CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF
Social media makes us feel like shit at times and somehow others always seem to have their shit together. Don't you at least for once wonder where your life's strayed away from the norms presented to you through people's picture perfect lives? It's toxic but you can't look away and feel your pride has taken multiple hits afterwards.
Growing up I had this issue of self-worth haunting me night and day. Don't get me wrong I am still consciously struggling to love myself even now. But things are looking better. Cuz I never stop trying despite the constant thought I am rubbish. You may find it ridiculous how I am so agitated by the thought of inconveniencing others with my dumb questions. I should research and come up with answers to them myself or just shut up altogether and be tormented by my own stupidity. It is no less of an extreme case. My personality, that is.
One time my friend and I got lost in the middle of nowhere in the rural Southern Vietnam. But the greatest me would still rather bury my face in Google Maps to figure out our exit than chase the rare sight of a local passing by on the roadside. I could have had us real bad but I still did not relent. Perhaps I would be the weak one to be weeded out in troubled times.
Sometimes I can't help fantasizing about a parallel universe where timid, shy, reserved would be erased without a trace in my mental dictionary. I could amass nonsensical confidence without a slightest idea what strength I possess. I could hustle my way to the top in a finger snap. Isn't that how the Kardashian did it? Admiration max level! That's a different kind of talent unbeknownst to rigid people like me.
One's often advised to hang around the rich or smart to become rich or smart, respectively. But a skeptical me would ask, why would those people with social power resort to hanging with us? It's every man for himself in this cruel world. Don't they wanna seek more influential people to hang with as well? Why bother with the bottom of the pyramid?
But I still want to be worthy of such relationships. I want to bring something to the table so that it's a two-way street. I might not have the wits but I could become interesting in my own way and humor them with my stories. It's not sustainable to be the only one receiving and absorbing knowledge. At least that's my two cents.
I guess my point is I am getting better at asking for help as I feel like the current me could return part of the favor. And that little piece of confidence came from the fruit of my efforts to continuously find my niche and upgrade myself. Only you can save yourself. With cues and nudges from the universe, you will get to where you belong eventually. So does my low self-esteem really matter if it pushes me to strive for new heights? I might never know.
Never settle. Keep dreaming.
Love,
P.S. my selfie game is weak.

【💰 Investor Speed Dating: We Got a SMART Match Recap 💰】
Ding ding ding! Five minutes are up! 🔔 That’s right, we’ve just wrapped up our first ever Investor Speed Dating: We Got a SMART Match! Thanks to the quick pace of speed dating, ten startups had a chance to meet all five investors on a five-minute rotation: they break the ice, give critical first impressions, pitch to investors 1-on-1, and open the door to potential investments in the future.
A big thanks to Edgar Chiu (Managing Partner at SparkLabs Taipei), Ti-Ti Chang (Assistant Vice President at CDIB Capital Group), Kelvin Sun (Vice President at WI Harper Group), Willy Chen (Investment Assistant Manager at Cathay Venture Inc.) and Alcus Hsueh (Senior Associate at AET Fund) for coming out to meet 10 awesome startups and giving them seasoned advice.
Here are a few highlights on how to WOW the investor:
☑️Craft a killer one-liner
Think of your one-liner as a hook that peaks the interest of the investor and explains what your startup does in a short, clear and concise way. If you can’t explain the essence of your startup in at least one sentence then you can’t expect your audience to get it either.
☑️Interaction is key
When you only have a few minutes to impress the investor, naturally you’ll find yourself talking till the last second. However, be sure to save some time for the investor to ask questions before the bell rings. After all, speed dating is all about getting to know each other better in a short period of time.
☑️Build a strong “why”
Before pitching to the investor, ask yourself: Why should people buy your products? Why are you creating this particular business? With a strong “why,” you’re more likely to make a lasting impression on the investor sitting across the table.
Missed this event and want to find out more? There’ll be more events like this in the future, so be sure to stay tuned to the latest updates from TSS!

