Skechers Friendship Walk 2021 starts today! It may be a virtual event but it is still a good chance for us to have some family time, exercise safely and most importantly teach the kids to be resilient and get back up after a fall.
While we need to wear our masks and stay in pairs when we go for our outdoor walks these days, we are still determined to clock 50k steps, which is equivalent to 38km, in the next couple of weeks! Do you think we can do it? I sure hope so. Fresh air will definitely do me some good but we intend to stay away from crowds and stick to nature reserves for our walks.

解決頑固石頭瘡
暗瘡為不少人帶來煩惱,除了影響外表,遇上頑固的石頭瘡更會紅熱腫痛,石頭瘡屬於聚合性痤瘡,比一般暗瘡體積為大,按下去較硬身而且有可能出現紅腫疼痛,因為閉口無法擠出膿頭,消退時間比較長。
中醫理論認為石頭瘡與氣血虛弱有關,氣血循環欠佳令體內產生瘀血,別以為生暗瘡因為熱氣引起於是飲涼茶解決,寒涼之物會令陽氣內伏,反而令問題惡化,需要做的是活血化瘀再調補氣血使膿頭托出,繼而清熱解毒。
想預防石頭瘡形成,還是要養成健康生活習慣,作息定時,避免熬夜;早晚洗面,記得徹底卸掉化妝及防曬霜;避免進食生冷食物以免寒氣及濕氣在體內形成;進行適量運動,改善身體氣血運行,運動排汗亦有助推出皮膚的深層污垢。
紓緩石頭瘡茶療
功效:涼血消腫,紓緩石頭瘡症狀。
材料:赤芍9克、生地12克、黃芪9克
做法:材料洗淨,鍋內加入約800毫升水,加入所有材料,武火煮滾轉文火煮40分鐘。建議一星期飲用2-3天,連續兩星期為一個療程。

Dealing with the stubborn cystic acne
People view acne as a nuisance because acne affects a person’s appearance. Those with the more stubborn cystic acne might even experience pain and swelling. Cystic acne is a type of acne conglobate and is larger as compared to regular ones.
When a person presses on a cystic acne, he or she can feel its hardness. The acne might also swell and cause pain. Since there are no openings on the acne, the person cannot squeeze the pus out. This also means it will take longer for the acne to go away.
The Chinese Medicine theories believe cystic acne is related to the weakness in the blood and qi, as the lack of circulation in the qi and blood would cause blood stasis. It is crucial to understand that heat accumulated in the body is not the cause of cystic acne. Hence, drinking herbal tea would not relieve the condition. In fact, it might further aggravate the skin problem as foods and drinks that are cool and cold in nature can disturb the yang energy. It is important to invigorate the blood and clear the stasis first before replenishing the qi and the blood. By doing so can encourage the formation of the opening and subsequently the removal of the pus.
To prevent cystic acne from forming, we still need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Keep your biological clock on track and avoid sleeping late. Cleanse our face every morning and evening, and remember to remove makeup and sunscreen thoroughly. Avoid eating raw and cold foods to prevent cold and damp air from accumulating in the body. Exercise regularly to improve the circulation of the qi and blood. Sweating can also flush out the dirt accumulated on the skin.
Stubborn cystic acne healing tea
Effects: cools blood, relieves the symptoms of cystic acne
Ingredients: 9g red peony root, 12g rehmannia glutinousa, 9g astralagus
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Combine all ingredients with 800ml of water and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 40 minutes. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days. Two weeks for a treatment.

