Spring Breakers
--
Colleges and universities in the U.S. have always given students a short vacation in March or April, but the tradition of spring break as a time to party at the beach started in the Florida city of Ft. Lauderdale in 1938. An event for college swimmers was held there, and it ended up turning into a party.
The party got bigger every year, and soon the event was more about drinking than swimming. People even began calling the city “Ft. Liquordale.” In 1959, Time magazine published an article about the phenomenon titled, “Beer and the Beach.” By 1985, over 370,000 students were traveling to Ft. Lauderdale for spring break, and things started to get out of control. After 2,500 students were arrested for rowdy behavior that year, the local authorities banned drinking at the beach, and the mayor went on Good Morning America to announce that spring breakers weren’t welcome anymore.
But when it comes to American college students, there’s no stopping the drinking and debauchery. They just found new beach locations for spring break—like Panama City, Florida, South Padre Island, Texas, and even Cancun, Mexico. In Florida and Texas alone, spring breakers spend over a billion dollars each year, giving a big boost to local economies.
But has the recent coronavirus outbreak put a halt to the festivities this year? Not really. Although President Trump made an announcement urging people to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people, spring breakers still flocked to beaches all over Florida and the Gulf Coast. “If I get corona, I get corona,” said one student. “At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying.”
1. authority「
Ving
3. boost「
4. put a halt to「喊卡,中止」

The Great Gatsby、Harry Potter Mindset、21 Lessons for the 21st Century
1️⃣ He kept lying to his supervisor, undermining the mutual trust between him and his boss.
(也就是That he kept lying to his supervisor 這件事,導致於他們兩個之間的互信減少 => 減少了他們的互信。
2️⃣ The United States dollar continued its rise, reaching its highest level in six years against the German mark.
3️⃣ He recommended that the country sell about half of its gold reserves, raising fears among the general public that other countries might do the same.
這句話在 raise fears 的是 the fact that the country sell about half of its gold reserved)
1️⃣ He is very good at cooking, always impressing every guest with his meals.
2️⃣ He is very good at cooking and always impresses every guest with his meals.
3️⃣ He entertained his guests with his musical performance and impressed them with his meals.
Happy learning!

One of Dan Lok’s passions in life is martial arts. Like many young kids, after watching a Bruce Lee movie, it changed his life forever. At 17 years old, Dan started training in martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for Dan to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself.
Dan has studied with legendary martial artist such as Bruce Lee’s original student Ted Wong (http://tedwongjkd.net) and Joe Lewis “The Worlds Greatest Fighter” (http://joelewisassociation.com), making him a second generation student of Bruce Lee - in Bruce Lee's authentic art of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). He's also a third generation student of Ip Man (Wing Chun Kung Fu).
Dan has also trained with other great instructors like Sifu Adam Chan (https://www.pragmaticmartialarts.com), Canadian lightweight boxing champion Tony "Fire Kid" Pep (https://www.facebook.com/pepboxing), and Octavio Quintero (https://www.theartofjkd.com)
For Dan, martial arts training permeates every area of life. It’s not a hobby, it’s a way of life, and it influences how he does business.
Martial arts gave him the confidence, focus, and patience to push through these obstacles and to keep fighting when he felt like giving up.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Dan is NOT a full-time martial artist and he doesn't even claim to be that good of a fighter.
He's simply a successful businessman who enjoys the art and philosophy of Bruce Lee, just like you.
He doesn't have any online martial art videos, seminars or expensive "private training" to sell you. Quite frankly, he doesn't need the money.
He simply wants to share his passion for the art of JKD (his own version of Jeet Kune Do) through his YouTube channel.

1. Arctic shrubs are good at taking advantage of increased nutrients in the
soil, better than other Arctic plants.
2. His later paintings are notable for their increased color and dynamic use
of light.
第二句:are notable for後面為什麼也不是increasing?
