Daily advice for HK immigrants to the West:
Regarding church membership, my advice would be the same as my previous post about hanging about with your own people. One of the worst things to do is to be isolated. It’s important to join a church community to meet others, especially if you’re a Christian. The second worst thing is to remain ONLY with your own people in church by joining a church only for recent HK immigrants. Despite what you hear from all the so-called influencers (i.e. KOLs), the overseas Chinese churches are quite complex. Most of these KOLs haven’t had an extended stay in any country outside to HK, let alone being exposed to multiple Chinese churches. Some Chinese churches are dysfunctional (I’ll talk about that later) while others are thriving. I do know this because I’ve spoken in every sort of Chinese churches of all different sizes, denominations and convictions all across N. America. By only joining churches with recent HK immigrants, you’ll soon land in your own echo chamber, and you’ll have a really tough time adjusting. If so, why move to a different country? When you join the local Chinese churches, you’ll find that there’re many kinds of Chinese with many convictions. While your experience is totally legitimate, you shouldn’t discount the experience of others. The world doesn’t come in stereotypes. Despite what you think and hear, there’re also some very excellent mainland Chinese who can be really good friends. It may take some time to finally get to know or meet them. It will take some time to adjust to the cultural differences. According to all non-Chinese, we’re all Chinese to your host country. No matter whether you hold on to your HKer identity, you’ll have to cope with being “Chinese”. That means you will have to associate with and befriend other types of Chinese eventually. Your value as a HKer increases when you have a chance to share your experience with them. During the protest, I’ve had very good Mainland Chinese friends telling me that they’ve been praying daily for HK. That’s not something you’ll hear from the news, but that’s no less true. Keep your mind and heart open. You won’t regret it.

Quote of the Day / Petikan Inspirasi Hari Ini
The fall of any nation is triggered when they have selective action on people and types of crime. While the society is very upset with non-halal meat being brought to the country via a very structured and organised supply chain i.e. cartel, they never questioned the practice of corruption in all types of cartel. While non-halal food has been the hot issue, the corruption was far from it.
We are living in a world of contradiction.

2020 ZA Share International EXPO of Educational Alternatives and Innovations
from 12 pm November 21 to 12 pm November 22 (GMT+8), completely online for 24-hours! I couldn't be more excited to invite you to join!
here is the EXPO entrance link: http://zashare2020.org
.
----------------------------------
This year, there will be three main tracks happening simultaneously at the ZA Share Expo:
1. EXPO Website as RPG
First, the main Exhibition Website will be a website-based role-playing game, which will be as easy to access as any website. If you visit the Exhibition, you will become a lost Star Wanderer that collided on planet Earth in ZA Share Era VI and embark on a journey to find your way back to your own orbit. During this journey, you have to visit different space stations (learn from different exhibitors) to collect the required materials to fly back to your orbit!
2. 24hr Non-Stop Online TV Channel
Second, there will be a video channel that plays various programs 24-hour non-stop, just like any other TV channel! On the video channel, you'll see reality shows featuring alternative learning opportunities, such as farming and airplane-flying; talk shows with celebrities, politicians, and academics in Taiwan on transforming education in different sectors; and the Taiwan International Education Summit (TIES), which will be featuring education pioneers from Japan, Korea, India to the United States on Towards an Anti-Fragile Paradigm in Education: Shifting from the focus from EE (Effectiveness & Efficiency) to RR (Resilience & Robustness) .
3. Virtual Lounge -- Host or Join Open Spaces for Free!
Third, to foster spontaneous co-learning, networking, and joy, everyone is welcomed to host an Open Space in whatever format, and the registration form and Realtime Bulletin Board is already live! Why not join the play with friends around the world?
At ZA Share, we strive to facilitate meaningful connections between our exhibitors and our visitors. A large portion of them are young adults aged 18 to 30 and young teachers and parents aged 30 to 45. Many are unsatisfied with education's status quo, so attend our expo to be inspired, explore the other possibilities to learning, and find out actions they can take to make a difference.
With a considerable community size from the bottom-up, our expo also served as a platform to bridge civic action with government-industry-academia collaboration. Aestheticell, for example, is a civic project founded by a group of then-college students. When they first showcased their dream to bring aesthetics to Taiwanese textbooks at ZA Share 2016, they received the support to make their dream a reality -- Their designs were eventually accepted and published by major textbook publishers across the country, later even received a national design award.
We believe that to change society, participation in social change has to become a "trend." Fortunately, with the joint effort with all of our partners and community members, the number of Taiwanese students pursuing alternative or innovative forms of accredited education (i.e., Experimental Education, as defined by the Taiwan government) has five folded in the previous five years!
If you also want to make educational alternatives and innovations more widely acceptable and accessible, why don't you join us to have fun together and spread the word? AERO members such as North Star, Agile Learning Centers, and Sri Aria are all exhibiting at the ZA Share Expo this year!
EXPO SUMMIT HOST AN OPEN SPACE
Again, we deeply appreciate your effort in making a different kind of education possible. We genuinely hope to see you at the ZA Share Global PopUp School!
Sincerely,
Ozzie Su

