Explored the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct last weekend to enjoy the annual National Day light-up of buildings.
The seven buildings lit up this year are an interesting mix of gazetted national monuments, like the Central Fire Station and Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, as well as not so well-known sites, like the old Middle Road Church at the corner of Waterloo Street and Middle Road. While their functions have been changed over the years, these historical buildings have all played a part in our Singapore story.
I was hoping to capture all seven buildings, but got rained out (as you can see from the Central Fire Station photo), so missed two of them. Please share your pics of Cathay Building and the National Museum (and the others too), lit up for National Day!
I hope these beautiful night lights will inspire you to keep the Singapore Spirit high and bright. Looking forward to the NDP show this Saturday! ✨🇸🇬 – LHL

MADAGASCAR THE MUSICAL!! 🐾🦒🦓🦛
***
Ella Grace really enjoyed her time last night at the musical which brought in their full UK cast including sets and costumes. Bright lights, big singing, flashy dance numbers, it was a treat! 😍✨
We had Cat A nosebleed seats 😂😂, she still loved it and was really immersed into the musical though if I’m honest, if you can afford it, for the KLCC Plenary Hall and how they have sectioned out the seats, spring for the premium and vip seats (not further back then the second section at the very furthest) as you’ll be able to really see the expressions and interact w the characters which really adds so much to the experience.
The first half moves a bit slow, especially if you have never seen the movie and aren’t familiar with the characters or songs but the second half was an absolute treat for Ella Grace as well as mama and daddy. We laughed, we danced, we sang, we played, it was awesome. There’s a King Julien lemur that absolutely has my heart he was so hilarious!
The biggest drawback is really just the timing. The 90 minute show plus a 20 min intermission only starts at about 8:30pm (but w Malaysian timing was really more like 8:45 😅😅) which meant lots of very tired little ones. If you can, try and get tickets for their last show, 11am on Sunday or 3pm matinee on Saturday.
I let Ella Grace nap twice (afternoon nap and a quick 30min nap at her usual 7pm bedtime) just to try and get her to stay awake and thankfully, she did w no major meltdown! 🙌🙌 The good news is that she was invested enough in the experience that sheer willpower and determination really kept her up as well as some catchy dance songs in the second half!
We even stayed and got in line to meet the cast. An extra perk if you purchase the program book at RM20 which these suckah parents totally did. Get in line quick though, due to labor laws, the cast don’t stay out the entire line and it’s really “siapa cepat dia dapat”.
Madagascar the musical plays for 3 more days, details in the poster and if you have a musical/play/arts loving child (and mama) like mine, it’s worth the time and investment!
How much did we want to go for it?!? We bought these tickets before we were even offered tickets to go so this review is completely unsponsored and legit, Ella Bella approved!
It’s not as polished as their Disney counterparts and there are a few choice words and sections for little ones but still a super fun night and one we would absolutely do again or as Ella Grace said at the end of the night, “Mama, can we come back again tomorrow?”
😂❤️✨

What a Saturday! It started bright & sunny for us at Sentosa. At the school’s children’s day carnival, Arielle made her first slime, played with dough, had strawberry ice cream AND CRIED at the body art booth because she thought she was going to have an injection. 🤣 After a few months of considerations, we have decided on the school to enrol Arielle at in January. She will be 22 months old! Arielle is with my parents for the night, Alvin is playing mahjong with his family while I’m at a wedding. Hope your weekend is going beautifully too! ♥️ @ Hard Rock Hotel Sentosa Resorts World
