Super Hornet crash
A US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet crashed into the Philippine Sea during a routine training mission. The great news is that the pilot and the Weapon Systems Officer ejected safely and will be added to the Martin Baker lists.
The Rhino operated from the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and after it hit the sea, both crew were recovered by an MH-60S Seahawk from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8.
The TR has Carrier Air Wing 11 embarked and that wing has Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154 "Black Knights" ('NH-1xx') assigned as the F/A-18F squadron. The squadron was conducting routine pilot proficiency training during the crash.
Theodore Roosevelt returned to sea on 4 June 2020 after spending more than two months in Guam battling a COVID-19 outbreak that infected more than 1,200 crew members and resulted in one death.

For your sakes, I, mrbrown, woke up Seven Early Eight Early on a Monday morning to go see Japan’s JS Izumo helicopter carrier.
It is a thing of beauty. This is the second time the Izumo is here in Singapore and my first time visiting the vessel.
I am told, on good authority, that it does not transform into a giant robot.
I am also told it doesn’t carry jets. I smiled and winked when I heard that.

Operation in Japan