If you're a fan of anything herbal, you might want to give this recipe a try. It's one of the easiest recipes we have on our channel. Simply marinate the chicken, dump it in your rice cooker and voila!
Not a fan of anything herbal but you still want to make something like this for your family? You can use this recipe instead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yFfJAUjXD8&t=191s and cook it in your rice cooker in the same way as Roland did in this video.
See the ingredient list below for your easy reference.
The device we used in this video is La Gourmet Healthy Rice Cooker. Our kind sponsor sent us their new rice cooker to try and truly, we are impressed!! With this new rice cooker, we have banished our normal rice cooker to our store room. I mean - why not? It's like going on a healthy diet without even trying. We can eat rice as usual but it's actually healthier because it contains 37% lesser starch. Solid!
This rice cooker also comes with various other cooking functions which makes it really an awesome buy. Time for you to ditch your normal rice cooker!
For your reference, please see below to see how much water and rice to use when cooking rice. The portion used is for 4 people so if you're feeding lesser or more people (or simply you’re a a rice monster) , please adjust accordingly.
Please note that when using La Gourmet Healthy Rice Cooker, the low starch rice function will only work if you're cooking plain rice i.e. only when cooking rice and water with no other ingredients. If you want to add other ingredients, you can still use the La Gourmet Healthy Rice Cooker, just use the rice function to cook your rice. If you're doing so, please use the portion below listed for normal rice cooker.
Hope this helps! Buy buy buy, must buy!!!

If you like to get this La Gourmet Healthy Rice Cooker, head to our major departmental stores in Singapore (Takashimaya, Isetan, Robinsons, Courts, BHG, OG, Metro, Tangs) Do check out Lazada too because La Gourmet sells some of their products there too. La Gourmet is also available in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Hope you can find them in your home country.
Ingredients
--------
Serves 4 -5 pax
Group A Ingredients
--------
5g of ginseng roots
5g of Angelica roots
Soak Group A ingredients in 1/2 cup (125ml) of hot water. Wait until they have cooled down before using them (including the water) to marinate your chicken
Group B
------
1/2 tablespoon of cekur root powder (sorry for the typos in the video- you can look for galangal powder if you can’t find cekur powder and last resort is to use ginger powder)
2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
2 tablespoons of light soy sauce
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing Huatiao wine)
1 stalk of spring onion (lightly smash the stem)
1 kg chicken
3 tablespoons of dark soy sauce (although we rubbed 2 tablespoons on the chicken followed by 1 tablespoon to the sauce much later but you can add them as part of the marinade)
Add Group A & B ingredients together and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Group C
------
A few stalks of spring onion
20g of young ginger - sliced
Lay Group C ingredients in the rice cooker first before adding the chicken. Remember to add the rest of the marinade to cook with the chicken. Cook the chicken for about 28 minutes and check that the chicken is thoroughly cooked before serving.
Group D
------
Some cornstarch solution
Some chopped spring onion
Once you have removed the chicken from the pot, remove the spring onion and ginger as well. You can discard the spring onion and ginger. Bring the sauce a boil first then add some cornstarch solution to thicken your sauce. Spring onion is optional so it's entirely up to you.