【三問三答】
Some questions I always get asked:
1) Is your Destiny Analysis very brief or specific?
Clients who have had their Bazi read by me had never complained of my analysis being brief.
After our first consultation, a young man recently told me he felt underprepared in terms of questions, responses and knowledge in front of me.
(Actually I find him okay.)
Take a look at my album of testimonials from clients and workshop participants.
Why do you think some of them write lengthy testimonials for me?
These are the people who have experienced positive transformations when they followed my advice.
They don't get extra incentive from me from writing all these.
This is their way of paying me back and helping others.
If I had been brief, superficial or vague, you think my smart and educated clients will bother?
A more intelligent question to ask me is:
"Can you solve my problem?"
我不打沒有把握的戰。
You probably have spent enough time trying to figure out the deadknot in your life.
If I can't solve your problem, I will not take up your case.
And when I can solve your problem, compared to other Feng Shui masters that you may have consulted, then don't worry your pretty head off whether I will be brief or specific.
不管是白貓還是黑貓,抓到老鼠就是好貓。
Whether black or white, the cat that catches the rat is a good cat.
As long as the solution works, and is simple to implement,
Don't get tricked by the illusion of consultation time - longer time must be better value for money.
Being taken for a merry-go-round with no end result is frustrating.
If the Feng Shui practitioner cannot make it, 1 minute with him/her remains a waste of money and time.
In any case, my Bazi consultation time is 1.5 hour and 2 hours for Feng Shui audits.
I also cover 10-13 other areas in your Bazi , apart from your issue at hand.
.
2) Do you provide reports?
Never did, never will.
I trust that you, as a responsible and self-loving adult, can write your own notes.
I'm a patient person. I will give you time to write.
One client told me that she rather write her own notes, as previously, she couldn't comprehend what the other Feng Shui Master wrote in her report. It was too technical for her.
While I'm patient, I'm also particular.
If I do not see you writing down important details, I will stop the entire consultation till you jot it down.
Don't tell me that you can remember.
You may not and I'm not going to risk my reputation of being detailed for your callousness. Most importantly, I take every destiny very seriously.
If in front of me, you are flippant about your destiny, don't think it's important to write down when you do not know better than me, then there is no motivation for me to continue the consultation.
.
3) After a Destiny Analysis, do I still need to come back to you every year?
So you got a thorough health check up done this year, does that mean you don't have to do it anymore?
After getting your whole Bazi read, the next kind of reading you should seek is known as 流年運程, Annual Luck Analysis.
Some people think that this service is our way of further"monetizing" our clients.
#rollrolllrollmyeyes
People's goals change every year.
You want to start a business.
You want to start a family.
You want to branch out your business.
Your child had done well last year, you want to know what else you should do to help him for his PSLE.
You don't know if you should change your company.
You want to get a divorce.
You want to...
An annual luck analysis helps you to stay on track of your previous goals, and provides a yearly breakdown on how to get maximum results with the least minimal effort and obstacles.
During the consultation, I also help to highlight to client Ma the potential opportunities that will happen that year so that they won't miss out due to ignorance.
In some Bazi, they may have a bad luck period eg from 2015-2020, a good 5 years.
Does that mean everything they do will be futile?
But life continues to happen, what can they do?
This is where a Annual Luck Analysis comes in.
Out of the 5 bad years, there's bound to be a year that is more promising, there's bound to be solutions to get around things.
By going microscopic, we will always, always have a chance to turn the tide to our favour.
Never never never give up.
.
I don't make much small talk during consultations.
I understand that money can be limited for some of you.
When you take the good faith to invest in me, I see it as my duty to live up and beyond your expectations, instead of chit chatting.
Don't misinterpret it as me being unfriendly.
I can answer some doubts you may have before meeting me, but there is a limit to how much I will clarify.
I can't be helping you if you overthink and get too insecure about Chinese Metaphysics. You have to solve that yourself before you consult anyone. There's a reason why I wrote 400 over posts and 60+ Lives.
Your money and my time are both scarce resources.
So let's invest it in the right person.
.
p.s I accidentally highlighted and pasted a single sentence over this entire post in my Iphone. I had wanted to copy the post into my FB.
I literally freaked out for a few seconds. Immediately I goggled for a way to undo the paste. I wanted my post back!
Guys, the solution is to SHAKE your Iphone. A Undo pop-up will appear. #notjoking #itsavedmylife
Moral of the story: never let fear overtake our ability to solve a problem effortlessly.

How do you start a “green” company? How do you make it scale? How do you make sure it’s financially and environmentally sustainable? These are some of the questions we covered on WNWN’s first live show!
Held in Taipei on August 31st, we talked with Godfrey Ngai, CFO of Xing Mobility - an electric vehicle battery company going after two thirds of the worlds vehicles. Melody Hsu - co-founder of ViaSweat - an active-wear brand trying to use more sustainable textile made from recycled materials. And Hamoun Karami - founder of Lidbot, a startup that wants to transform the way we think about trash collection.
This is a podcast about how NOT to save the environment. Hosted by Nature N8 (Nate Maynard), an environmental researcher working on energy, ocean, and waste issues.

SMART goals
You could say that the whole human endeavour is geared towards setting and achieving goals. Goals are part of every aspect of life: how you conduct your relationships, what you want to achieve at work, the way you use your spare time... Everything comes down to priorities, and what you would like to accomplish in every aspect – whether you make a conscious choice or go with subconscious preferences.
Without setting goals or objectives, life becomes a series of chaotic happenings you don't control. You become the plaything of coincidence. Accomplishments like sending someone to the moon, inventing the iPod etcetera are the result of a goal that was set at some point. A vision that was charted and realised.
What is SMART goal setting?
SMART goal setting brings structure and trackability into your goals and objectives. In stead of vague resolutions, SMART goal setting creates verifiable trajectories towards a certain objective, with clear milestones and an estimation of the goal's attainabililty. Every goal or objective, from intermediary step to overarching objective, can be made S.M.A.R.T. and as such, brought closer to reality.
In corporate life, SMART goal setting is one of the most effective and yet least used tools for achieving goals. Once you've charted to outlines of your project, it's time to set specific intermediary goals. With the SMART checklist, you can evaluate your objectives. SMART goal setting also creates transparency throughout the company. It clarifies the way goals came into existence, and the criteria their realisation will conform to.
What does S.M.A.R.T. goal setting stand for?
Why not think of a small goal you want to set right now, personal or professional. To make your goal S.M.A.R.T., it needs to conform to the following criteria: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely.
S.M.A.R.T. goal setting: Specific
What exactly do you want to achieve? The more specific your description, the bigger the chance you'll get exactly that. S.M.A.R.T. goal setting clarifies the difference between 'I want to be a millionaire' and 'I want to make €50.000 a month for the next ten years by creating a new software product'.
Questions you may ask yourself when setting your goals and objectives are:
What exactly do I want to achieve?
Where?
How?
When?
With whom?
What are the conditions and limitations?
Why exactly do I want to reach this goal? What are possible alternative ways of achieving the same?
S.M.A.R.T. goal setting: Measurable
S.M.A.R.T. goal setting: Attainable
S.M.A.R.T. goal setting: Relevant
S.M.A.R.T. goal setting: Timely
Keywords:
