孕期健脾去水腫湯
水腫是其中一個孕婦最關心的課題,最怕陀B時身形肥腫難分,有些孕媽媽雙腳水腫嚴重到只能穿拖鞋。從中醫角度來看,水腫是很常見的妊娠症狀,多為脾虛、腎虛所致,脾虛不能運化水濕,引致水腫,亦有因為氣鬱阻滯引起,用手指按下去,皮膚凹陷處不會立即回復,表示有水腫情況。一般去水腫食材屬性偏寒涼,不適合孕媽媽們食用,懷孕期間宜食用屬性平和的眉豆、赤小豆、淮山、茯苓、扁豆衣及陳皮,有助紓緩水腫。如果水腫集中在雙腳,除了飲用去水腫湯水,睡覺時用枕頭墊起雙腳也有幫助。
食材小貼士:
眉豆性平,有健脾和胃功效,適合脾胃虛弱引起的消化不良、腹脹等症狀。適合各類體質包括痛風人士食用。注意容易便秘人士不宜多食。
節瓜淮山眉豆湯
功效:健脾祛濕安胎,紓緩身體經常感覺疲倦、四肢困重、水腫等症狀。
材料:節瓜2個、新鮮淮山1根、粟米1根、赤小豆30克、眉豆30克、腰果40克、茯苓20克、陳皮1角
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨,節瓜及鮮淮山去皮切塊,粟米去衣留鬚切段備用。
2. 鍋中加入2000毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。

Soup to relieve water retention during pregnancy
Water retention is one of pregnant moms’ major concerns. They are afraid they cannot tell the difference between weight gain and water retention. In some cases, their water retention problem becomes so severe that they can only wear slippers.
From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, water retention is common among pregnant moms due to their weak spleen and kidneys. When the spleen is incapable of circulating fluid in the body, water retention happens. The stagnation of qi could also be one of the causes. If we experience water retention, we can press on an area with our finger and find that the indentation on that part of the skin would remain indented for some time.
Most of the ingredients used to relieve water retention are cool in nature, and they are not suitable for pregnant moms. It is best to consume ingredients that are mild in nature, such as black-eyed pea, rice bean, Chinese yam, poria, hyacinth bean coat, and dried citrus peel, as they can relieve the condition. If your water retention issue is concentrated at your feet, you should drink the right soup and sleep with your legs elevated by cushioning them with a stack of pillows.
Tips on ingredient:
Black-eyed peas can strengthen the spleen and stomach. Relieves indigestion and stomach bloating due to asthenic spleen and stomach. Suitable for all body types, but not for those prone to constipation. Suitable for people with gout.
Hairy gourd and Chinese yam soup with black-eyed peas
Effects:
Ingredients: 2 hairy gourds, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 1 corn, 30g rice bean, 30g black-eyed peas, 40g cashew nuts, 20g poria, 1 dried citrus peel
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Cut the peeled hairy gourd and Chinese yam into pieces. Remove husks from corn and cut into pieces.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hour. Add salt to taste.

#Patience increases our threshold of tolerance. It gives us the foresight to expect obstacles on our path and to deal with them diplomatically. It was years of battles against my premenopausal hormones which began peaking in 2016, I was struggling with weight, dry wrinkly eyes, all kinds of skin problems and worst of all, depression. Knowing and understanding that it was just a phase in our lives, I told myself that it would be over one day, so I made myself focus on one thing, MYSELF. I worked on fine-tuning my diet and switching up my workout routines etc..setting mini goals like fixing my dislocated finger, old injuries, I wanted nice abs, defined back muscles, thinning my trapezius muscles, the whole nine yards...Just to distract myself from those unpleasant moments.
Remember, your number one enemy is Cortisol, a #StressHormone that often causes depression and weight gain. Google "Cushing syndrome" and you'll know if it's affecting you. I learned about #CushingSyndrome during my yoga teacher training. It's too obvious that I was suffering from that, look at that picture of mine. My face was constantly swelling up on and off to the size of a wide screen TV.
Patience brings hope. It brings a continued renewal of belief in our desired goals and in the heights we are striving to achieve. When we are hopeful, we have a natural resilience and willingness to keep trying because we trust in the process and the possibility of a good outcome. I certainly did!!

虛胖體質減肥法
減肥是一輩子的使命,但有種朋友就是苦無對策,本身已吃得不多但總是有點胖,遇著新年假期,一時嘴饞吃多了點頓時身型暴漲,肥腫難分。其實這類人可能是虛胖,多有肌肉鬆弛浮腫,來看看自己是不是屬於這類型,再好好對症下藥。
氣虛型肥胖
特徵:氣短、易頭暈、舌邊有齒痕、食少腹脹、多汗、面部浮腫、肌肉鬆軟、肥腫難分
原因:氣是身體能量,氣虛的人能量不足以吸收營養及排走廢物。
減肥法則:補氣強身,適量進食黨參、北芪、太子參、薯仔等補氣食材,戒吃生冷及辛辣食物。
合適運動:強度小的運動,如太極、步行、伸展運動等,注意要循序漸進。
陽虛型肥胖
特徵:怕冷、氣短、面部浮腫、腹脹、大便稀爛、自汗多、夜尿頻密。
原因:身體熱能不足,新陳代謝緩慢,脂肪容易積聚。
減肥法則:提升陽氣,多吃助陽食物,例如羊肉、生薑、蟲草、高麗參等,忌吃生冷食物及凍飲。
合適運動:強度小的運動,如太極、步行、伸展運動等,也可在陽光底下散步及慢跑增加陽氣,注意要循序漸進。
Fat burn for those with asthenic weight
Weight loss may be a lifetime mission, but some people cannot improve their weight no matter how hard they try. They eat less but are still chubby. After eating too much during the holidays, they gain weight very quickly. In fact, this type of people may have asthenic weight, which means loose and bloated muscles. Qi deficiency asthenic weight
Characteristics: shortness of breath, prone to dizziness, teeth marks on the side of tongue, abdominal bloating after eating a little, excessive sweating, bloated face, loose muscles, hard to distinguish between obesity or edema
Causes: qi is the energy of the body. A person with qi deficiency does not enough energy to absorb nutrients and dispel waste.
Weight loss rules: replenish qi and strengthen your body. Appropriately consume ingredients that can replenish qi such as codonopsis root, astragalus root, radix pseudostellariae and potato. Avoid cold/raw and spicy food.
Appropriate exercises: low-intensity, such as Tai Chi, walking, stretching, etc. Remember to do it step by step.
Yang deficiency asthenic weight
Characteristics: aversion to cold, shortness of breath, bloated face, abdominal bloating, loose stools, frequent unexplained sweating and urinating frequently at night
Causes: insufficient thermal energy in the body, slow metabolism, and easy accumulation of fat.
Weight loss rules: improve yang qi, eat more ingredients that can nourish yang, such as lamb, ginger, cordyceps, Korean ginseng, etc. Avoid cold/raw food and drinks.
Appropriate exercises: low-intensity exercise, such as Tai Chi, walking, stretching, etc. You can also take a walk and jog in the sun to increase yang qi. Remember to do it step by step.
