It has hit home.

One of Ale's classmates was tested positive for COVID-19 so as a precaution, her entire class was placed under quarantine. (Ale's PCR test is negative)

We were given the option of either a hotel or home quarantine. The former would mean one parent accompanying Ale for an extended staycation while the latter would mean the entire household will have to stay home too.

We chose to stay home.

The wifey is working from home anyway while I can have my work appointments virtually so no big issues there. Most disruptive would be to the 2 boys since they won't be able to go to school if Ale serves her quarantine at home. In the end, Ayd applied for a Leave of Absence from school since he is able to do his school work mostly online while Ash shifted to his grandparent's house for the time being so that he can continue to attend school (but not before he submits a self-administered negative ART result).

There goes our National Day long weekend then. On a personal note, I'm relieved I completed my Full Marathon before the Quarantine Order came in. 😅

Oh, and Canteen Uncle is BACK y'all! 😎

Mom went for her first vaccine jab today at station 3, PWTC. She has been really nervous since the day I told her about her appointment and honestly I was as nervous as her. There was a lot of questions playing in my head. Will mom pull out last minute from fear, how would my little old lady go thru all that crowd, the vaccine centre so huge and there’s a few places that would require scanning and the usage of MYsejahtera app, how would mom coup and will the vaccine given react well to her ..
I mean I’ve gone to the same station and I have been so taken with the effort, gentleness, helpfulness given by all the volunteers, doctors and everyone there but like a nervous parent at their kids first day of school I still had my worries when it came to
Moms turn. But to all my delight everyone was extra helpful, extra gentle, extra polite when it came to Senior citizens. They know how stress and how scared the senior citizens are and they put in the extra effort in making them comfortable .. Subhanallah ... there is not enough thank yous that I can give to each and everyone of you that eased my moms day today .. thank you, thank you and thank you 3000 from me Baki Zainal. You guys are HEROES that should be celebrated .
Of course, it was good to see mama’s smile after her session. She’s feeling a bit warm and sleepy .. so my shift starts now. Gonna be monitoring my little old lady for this next 2 days.
For you out there whose parents are still not sure .. show them mamas video and hopefully this can help them change their minds.. insyallah ..

Given the continued virulence of the virus, it is still unclear when is the reopening date for 2021. These decisions carry enormous social and economic implications and will have lasting effects on educators, on children and youth, on their parents – especially women – and indeed on societies as a whole.

My parent group chats is abuzz with these speculation – especially those who have been sending their kids to Kindergartens and/or private schools. With many losing jobs or getting huge pay cuts at work, the question on whether they can continue paying for their kids school education is on their minds. Pleas for rebates and discounts has been a continuous debate for most and even for us, while waiting for news from our school, we are now contemplating whether we should one, pull them out and try to apply for government schooling, two, homeschool and hire private tutors which is a bit more cost friendly or three “wait and see” method.

There are pros and cons for all these choices above, but at the end of the day, we want what’s best for the child. How are our children going to manage physically, emotionally and mentally with whatever decision we make?

What are the other possible solutions or options? Is there a possibility of hybrid learning and/or online schooling elsewhere that will be accepted by the school later on?
