Panaonic ประกาศจะออกกล้อง 8K organic sensor สำหรับ Olmypic 2020 ที่ Tokyo.
ประโยชน์ของการใส่ organic layer ด้านบนสุดของ CMOS sensor คือ
- Wide dynamic range
dynamic range กว้างขึ้น 2 stops จากเดิม 14 stops เป้าหมายคือจะเพิมขึ้นมาเป็น 15/16 stops
- Global shutter
- มี Variable ND filters หลายแบบในตัว
การใช้ conductive film ทำให้สามารถควบคุมปริมาณแสงที่ส่งไปยัง sensor สามารถควบคุมแสงได้โดยไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน aperture ซึ่งทำให้ยังคงค่าความชัดลึกชัดตื้น (depth of field) ไว้ได้เท่าเดิม
Panasonic จะใส่ sensor นี้ในกล้อง cinema, studio และกล้องทั่วไป รวมถึง Lumix ด้วย
