【Taiwan: Asia's Gold Mine of Talent】
Last year, the world's most valuable company Microsoft announced its plans to establish a US$ 34 million AI R&D hub in Taiwan, which will look to employ 200 engineers over the next 5 years.

This is on top of the fact that Taiwan has for the last 3 years been serving as the firm's Asian hub for IoT development.

Unbeknownst to most, Microsoft is actually among a handful of other global tech giants including Google, Amazon, and IBM that have earmarked Taiwan as a strategic center for innovation, particularly as it relates to the development of AI, blockchain, and IoT.

The reasons are quite simple. The country's developed infrastructure, low-cost standards of living, and rigorous emphasis on STEM education has cultivated a robust and cost-effective pool of raw engineering talent, enabling firms to fuel the exploration of deep technologies.

Taiwan’s legacy as a leading OEM/ODM for the world’s leading consumer electronics brands also allows global innovators to capitalize on the growing applications of AI in IoT, Industry 4.0, and smart cities.

It's clear that Taiwan can't continue to compete against low-cost manufacturing hubs in China, Vietnam, or India where scale and price reign king. But, using the expansion of these American tech giants as a proxy, it seems Taiwan is just starting to make a name for itself when it comes to high-tech innovation.

Born in Taiwan’s Gaoxiong. Lee’s composed works has accumulated over 2000 pieces and more than 5000 songs for the music arrangement. Lee has produced more than 90 records which made him to be nominated for the Taiwan Gold Prize Award for twenty-nine times. He received the Awards for Best Composer in the 23rd Gold Prize Award and Best Creation Award in the 27th respectively. With the work in Hong Kong Dance Company’s Storm Clouds, he won the Outstanding Achievement in Music for Dance in the 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards. He also received the Awards for the China Top Ten HIFI Record Award twice and the Best Classical music recital album from the Chinese Music Award in 2010.

Getting back to my huan dao -- my scooter trip around the island of Taiwan -- we are continuing out exploration of Keelung City, today also making it up to the picturesque gold mining town of Jiufen. This has long been one of my favorite places in Taiwan, famous for its narrow streets, and old-school Japanese era vibes. I love North Taiwan, and would even consider moving up here someday! Strange Brigade is a third-person shooter with a huge emphasis on cooperative gameplay. In the game, the player assumes the role of an adventurer in the 1930s and can team up with three other players to fight against different mythological enemies like mummies, giant scorpions and minotaurs. The game's four playable characters, who can be customized, have different weapons and abilities. Players have a large arsenal of weapons at their disposal. Each weapon has several upgrade slots, which can be used to enhance combat efficiency. Players can switch and upgrade their weapons at the workbenches found in a level. They can also activate different traps, such as spinning blades and spikes, to kill enemies.

The game features branching levels which encourage exploration. By solving puzzles, players will discover new relics which can unlock "amulet powers". These powerful amulet powers can be activated by absolving the souls of enemies. Players can also find treasure chests to unlock powerful prototype weapons, and collect gold coins to purchase new weapons.

4000 years ago, Sahara Africa was ruled by Seteki, a brutal and barbaric queen. Dissatisfied with her rule, her people overthrew her and sealed her in a nameless tomb. In 1930, archaeologist Edgar Harbin discovered her tomb and released the Queen's spirit. The Strange Brigade, a group of Secret Service agents sent by the British colonial government, has infiltrated Harbin's expedition in an effort to eliminate Seteki.
