Teochew porridge craving kinda day. The geography determines the palate when it comes to food and Teochew food is one that's very widely consumed when the ancestors arrived Nanyang. Since then the straits Chinese has got their unique way in presenting the palate through flavours infused with the growth of multi cultural presence in our country. Nowadays, most chap fan place makes porridge decent enough to fix that crave but the only thing of top concern is probably the pre cooking handles. It would be such a bummer if a delicious spread as such is jeopardised by evitable flaws like a mouthful of dirt still trapped in between them vegetables! Yup... You've guessed it right. It happened to me here, and it's damn potong stim la.... Hahaha.

"CHERYL TAY, YOU'RE AN IRONMAN!" Wow, those words felt like a million bucks when I crossed the finish line. It was definitely a long day, with my mental and physical limits being tested and pushed. And I couldn't hold back the tears when I finished, whew.

Leading up to this race, the preparation had its challenges. The hours were long, the fatigue was insane, stress levels were getting harder to manage and in the middle of my training block I suffered plantar fasciitis on both heels. This was a real bummer as it threw a spanner into the works and I had to stop running for three weeks.

At one point I even considered changing to the 70.3 distance instead because I was getting really worried that I didn't get to do any long runs. But my heel conditions improved and I managed to start running again so I decided to just do it! And I'm glad I did.

Langkawi is infamous for being a tough course and it will take a lot, or everything, out of you. Being my first Ironman, my aim was to finish it in one piece. I don't know how my body will feel, I don't know how the distance will be, so it's a whole new experience!

There are so many things I wanna say about the entire race and I'll do it in my race report which will go on the blog soon. Right now my body feels so battered and the abrasions are freaking painful, so it's time to rest up and take a good break... and get my social life back haha.

Retort Bento RetoBen 'Gyu-Don Beef Bowl'. This is new type bento and I like the concept. It's convenient because you can eat it without microwave(without heating). The expiration date is long(3 years), so it's a kind of emergency foods. Btw, Today(September 1st) is Disaster Prevention Day. 　The day reminds us of the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. The RetoBen is suitable for that day, isn't it? The only thing is I felt the process(especially before microwave) wasn't appetizing. The tastes is very good so it's a bit bummer. The drink is Fruit Punch Jelly. It contains fruits pulp and nata de coco. The package images Hanabi fire works. I want to see Hanabi festivals next year. The bento is about 500 yen(4.6 USD), The drink is 250 yen(2.3 USD).

My first prenatal doctor's appointment and I didn't get tested for pregnancy which was very strange to me. I figure they were suppose to take it regardless for confirmation but I guess not. I just had some blood work for my glucose and and flu shot vaccine that was highly recommended but he nurse. I've never taken it but since they say it's better for pregnant women then I just went with it. I also requested a panorama test to determine any abnormalities such as down syndrome and the test also can detect the baby's gender at 11-14 weeks but they only offer it to women over 35 years old so that was a bummer. The visit didn't give me much info. Hospital was quite messy and dirty and I felt like there wasn't much care into the patients. Maybe I should reconsider another OBGYN.
