The Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced new measures today to deal with the sharp increase in cases, and help us get safely to being a COVID-19 resilient nation.
First, we are protecting the capacity of our healthcare system.
Second, we are ramping up our operations to support fully vaccinated COVID-19 cases who recover at home. SAF is supporting MOH in home recovery operations.
Third, we are supporting businesses who are affected by the new restrictions.
The new Community Treatment Facilities (CTF) will provide closer monitoring and management of stable patients with co-morbidities and who are otherwise asymptomatic or have no symptoms. By placing more COVID-19 patients in the CTFs, we will free up hospital beds for more serious cases.
The new measures will give us more time to deliver booster shots to people, and vaccinate those still not vaccinated. Meanwhile, we are also expanding our hospital capacity. This will ensure that our healthcare system is not overwhelmed and can continue to take good care of all those who need medical care, whether for COVID-19 or other conditions.
We have to adapt our response to COVID-19 as the pandemic develops. I know the changes can be confusing and unsettling, but please bear with us. We will work closely with you to protect all our families. – LHL

Happy to receive Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto earlier today.
Singapore and Indonesia share a strong friendship. I discussed with Pak Airlangga possibilities for new collaboration, including the digital economy. Our ties are growing despite the pandemic, and we are also working closely to overcome COVID-19.
Indonesia is currently experiencing a surge in cases. To help our neighbour and friend, Singapore is donating medical supplies to Indonesia. We hope that their situation will stabilise soon. We look forward to doing more together, to seize opportunities in a post-COVID future. – LHL

Today, the Multi-Ministry Task Force announced further restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19. The measures start this Sunday, 16 May, and will be in place till 13 June.
The new clusters and unlinked community cases in the past fortnight are very worrying. We are testing more intensively, and doing our utmost to ring-fence the transmissions. But we also need stricter restrictions to stop more cases from popping up.
Please stay at home as far as possible, go out only for essential tasks, and follow government advisories. If you do go out, remember to practise safe distancing measures, like using TraceTogether and wearing a mask.
Also do get vaccinated once it is offered to you. This will protect yourself and your loved ones.
The new measures will be difficult for everybody. But if we all play our part and look out for one another, we will succeed in stemming the transmission of the virus, just like we did last year. – LHL
