I've been a workaholic since college - studying on weekdays, and working part-time for events and roadshows on weekends. After completing my undergraduate studies, I decided to take the leap and join a events company as a Sales Executive. It was definitely challenging taking on the role as a fresh graduate, as the job scope was entirely different from my prior experience working as an event crew.
Thankfully, I had seniors who were patient and guided me along the way. I learnt a lot from them, and this also helped me to build up my confidence and communication skills, allowing me to converse with clients from various industries. I enjoyed the work I did in the events company, but after about 2.5 years, I decided it was finally time to step out of my comfort zone, and moved on to work in influencer marketing.
Doing something entirely different from what you're already familiar with is not easy, but it's also not impossible. What's important is to always have faith in yourself and your abilities, and remind yourself that you are strong and capable enough to overcome challenges that come your way. The future may be uncertain, but your choices can make a huge difference.
