據彭博社與 Kotaku 的報導指出，「任天堂在 7 月份揭露 OLED 版本 Switch 主機的時候，就已經向開發者發放了 4K 開發套件，並要求他們設計支援更高解析度的產品。這套任天堂的開發套件包含了更多的記憶體以相容除錯軟體及額外的接口。」
但，另一方面則有知情人士表示，能夠支援 4K 的系統快最要到明年年底才能問世。這也使得任天堂在技術上處於不利的狀態，股價也因此下滑了20%。
任天堂在回答彭博社的問題時答道「報導是不準確的」，而對於 Kotaku 的提問，則是尚未答覆。
