「調子に乗るなっ！」は英語で？
=================================
「調子に乗る」を辞書で調べると様々な英表現が紹介されていると思います。勿論、シチュエーションに応じて適切な表現をする必要がありますが、今日はある程度どのような状況でも使える「調子に乗る」ことを表す代表的な英語フレーズをご紹介しようと思います。

1) Get carried away
→「調子に乗る・我を忘れる」

“Carry away”は、我を忘れるほど何かに夢中になったり興奮したりすること、またはおだてられていい気になったりすることを表すフレーズということから、“Get”と組み合わせて使うことで「調子に乗る」や「我を忘れる」を意味します。
✔「調子に乗って〜をする」→「Get carried away and _____」
✔「〜をすると調子に乗る（夢中になる）」→「Get carried away when/by _____」
✔“Carry away”は「運び去る」や「持ち去る」などの意味もある。
＜例文＞
I'm sorry. I got carried away.
（すみません・・・調子に乗りました。）
I got carried away and spent too much.
（イキってお金を使い過ぎてもうた・・・）
He gets carried away when he talks about his business.
（彼は自分のビジネスの話をすると夢中になります。）
Don't get carried away.
（調子に乗るな！）

2) Go overboard
→「調子に乗って〜をやり過ぎる」

この表現も「調子に乗る」と訳すことができますが、調子に乗って「やり過ぎる」ことがポイントになります。あまりにも興奮して言い過ぎたり、お金を使い過ぎたりすることを表す場合に用いられます。
✔「Go overboard on/with _____」→「〜をし過ぎる」
＜例文＞
Don't go overboard.
（無茶したらあかんでっ！）
I know you're excited about the party but don't go overboard.
（パーティーが楽しみなのは分かるけど、調子に乗って無駄使いし過ぎないようにね。）
I went a little overboard on the decoration.
（ちょっと飾り付けし過ぎちゃったかな。）

生ごみが腐った臭いや魚の血生臭いにおいなど、鼻につくような嫌な臭いを表す時にピッタリの英表現があるのでご紹介します。

Reek of
→「悪臭を放つ / ～の臭いがする」
--------------------------------------------------
この表現は、何か不快な臭いがする時に「悪臭がする」の意味としてよく使われるフレーズです。日本語の「お酒臭い」や「タバコ臭い」に相当する表現です。
✔「Smell (like) _____（〜の匂いがする）」も同様の表現ですが、中立的な表現であり良い匂いと嫌な臭いの両方に使えます。
＜例文＞
You reek of alcohol.
（あなた、お酒臭いね。）
My dress reeks of smoke.
（私のドレスがタバコ臭いのよね。）
This store reeks of perfume. It's giving me a headache.
（このお店、香水臭い。頭痛がするわ。）
It smells like food in here. Is someone cooking?
（何か食べ物の匂いがする。誰か料理しているの？）
〜会話例１〜
A: What's wrong with Tim? He looks terrible. Is he sick or something?
（ティムどうかしたの？顔色すごく悪いよ。具合でも悪いの？）
B: He's just hungover. He went overboard last night. He reeks of alcohol.
（二日酔いなだけだよ。昨日、調子に乗って飲みすぎたからね。彼、かなり酒臭いよ。）
〜会話例２〜
A: Ewww! You smell sweaty. Hurry up and go take a shower.
（うわっ！あなた汗臭いわよ。早くシャワー浴びてきて。）
B: Geez. What do you expect? I just got back from the gym.
（汗臭いのは当たり前だろ。ジムから戻ってきたばかりなんだから。）

We’ve been putting a lot of work into this house and we’re not going to stay in it. I feel like nesting everywhere I go. Plus I tend to want to make the place nice and neat for others to stay. Almost obsessive to make the place homey. I guess it’s a hobby and I feel good when people are comfortable in my home. I might being going overboard with this nesting but I think it keeps me busy and takes my mind off the baby. Also it’s about time to clear the negative energy that’s been lingering in the air at this home. Hopefully I’ll come around to feeling good in my own home someday.
