เมื่อต้นเดือนที่ผ่านมาทาง Kotaku รายงานว่า Rockstar Dundee บริษัทในเครือของ Rockstar กำลังนำ Grand Theft Auto ภาคคลาสสิคทั้ง 3 ภาค ประกอบด้วย GTA 3, GTA Vice City และ GTA San Andreas มาพัฒนาเป็นเกมรีมาสเตอร์กึ่งรีเมคด้วยขุมพลังของ Unreal Engine 4 อย่างไรก็ตาม ด้วยการที่เป็นเกมกึ่งรีเมค ทำให้มันดูไม่น่าประทับใจเท่าม็อดที่นำแผนที่ของภาคเหล่านี้มาสร้างใหม่บนเอนจิ้นของ Grand Theft Auto V

ส่วนม็อดอีกตัวหนึ่งที่ทะเยอทะยานกว่าเล็กน้อย ซึ่งพัฒนาโดยนักม็อดนามว่า lunchxbles ที่เป็นการนำ GTA Vice City ทั้งเกมมาใส่ไว้ใน GTA V ซึ่งม็อดนี้เทียบเคียงได้กับ DLC ตัวหนึ่งที่ฉากและอาคารต่างๆ สามารถเข้าไปสำรวจได้ พร้อมด้วยโมเดลและพื้นผิวใหม่ๆ รวมไปถึงสัญญาณไฟจราจาที่ทำงานได้จริง

แต่น่าเสียดายที่ม็อดทั้ง 2 ตัวได้ถูกทาง Take-Two บริษัทแม่ของ Rockstar สั่งแบนแล้ว ซึ่งทาง DSO Gaming แนะนำว่าให้รีบโหลดไฟล์ม็อดเหล่านี้ ตราบเท่าที่ยังพอสามารถดาวน์โหลดได้จะดีกว่า และให้ความเห็นว่า ตัวเกมรีมาสเตอร์ของ Grand Theft Auto ทั้ง 3 ภาค อาจจะไม่ได้มีกราฟิกที่สวยงามระดับนี้ก็ได้

อย่างที่หลายคนได้ทราบข่าวไปแล้วว่า ในตอนนี้มีข่าวลือว่าทาง Rockstar Games กำลังให้ Rockstar Dundee นำ Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City และ Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas มาพัฒนาเป็นตัวเกมกึ่งรีเมคกึ่งรีมาสเตอร์ และมีกำหนดวางจำหน่ายในช่วงปลายเดือน ต.ค. หรือต้น พ.ย. ที่จะถึงนี้ บน PC คอนโซล และมือถือ

อย่างไรก็ตาม คุณ Tom Henderson แหล่งข่าววงในที่เคยเปิดเผยข่าวล่วงหน้าได้อย่างถูกต้อง ได้ออกมาเคลื่อนไหวและแย้งว่า เราอาจจะต้องรอนานกว่านั้น

จากรายงานของ Kotaku ระบุว่า ได้รับข้อมูลจากแหล่งข่าวที่เชื่อถือได้ ระบุว่า Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas และ Grand Theft Auto: Vice City เวอร์ชันรีมาสเตอร์กำลังอยู่ในระหว่างการพัฒนา ซึ่งมีแผนจะวางจำหน่ายในช่วงปลายเดือน ต.ค. หรือต้นเดือน พ.ย. บน PS4, PS5, XBSX|S, XB1, Switch, PC, Stadia และมือถือ

ซึ่ง Grand Theft Auto ทั้ง 3 ภาคจะได้รับการรีมาสเตอร์ด้วย Unreal Engine ที่ผสมผสานกันระหว่างกราฟิกเก่าและใหม่ (ซึ่งแหล่งข่าวรายหนึ่งชี้ว่า คล้ายๆ Grand Theft Auto ที่ผ่านการม็อดกราฟิกมาหนักๆ) และจะยังคงไว้ซึ่งเกมเพลย์แบบดั้งเดิม แต่จะมีการปรับปรุง UI ให้ดีขึ้น ที่น่าสนใจก็คือ Rockstar Dundee (หรืออดีตก็คือ Ruffian Games) สตูดิโอใหม่ภายใต้ Rockstar Games เป็นผู้พัฒนารีมาสเตอร์นี้

นอกจากนี้ยังมีรายงานด้วยว่าทาง Rockstar Games กำลังวางแผนที่จะพอร์ต Red Dead Redemption ภาคแรกมาลงคอนโซลยุคปัจจุบันและแพลตฟอร์มต่างๆ ด้วย แต่ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับว่า Grand Theft Auto เวอร์ชันรีมาสเตอร์สามารถทำยอดขายได้ดีขนาดไหน
