上週，英國好友Barry在錄音室裡播了他的這首新歌，
當下，我並沒甚麼特別想法。

到了機場，新聞上看到美國的兩黨惡鬥，台灣的選舉，香港的示威遊行。
然而，英國也因脫歐與移民議題對抗分裂。

這首歌，或許唱出很多人的心聲，
我把歌詞翻成中文，在這與大家分享。

有人會將呢首歌歌詞解譯成愛情故事
但係我認為呢首歌表達既係成長、生活、夢想、自由、真理

這首歌是《Twilight》（港譯《吸血新世紀》／台譯《暮光之城》）的插曲，由美國田園詩人及獨立民謠唱作人Samuel Beam的一人樂隊「Iron & Wine」創作，歌詞充滿政治象徵性。

歌詞的中英版本均有很多爭議，尤其《Twilight》粉絲意圖扭曲歌詞去配合愛情故事。在我來看，歌詞寫的是作者對於成長、生活、夢想、自由、真理等的迷思，從小時候熱熱切追求天真的夢想，到冷漠不公的世界把童真扼殺，長大後感到無力、失去自由，變得憤憤不平，只能眼睜睜看著世上所有骯髒的事情。 「Flightless bird」被指是孩提時未能實現的願望，「American Mouth」是美國人自由的宣言，象徵夢想，作者渴望理想的世界，而這個夢到底已經實現，或是一早已失去？這就如我們心底的疑問。

我們現在過的，是我們追求的生活嗎？是我們夢想的世界嗎？
基於這首歌較抽象，並非每個人的理解都一樣，網絡有很多版本，以下是我重新翻譯的中文版本，但不論怎翻，英文歌詞還是最能表達創作者原意，就好像英文無法翻譯唐詩宋詞的精髓。
