While not without its challenges, the Year of the Rat has also brought great lessons and good surprises of its own.
I think my best takeaway (so far) is that we are often much stronger than we believe ourselves to be.

Here’s the simple tip that scholars don’t write down in the textbook. However, it’s already something people intuitively know.
When unsure about how to handle a child’s behaviour, the best guidebook is to see the situation from the child’s perspective.
When we can understand what motivates a child’s behaviour, we will be able to respond in ways that are respectful, encouraging, and most often— what the child needs.
