ในปี 2018 มูลค่าการค้าของโลกเท่ากับ 590 ล้านล้านบาท
แต่รู้หรือไม่ว่า กว่า 30% เกิดจากอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์
ขณะที่มูลค่าของอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ทั่วโลกนั้น ใหญ่กว่าขนาด GDP ของฝรั่งเศสที่มีมูลค่าประมาณ 80 ล้านล้านบาท เสียอีก
หมายความว่า ถ้าอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์มีปัญหา ย่อมส่งผลต่อเศรษฐกิจโลกอย่างหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้
เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ IMF ได้ให้ความเห็นว่า
สิ่งที่ทำให้เศรษฐกิจโลกโตช้ากว่าที่คิด เนื่องจากการชะลอตัวของอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์
พร้อมทั้งตั้งข้อสังเกตว่า
ความเจริญรุ่งเรืองของอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์นั้นอาจผ่านจุดสูงสุดไปแล้ว
ปัจจัยที่ทำให้อุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ชะลอตัวในปัจจุบันนั้น มีอยู่ 3 ปัจจัยหลัก
1. การตั้งกำแพงภาษี และการกีดกันทางการค้าระหว่างประเทศ
ซึ่งส่งผลให้ต้นทุนรถยนต์นั้นเพิ่มสูงขึ้น อย่างกรณีของสหรัฐอเมริกาที่ประกาศเก็บภาษีนำเข้าเหล็กและอะลูมิเนียมจากประเทศคู่ค้า ส่งผลให้ต้นทุนการผลิตรถยนต์โดยเฉลี่ยของสหรัฐอเมริกานั้นเพิ่มขึ้น
2. การออกมาตรการ รวมทั้งกฎหมายอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อม
ต้นทุนในการผลิตรถยนต์ทั่วโลกนั้นเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมาก เพราะบริษัทรถยนต์ต้องการลงทุนและพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีด้านเครื่องยนต์เพื่อลดมลพิษ จึงทำให้ราคารถนั้นสูงขึ้น จนกระทบต่อผู้บริโภค
3. การเกิดขึ้นของ Sharing Economy
ซึ่งคือสังคมเศรษฐกิจแบบแบ่งปัน ที่เกิดจากความคิดที่ว่า ผู้ที่มีทรัพยากรต้องการสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มของสินทรัพย์ในรูปแบบของค่าเช่าหรือค่าบริการ
การเกิดขึ้นของ Uber, Lyft, Grab ซึ่งเป็นการใช้รถยนต์ร่วมกันระหว่างผู้มีรถยนต์ และผู้ต้องการใช้รถยนต์ เป็นอีกหนึ่งเหตุผลที่ทำให้ความต้องการรถยนต์นั้นลดลง
ปัจจัยที่กล่าวมานี้ ทำให้ยอดขายรถยนต์ในแต่ละประเทศที่เคยทำจุดสูงสุดไว้ ยังไม่เคยทำลายสถิติอีกเลยนับจากนั้น
สหรัฐอเมริกา ยอดขายรถยนต์ทำจุดสูงสุดในปี 2016
บราซิล ยอดขายรถยนต์ทำจุดสูงสุดในปี 2014
สหภาพยุโรป ยอดขายรถยนต์ทำจุดสูงสุดในปี 2000
ญี่ปุ่น ยอดขายรถยนต์ทำจุดสูงสุดในปี 1990 หรือเกือบ 30 ปีที่แล้ว
แม้แต่ประเทศที่มีประชากรมากที่สุดในโลกอย่างจีนและอินเดีย ที่ผู้เกี่ยวข้องหลายฝ่ายในอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์คาดหวังว่าจะเข้ามาพยุงความต้องการรถยนต์ทั่วโลกนั้น ก็กำลังมีปัญหา
เนื่องจากทั้ง 2 ประเทศนี้เป็นประเทศที่มีมลภาวะทางอากาศมากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งของโลก จึงทำให้รัฐบาลออกมาตรการและกฎหมายต่างๆ เพื่อลดมลภาวะจากการใช้รถยนต์
พอเรื่องเป็นแบบนี้
