#hkyogachallenge Day 14 - #hastasirsasanaC or #headstandvariationC + #garudasana legs.
Last day of our challenge: This is one of those poses that can test your true understanding of spinal alignment. It is an advanced #inversion that requires very little support from the hands. If you're just starting to learn #headstand or still struggle with #tripodheadstand, then feel free to just practice these two and #yogagram them so you won't hurt yourself - or use the wall. However if you can confidently do a #sirsasana (#headstand) with your eye closed for than 30 seconds, then let the journey begin:
1️⃣ This pose is traditionally entered from a #childpose with the arms stretched back, legs straight and pike up. But let's try a different version. From a wide-legged straddle (#pasaritapadottanasana), place the head down to the floor and align the hip so that they are right above the head and shoulders.
2️⃣ Stretch the arms far back, hands much wider than shoulders and palms facing down. And start to lean your weight forward and lift the heels up. Balance on the tip toes.
3️⃣ At this point you might feel that you're falling over. But don't worry, this is where your hips should be. Keep the spine as long as you can. And when in doubt, bring the chin closer to the chest to protect the neck. When you feel light in the feet, start to lift them up and straddle up into the sky.
4️⃣ If you can still manage, bend the knees and bring them closer to the chest as if you're doing an #utkatasana or #chairpose but upside down. Identify your right leg and hook it over to the left. Then right foot binding into the left calf muscle. Repeat with the other leg.
