Wisdom is not Measured by Age
“The glory of young men is their [physical] strength, And the honor of aged men is their gray head [representing wisdom and experience].” (Proverbs 20:29 AMP)
Have you met any gray-haired men who are foolish? There are some who surprise me because I am expecting that at their ripe age, they would not behave immaturely like an unwise youth, and yet they still do.
Then there are also old Christian men who are storehouses of godly wisdom. You can tell that they had cultivated their relationship with God for decades. They can teach you a lot about a life of faith.
Being old does not automatically make you wise, and being young does not automatically disqualify you from being wise either.
“Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching. Don’t neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders. Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all. Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” (1 Timothy 4:12-16 WEB)
The key thing is consistently cultivating your relationship with the Lord, no matter what age you are.
Two beneficial activities: reading the Scriptures, and teaching the Scriptures. When doing either one, you are receiving godly wisdom, and believing in God’s word transforms you for the better.
Someone who prioritizes receiving God’s word daily is on a journey of improvement. The potential power residing in the Gospel saves and delivers you and others from all troubles, supplying every lack. The progress of such a person will be apparent to all!
In our Patreon community, we receive God’s word together daily, and there is a safe space for discussion as well. Wisdom for Financial Increase
Don’t stop at asking God to let a huge financial blessing drop into your lap. Ask Him to make you a person who brings lots of value to others so that you will be paid well for the value you bring.
Being paid by the hour is only linear increment. You work one hour more, you get one hour more of pay. That is not exciting.
For whatever job, profession, ministry, or business you are in, ask the Lord how you can bring lots of value to the table, and be a blessing in all your interactions with others. The possibilities from being paid on value is unlimited—the more value you bring, the more you receive, without being limited by time.
When Pharaoh appointed Joseph to be his premier (the second-most powerful man in Egypt), he wasn’t looking at how many hours Joseph could work. He saw the value of the man—a man with the Spirit of God who could interpret dreams supernaturally and give wise solutions to benefit the kingdom.
“Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.” Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck, and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, “Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”” (Genesis 41:38-44 WEB)
Prior to his promotion, Joseph was already a diligent man of faith who had the Lord with him, so everything he did prospered in his hand. As a foreign slave, he managed Potiphar’s household so well such that his master left everything in his hands. You have this kind of favor upon you if you are a born-again child of God.
“Yahweh was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Egyptian. His master saw that Yahweh was with him, and that Yahweh made all that he did prosper in his hand. Joseph found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. From the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, Yahweh blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. Yahweh’s blessing was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.” (Genesis 39:2-5 WEB)
If you desire a promotion in your income, don’t look at how to earn more money. Pray and see how you can become more valuable to others—being able to solve big problems for more people will allow you to have unlimited pay increment!