飲食不節慎防三高
朱先生:「最近做身體檢查,醫生說我在『三高』邊緣,如何解決這個中年危機?」
CheckCheckCin:「三高」即高血壓、高血糖及高血脂,可說是都市人的富貴病,長期飲食不節,經常進食高脂肪、高糖份、高鹽份食物,再加上缺乏運動、壓力大、作息不正常等因素,令各種身體指數超標。西醫會以各種藥物來降低血壓、血糖及血脂,而從中醫角度來看需要改善體質,必須改變生活習慣,才能從根源上緩解「三高」症狀。一般來說痰濕、血瘀及陰虛體質人士比較容易患上「三高」,因為痰濕體質人士脾氣虛弱,水液運化失調;血瘀體質人士則血脈不通;陰虛體質人士作息顛倒容易令血壓上升。
想改善「三高」情況,宜諮詢註冊中醫師對症下藥調理體質,飲食上宜清淡,多菜少肉,減少外食或加工食品,避免進食高脂肪、高糖份、高鹽份的食物;養成定期做運動的習慣,一星期最少三次,每次最少30分鐘,強度以輕微出汗為宜;避免晚睡熬夜;尋找合適的減壓方法,因為焦慮不安等負面情緒也會導致血壓上升。
山楂黑木耳茶
功效:活血涼血,紓緩肥胖、高血脂等症狀。
材料:山楂15克、黑木耳15克
做法:材料切絲,洗淨放保溫瓶,以熱開水沖洗一遍,再注入熱開水焗10分鐘即可。此茶可反覆沖泡至味淡,建議一星期飲用2-3次,連續兩星期為一個療程。
注意:孕婦不宜飲用。

Unhealthy diets and ‘the three highs’
“I just completed a body check-up recently, and the doctor told me I’m at risk of getting the three highs. What can I do to solve this mid-life crisis?”
CheckCheckCin: The three highs refer to high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol, and urban dwellers tend to have these problems. Poor dietary habits such as consuming foods that are high in cholesterol, sugar, and sodium, and the lack of exercise, inability to cope with stress, and unhealthy lifestyle would cause a spike in the readings.
According to Chinese Medicine, aside from using medication, an individual should improve the body constitution and lead a healthier lifestyle if he or she wishes to get these conditions under control.
In general, individuals with the damp heat, blood stasis, and yin-deficient body constitutions would develop the three highs more easily. Individuals with a damp heat body constitution have asthenic qi and spleen, and the fluid would stagnate easily in the body. Those with the blood stasis constitution may experience the stagnation of the blood and the vein. People with a yin-deficient constitution will experience a spike in their blood pressure if they constantly mess with their biological clock.
To improve the condition of the three highs, consult registered and licensed Chinese physicians, so they can prescribe you the right medicine and customize treatment for you.Eat lighter food, take more vegetables and cut down on meat, reduce eating out and processed food, and avoid eating foods that are high in cholesterol, sugar, and sodium.
Cultivate the habit of exercising regularly. Make it a point to exercise and sweat three times a week, and each session should last at least 30 minutes. Avoid sleeping late and find the most appropriate way to relieve your stress, as negative emotions can also trigger a surge in the blood pressure.
Chinese hawthorn tea with Black fungus
Effects: Activates and cools blood, relieves obesity and hyperlipidemia.
Ingredients: 15g dried Chinese hawthorn, 15g black fungus
Preparation: Cut the ingredients into slices and place into the thermos. Rinse with hot water once. Then add in hot water again and steep for 10 minutes. This tea can be rebrewed until its flavor weakens. For best results, drink consecutively for 2-3 days a week. Two weeks for a treatment.
Note: Not suitable for pregnant women.

居家自體重的上半身運動往往集中於推的動作,胸肌及肱三頭肌偏強;拉的機會較少,背部及肱二頭肌易疏於鍛煉,後方肌肉相對偏弱,導致駝背、寒肩、探項等姿勢不良的問題
所以,以相同耗力感覺來說,我們建議拉背與推胸的動作次數應該達到一比一以上的比例
引體上升 Pull Up,除了係強健背部的例牌動作,其實亦被譽為『自體重鍛煉之王』 (King of Bodyweight Exercise) 。 是故 2015年警隊試行新入職體能測試,以手握力測試代替沿用近30年的引體上升,就被質疑是為了遷就體能不足的新人,取巧放寬標準。就算日後有幸能熬過武漢肺炎,可以到健身房使用啞鈴槓鈴,引體上升仍然應該是訓練課表不可或缺一部份
如果不能到公園,可以在家居安裝引體上升架 Pull Up Bar。 視乎不同設置方法,最便宜可以百元以內購得,且耐用度高。 買一次用一世,相比需要不斷課金的健身室會籍,是相當划算的投資