ยอดขายรถยนต์ในจีนเดือนกันยายน ลดลงกว่า 12% จากปีที่แล้ว
ที่สำคัญคือ ยอดขายรถยนต์ในจีนนั้น ลดลงติดต่อกันถึง 15 เดือนแล้ว
รวมทั้งที่อินเดีย ประเทศที่ผลิตรถยนต์รายใหญ่ของโลก ก็กำลังประสบกับยอดขายรถยนต์ที่ปรับตัวลดลงกว่า 14% จากปีที่แล้ว
ซึ่งขัดแย้งกับสิ่งที่หลายคนคิดไว้ก่อนหน้าว่า
รายได้ของประชากรทั้ง 2 ประเทศที่เพิ่มขึ้นในช่วงที่ผ่านมา น่าจะทำให้ตลาดรถยนต์ใน 2 ประเทศนี้เติบโตต่อเนื่อง แต่ตอนนี้เรื่องราวกลับตรงกันข้าม
แม้แต่ในประเทศไทยที่ตลาดรถยนต์เดือนกันยายน ลดลงกว่า 14% เมื่อเทียบกับช่วงเดียวกันของปีที่แล้ว ทำให้บริษัทผลิตชิ้นส่วนรถยนต์ในประเทศมีการประกาศหยุดงานบางส่วน
ความไม่แน่นอนของอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ ที่กำลังเจอความท้าทายทั้งเศรษฐกิจโลกที่ชะลอตัว
กฎเกณฑ์ใหม่ที่ออกมาเพื่อควบคุมมลภาวะจากรถยนต์
รวมทั้งความก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยี จนเกิดสังคมแห่งการแบ่งปันทรัพยากร
จึงทำให้หลายคนสงสัยว่า การชะลอตัวของอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์นั้นเป็นสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นชั่วคราวหรือไม่ และยอดขายรถยนต์ทั่วโลกได้ผ่านจุดสูงสุดไปแล้วหรือยัง
เรื่องนี้สะท้อนไปยังการให้มูลค่าของบริษัทรถยนต์ต่างๆ ที่อยู่ในตลาดหุ้น นักลงทุนตอนนี้กำลังให้มูลค่าบริษัทรถยนต์หลายแห่งทั่วโลกต่ำมาก
เรามาดูค่า Price to Earnings (P/E) ของบริษัทรถยนต์เหล่านี้ ซึ่งเป็นค่าวัดความถูกแพงของหุ้นที่นักลงทุนในตลาดหุ้นมักนิยมใช้
Toyota ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 8.8 เท่า
Hyundai Motor ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 8.0 เท่า
BMW ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 6.8 เท่า
General Motors ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 5.9 เท่า
Honda ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 4.9 เท่า
Nissan Motor ค่า P/E อยู่ที่ 3.7 เท่า
ใครจะไปคิดว่าเรากำลังซื้อบริษัทรถยนต์ชั้นนำของโลกทั้ง Toyota, BMW, Honda ในราคา P/E ที่ถูกกว่าบริษัททั่วไปในตลาดหลักทรัพย์ไทยเสียอีก
จากข้อมูลดังกล่าว ดูเหมือนว่าราคาหุ้นของบริษัทรถยนต์หลายแห่งนั้นถูก
แต่อีกมุมก็หมายความว่า นักลงทุนอาจไม่มั่นใจว่าอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ในอนาคตจะสามารถทำกำไรได้เพิ่มขึ้นหรือไม่
อย่าว่าแต่กำไรเพิ่ม ที่ P/E ในระดับนี้ นักลงทุนน่าจะกำลังคาดการณ์กำไรที่ถดถอยลงจากปัจจุบันด้วยซ้ำ
เรื่องนี้ก็เป็นข้อมูลที่น่าสนใจให้ รัฐบาลไทย หรือ ผู้ประกอบการไทยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์
เพราะต้องยอมรับว่าประเทศไทยในปัจจุบันก็เป็นฐานการผลิตรถยนต์ที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของโลก
แต่ไม่ว่าเราจะใหญ่แค่ไหน
ถ้าอุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ของโลกทั้งหมดชะลอตัวลง
แล้วประเทศไทยจะฝืนต่อไปได้อย่างไร..
