 和 Out Of Time 這兩首歌連發了。兩人互相伴奏對方的歌，一種盡在不言中的前嫌盡釋。
延續專輯的香港製造概念，這場演唱會從舞台佈置到周邊商品，全部充滿了香港元素。說實在那種感覺很奇妙，是一種既親切又嫉妒的滋味。根據先前看到的一些報導，Blur 之所以會有多出的空檔在香港做音樂，完全是因為台灣的場次被惡性倒閉的主辦單位取消造成，而身為至今沒有拿回四千元票款的苦主，看到好鄰居因而成為新專輯靈感來源，心中難免五味雜陳。但好在，會場無所不在的繁體中文彌補了一些缺憾，且從舞台上裝置的三盞八卦鏡造型燈、和巨幅 LED 牆上融合香港和英國風的影像，我著實感到強烈的文化衝擊，那些平時在我們生活周遭不屑一顧的東方元素，反倒在西方人手中有了新的生命。
除了香港之外，新專輯還有一個特別之處，就是它完全是在 Graham 主導下完成的。在香港錄製的東西其實都是許多不完整的片段，巡迴結束後團員又各奔東西忙自己的事：Damon 去做個人專輯、貝斯手回去顧農場，只有 Graham 找了前製作人一起，開始把那些破碎的錄音整理成歌，像是一種對自己當年離團所做的補償。Damon 在台上感謝他的語氣特別不同，想必心裡一定為此十分感動吧。從小一起長大的死黨，年近半百時用音樂來彌補年輕氣盛所造成的遺憾，其實想起來還蠻感人的。
不知道西皮什麼時候會補償我一張專輯。
和多年前一樣，演唱會最後也是結束在 The Universal。當 Damon 仰頭向天空伸出雙臂，前奏一下，我便又反射性地感動滿溢了。霓虹八卦鏡加上LED上天燈祈福的影片，搭配著悠揚的管弦樂和整個海德公園的合唱，在這片完全莫名其妙的拼貼所湧現的美感裡，我完全不知道自己看到了什麼，但那真的不重要了。
