architecture in the #Modernism , #Brutalism , #PostModernism periods were internationally - not yet being recognised for their historical and cultural values. A lot of the heritage validation systems in the world define “heritage” as something with at least 100 years of history. However, we all know that everything in our world now are developing in a rate that grows exponentially. A whole era could be replaced within 50, or even 20 years. It’s time for us to study and appreciate the rapidly changing architecture and culture behind our “current” world.

Urduja, ca. 1350–1400 AD) a legendary warrior princess who is recognized as a heroine in Pangasinan, Philippines. The name Urduja appears to be Sanskrit in origin, and a variation of the name "Udaya", meaning "arise" or "rising sun", or the name "Urja", meaning "breath". A historical reference to Urduja can be found in the travel account of Ibn Battuta (1304 – possibly 1368 or 1377 AD), a Muslim traveler from Morocco.
Thailand:
Thao Thep Kasattri (ท้าวเทพกระษัตรี) and Thao Sri Sunthon (ท้าวศรีสุนทร) were styles awarded to Than Phuying Chan (ท่านผู้หญิงจัน), wife of the then recently deceased governor, and her sister, Khun Muk (คุณมุก), who defended Phuket Province in the late 18th century. According to popular belief, they repelled a five-week invasion by Burmaese in 1785, by dressing up as male soldiers and rallying Siamese troops. Chan and Muk were later honored by King Rama I with the Thai honorific Thao, as Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Sri Sunthon, respectively. The "Heroine's Monument" honouring them is situated on the main highway (402) between the Phuket International Airport and Phuket town.
Vietnam:
The Trung Sisters, (c. 12 - 43 AD), known in Vietnamese as Hai Bà Trưng ("the two Trưng ladies"'), and individually as Trưng Trắc (Traditional Chinese: 徵側; pinyin: Zhēng Cè) and Trưng Nhị (Traditional Chinese: 徵貳; pinyin: Zhēng Èr), were two first century AD women leaders who repelled Chinese invasions for three years, winning several battles against considerable odds, and are regarded as national heroines of Vietnam.

Queen Shin Sawbu was also known as Binnya Thau (ဗညားထောဝ်) or Old Queen in Mon. Queen Shin Sawbu and Queen Jamadevi of Haripunjaya are the two most famous among the small number of queens who ruled in mainland Southeast Asia.

This picture was taken in front of Hagia Sophia. One of the historically iconic place in Istanbul.
•~•
Recently this place has been converted to a mosque. What do you think about this change?
•~•
Those who doesn’t know, Hagia Sophia used to be a orthodox cathedral. It was converted to a Mosque when Ottoman Empire defeated the Constantinople. In 1934 it became a museum and a Unesco World Heritage site until now.
•~•
This decision of converting it to a mosque deeply upsets me. This monument used to be a bridge between two faiths, and a symbol of co-existence. In my opinion, they should have kept it unchanged. This decision takes Turkey back many centuries ago while two faiths were fighting over establishing their power. Turkey already has plenty beautiful and popular mosques. They certainly did not need to sacrifice Hagia Sophia for nationalism. A historical monument like Hagia Sophia, does not only belong to a nation, but it also belongs to the humanity. Can Turkey take pride being a secular Muslim nation anymore after this decision?
•~•
Please do share your thoughts. I would like to know how world travellers are taking this decision.

This is what I recommend doing when travelling Kaohsiung!
In this episode of our Kaohsiung Adventure Vlog we explored the coastal side of Kaohsiung.
We started the morning by exploring a local Taiwanese street food market
and got some great Taiwan food breakfast.
The little breakfast street food stall can be found on the Linhai 2nd Road at the Gushan District. Here you can order local Taiwanese breakfast dishes such as omelets as well as amazing coffee with steamed milk.
After having our street food breakfast we travelled to the pier of Kaohsiung and got a ferry over to Qijin District.
This area of Kaohsiung is right beside the sea and so gives a much more coastal town vibe.
In the Qijin District there are a lot of must visit locations including:
- Kaohsiung Lighthouse
- Cihou Fort
- Cijin Tunnel
- Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell Monument
We hiked Mount Cihou and checked out the beautiful Taiwan nature spots. This mountain hike provides amazing views of the Kaohsiung City.
This nature hike also has great historical landmarks of Kaohsiung and it is the perfect Taiwan travel location for those looking for a walking tour with beautiful views and interesting Taiwanese history.
We ended the day by walking around the nature park and soaking in the nature/coastal side of Kaohsiung.
I hope you enjoyed this Kaohsiung Adventure Vlog, if you would like to see more adventure vlogs or Taiwan travel content then please leave a like and subscribe.
Thanks for watching and I will see you in the next Kaohsiung travel guide!
