我不明白，在這種敏感時期

為什麼警察還是看似無所謂的，這樣子連開開7槍。

7槍欸！不是1槍，是7槍。

那意思也就是 你活著算你幸運的意思

其實一直以來我都認為種族歧視是無解的
是我們這個世代無法改變的
但還是要宣誓嗎？還是要！
但真的改變的了人心 或是 心中的陰影嗎？
就像是性別平權
就算同志結婚，還是有很多人在歧視同志，或是不同方式的霸凌 。

在台灣，警察會開槍，是要非常嚴重的情況下才能開，舉例：嫌犯開車逃跑，在逃跑中各種逆向行駛，已經再三廣播停下，還是不停，才會開槍。
或是
嫌犯已經嚴重讓警察感受到生命危險時，才會開槍。

而且警察每一顆子彈都要寫報告書的
所以真的很少開槍
只要有開槍會上新聞。

我認為能夠改變的只有法律，改變警察執法上的標準。

真心希望美國可以更好

This is the English translation of a post of another ICU physician in Bergamo, Dr. Daniele Macchini. Read until the end. After much thought about whether and what to write about what is happening to us, I felt that silence was not responsible.

I will therefore try to convey to people far from our reality what we are living in Bergamo in these days of Covid-19 pandemic. I understand the need not to create panic, but when the message of the dangerousness of what is happening does not reach people I shudder.

All this rapid transformation brought an atmosphere of silence and surreal emptiness to the corridors of the hospital that we did not yet understand, waiting for a war that was yet to begin and that many (including me) were not so sure would ever come with such ferocity.

Doctors who move beds and transfer patients, who administer therapies instead of nurses. Nurses with tears in their eyes because we can't save everyone, and the vital parameters of several patients at the same time reveal an already marked destiny.

There are no more shifts, no more hours. Social life is suspended for us. We no longer see our families for fear of infecting them. Some of us have already become infected despite the protocols.

A new year is in the offing. A new decade too.

Every end of December, I always reflect on what my most memorable experience was for the year. Usually, it has to do with my work or my relationships. But this year, it's slightly different, as it wasn't something that directly happened to me :

There's this beautyfull young man I know, who occasionally attends my shows. When I did the ABBA Tribute in early December, he attended the show with his family. After the performance, I sent him a 'thank you' text, casually mentioning how I was impressed that his parents were so cool about coming to watch a drag queen perform. His reply simply warmed my heart. It renews my hope for us, for a better future.

Once the year turns 2020, I will have lived in 6 different decades, 2 different centuries and 2 different millennia. I've seen a lot of things. And I've witnessed a lot of hate for LGBT people in Malaysia. Oftentimes I wonder myself why I've stayed here for so long, when it seems like any chance of hope for LGBT acceptance is so improbable. But I love this country. And there IS hope. And things ARE improving, albeit at a glacial pace.

This text from my friend is perfect example of how the world for LGBTs is changing for the better. We must keep striving. And gaining acceptance from your family and loved ones is the first step.

The current Miss Universe, when asked how women can change the way they are seen by the world, offered that women need to 'take up space'. And I think LGBTs need to do the same. We need to be out, and we need to take up space, and make our presence visible, and we need to excel In our education and hold great jobs and run successful businesses and hold important leadership positions. And people will eventually see that our sexual orientation does not infringe on our capabilities to contribute as a productive member of society. We can't be hiding anymore. The longer we stay in the shadows, the longer it will take for people out there to learn that we are not deviants trying to threaten their existence.

But it starts in the family. We need the support and acceptance from our loved ones. Because from that, we build our confidence. From that, we grow our strengths. I hope we will all strive and fight so that we can all be free to come out, and receive that support and acceptance.

Something a little different this time! Got my hands on a preproduction unit of the brand new EOS R5 for a day and decided to take it to the zoo to test out the 8K and IBIS. Shot 8K in IBP. Took some photos as well. This is not a technical test by any means but I did want to try and see how practical it would be in a real day shoot. Unfortunately made a mistake of shooting 4k 60p for two shots of the monkeys at the end and had to scale it up :( I have noticed some blotching in some clips, mainly in the shadows and I'm not sure why). Files were difficult to handle without transcoding. However, they were extremely sharp and detailed. No colour grading/correction done, just used a C-Log to Rec 709 lut provided by Canon. Also, I know its only 1080 but YouTube won't allow me to upload in 8k :(.

I was shooting under blazing hot sun and unfortunately, I did get the camera to overheat for a few periods. Once the camera overheats, you'll have to wait awhile and it will allow you to shoot 3/5 min depending on how long it's been cooling. You won't be able to record 8K and 4K once it overheats but taking photos and HD will work fine.

Tested the IBIS with an EF 100-400mm, mostly shooting at 400mm. NO post stabilisation applied to make sure it was fair. Once again, this is a preproduction unit so things might change in the full version.

Would I shoot 8k? No. It took way too long to edit and export. However, the 8k timelapse is a feature I would definitely use. I see this camera very useful for stock footage shooters who might need to shoot long form content but rather short bursts of 8k clips. I'll share a video with my thoughts on the R5 and R6 soon! (PS: for photography, this thing is well worth it!)

DISCLAIMER: I am a Canon Malaysia EOS Youth Ambassador so I am rather biased. I think Canon makes THE Best cameras in the market but that doesn't mean I won't state issues that I find with the cameras.
