英語日記"書き方ガイド"02
英語日記って何をどういう風に、どういう展開、どういう順番で書くの?
昨日の動画では、英語日記がいいよって言われて書き始めてみたものの、3日か長くて1週間で挫折する人がほとんどだとお話ししました。
そしてそれは、書くことを間違えているからだとお話ししました。皆さんが英語日記に書くと、大抵は「起こったこと」、「出来事」を書くんですよね。そうすると、毎日同じことの繰り返しになっちゃうけど、英語日記の本とかには、「それでいいんです!」って書いてあるけど、やってみると結構つまらないから、結局やらなくなります。
しかも、振り返ると、「日記」じゃなくて、「日誌」になっちゃってて、なんかしょぼい感じになっちゃう。なので、僕が提案したのは、「思ったこと、感じたこと」を軸に書くことでした。
でも、いざ書こうとすると、出てこないんですよね、言うこと、書くこと。どうやって書けばいいのか、わからないんですよね。
なので、今日はそのテーマでお話したいと思います。
問題は「どうやって書くか」なんですよね。
これ実はとても簡単なんです。僕らが話す時の形がわかればいいんですよ。僕らは実は決まった話し方をしていることが多いです。日本語の起承転結みたいなイメージです。
英語だと、「起承転結」ではなく、Introduction-Body-Conclusionという大枠の流れがあります。Introductionが出だし、答えとかです。Bodyは説明です。そしてConclusionが締めです。
Introductionは出だしなんで、書きたいことについてそのまま書き出してみましょう。例えば、「パスタを食べた」にしましょうか。
I had pasta.
もう少し情報欲しいですね。いつ、どこで、誰と、食べたのか。
I had pasta for dinner by myself at a restaurant near my apartment yesterday.
これがIntroductionですね。ここで終わる人が多いんです。だから日誌になっちゃうんです。ここからが本番ですよ、日記は。
ここから、Body、つまり説明に入ります。
英語で「説明」をしたことってあまりないと思うので、ピンと来ないと思いますが、「説明」というのは、大きく分けて、5つのタイプがあります。
1) 順番を説明する
2) エピソードを語る、
3) 例を挙げる
4) 違いを説明する
5) 凄さやしょぼさを説明する
基本的にはこのうちのどれかを選んで考えてもらうと、すごくスムーズに書くことが湧いてきます。
例えば、「パスタを食べた」を題材に、「思ったこと」、「感じたこと」を書くとなると、この5つの中でどれがいいかな?って考えるんですよ。
「違いを説明する」
じゃあ、自分のパスタとの違いを説明してみようかな〜とか、セブンイレブンの298円のほほ肉のラグーソースとの違いを説明してみようかな〜とか、ちょっと浮かぶんですよね。違いとか説明していると、凄さとかしょぼさとかを考えると、結構例も出てきます。
例えば、It was much better than the pasta I made last week. But, Seven Eleven’s 298 yen pasta was better. The pasta I ate yesterday was 1,000 yen. Next time I want to eat pasta, I should buy the 298 yen pasta at Seven Eleven. I will save 700 yen. I will be able to buy a nice dessert at Seven Eleven.
これでちょうど75単語です、さっきの1行目と合わせて。ここで、よくあるコメントが、でも英語でこんなに書けません、ってコメントです。大丈夫です。全然書けます。実はこれは、コツがあるんです。そのコツは明日の動画で解説します。

1. Put salted butter and water in a pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. When salted butter melts, remove from the heat.
2. Sift soft flour and cocoa powder and mix quickly with a wooden spatula.
3. Heat over medium heat again, mix thoroughly for 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes so that the dough does not burn, and when the dough becomes a lump and a thin film forms on the bottom of the pan, remove from heat and place in a bowl. I will move it.
