Called Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today to congratulate him on becoming Malaysia’s 9th Prime Minister.

Malaysia and Singapore enjoy deep, warm, and multi-faceted relations. We have many common interests, and our peoples have familial ties across the border. Over the years, we have often worked closely on shared challenges, including in this pandemic. Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri co-chaired the Singapore-Malaysia Special Working Committee on COVID-19 with SM Teo Chee Hean, to oversee the continued movement of people and goods across our borders.

With Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri’s wealth of experience in public service and government, I am confident that our bilateral relationship will continue to flourish.

美國 The Project 2049 Institute主席薛瑞福、日本自民黨眾議員 牧島かれん ／ Karen Makishima、韓國前副總理玄旿錫、越南外交部前副部長范光榮等重量級人物都將出席

This year’s #KetagalanForum: Asia-Pacific Security Dialogue will take place on August 31 online! The opening keynote speech will be delivered by former #US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft, followed by a series of panels.

A distinguished range of political figures, scholars, and experts from #Taiwan, the #UnitedStates, #Japan, #France, #Australia, #India, #Singapore, #SouthKorea, #Vietnam, and the #Philippines will discuss regional security issues in the panel sessions, including Taiwan Strait developments, prospects for the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, gray zone coercion, and the postpandemic economic outlook.

Panelists include Randall Schriver, Chairman of the Project 2049 Institute, Makishima Karen, Member of the Japanese House of Representatives, Peter Jennings, Executive Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Hyun Oh-seok, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Pham Quang Vinh, former Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Bert Hofman, Director of the East Asia Institute of the National University of Singapore.

Yesterday marked a significant anniversary few know about. 70 years ago, on 7 August 1951, Mr Lee Kuan Yew was called to the Singapore Bar. As a lawyer, he often represented trade unions pro bono. This paved the way for him to enter politics, and eventually become Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister.

As PM, Mr Lee took an active hand in creating a robust system of laws and an effective legal framework. Thanks to his efforts, today we enjoy the rule of law, and good law and order prevails in Singapore. – LHL

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced yesterday that the circuit breaker will be extended for 4 weeks until June 1st, 2020. One of the reasons is because local transmissions have not decreased. (Plus, there are huge clusters at foreign worker dorimitories)
