Neways the Nasi Lemak is usually RM3.50 but we took as per my sis's usual order which is with fried egg and fried chicken RM5.50. Taste wise not bad, less spicy coz my sis requested it. Missing the whole lemak taste like the one I usually get near my office. But I think less santan, tahan longer?

Pecal Jawa RM5 each. Sauce not thick enough for me personally 😂 and pulut panggang RM1 each. Not bad also but needs more filling. Overall ok taste just sambal I prefer spicy. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

We had a whimsical Tea Party Photoshoot with Bloom Photography, woohoo!

The setting, complete with balloons, bunting, teapot, cupcakes and macarons, was so surreal and exquisite that it seemed like a scene pulled out of a beautiful dream or Alice in Wonderland. So pretty, right?

It was a short session - we took less than half an hour on a weekend morning - which was just nice for the kids and I love that they all gave their best smiles that day.

In this video, we whipped up the Ultimate Singaporean Breakfast in Neo’s Kitchen. Since so many of you have requested an Economic Bee Hoon video, I decided to make it a challenge but with a twist. A traditional plate would consist of Bee Hoon/Egg Noodles with a bunch of sides like luncheon meat, eggs and stir-fried vegetables, with a healthy dollop of sambal. However, I came across OmniMeat, a plant-based alternative to your common meats, that offered OmniMeat Luncheon, an imitation luncheon meat. They also offered OmniMeat Strip, which is their equivalent to the sliced cuts of meat commonly used in stir-fries. There is a lucky draw for FairPrice gift vouchers, details are below!

For my challenge, I piled on at least 4 portions each of Bee Hoon and Fried Egg Noodles, together with 9 eggs and 3 packets worth of OmniMeat Luncheon onto my giant plate. My mum helped to cook the egg noodles and also stir-fried the OmniMeat Strip with some vegetables, which I added onto the platter. To round it off, I added a healthy serving of sambal.

The luncheon meat had an almost identical texture and colour to real luncheon meat and it would be difficult to tell the difference at a glance. Flavour-wise, it did taste different but not in a bad way. Luncheon meat normally tastes very salty and processed while OmniMeat Luncheon tasted “cleaner” and felt more like it was comprised of actual ground meat. The OmniMeat strips were pleasant and chewy but it was apparent that it was not meat in the flavour. However, it was far superior to most mock meats I have tried with a palatable taste and rich smoky flavour.

This was a straightforward challenge featuring one of Singapore’s most popular breakfast dishes, Economic Bee Hoon. Jazzed up with plant-based meat, an ever-growing trend that is supposed to be better for the environment, this challenge was healthier than most. OmniMeat Luncheon is certainly far healthier than any canned luncheon meat and would be a great addition to your kitchen. Do note that it requires cooking. If you are hosting for Chinese New Year, OmniMeat would be a great option to have in your spread, especially for vegetarian friends and family. OmniMeat also has a range of other Asian-inspired plant-based alternatives that would not be out of place at a Chinese New Year party. We went down to the Legendary Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice to complete a Curry Rice Challenge! Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice is a famous Hainanese Curry Rice shop located at Jalan Besar. They are a mainstay for late-night patrons looking for an affordable meal, closing only in the wee hours of the morning and a fully-loaded plate would cost between $4-6 dollars depending on your choice of toppings.



Hainanese Curry Rice is a uniquely Singaporean dish inspired by British, Hainanese and Peranakan settlers in Singapore. A standard serving would include a fried egg, pork chops, braised pork belly and braised cabbage piled on white rice before being smothered by a thick, fragrant curry. Different restaurants would have their own take on the curry and toppings provided, with the curry usually being thick but varying in taste.


For my giant plate, I requested 7 portions of rice, a pile of braised cabbage, fried eggs, braised pork belly, chicken chops, pork chops, curried chicken wings, deep-fried tofu and rounded it off with some assorted greens. As per their namesake, each meat item was cut upon serving with a pair of scissors.


This monster plate was then generously topped with curry, the tofu braising liquid and a spicy red gravy, enveloping the entire plate with messy goodness.
The curry was thicker than other places I have tried, barely sweet with a hint of spiciness. It could have been a lot more flavourful. The standout topping would be the pork cutlet, juicy on the inside with a crunchy exterior, with the mild tasting curry allowing the excellent flavour of the cutlet to shine. However, the pork belly was rather disappointing, bland and extremely chewy. Overall, the combination of the 3 sauces with rice and a side is a winning combination, especially considering the cost.
If you are in the area or looking a late-night supper, you could do a lot worse than Beach Road Scissors Cut Curry Rice.
