為英國電影協會發行的雜誌《Sight&Sound》畫的專欄插畫（發行了89年）。這篇是採訪喬治亞的導演Déa Kulumbegashvili，圖中是喬治亞的Tbilisi市區，從蘇維埃年代存活下來至今還在運行的電影院建築。查了很多資料後還是不會念導演和城市的名字。

電影院大概兩年沒踏進去過了，昨晚睡前播了一些電影配樂陪小孩睡覺，想到那些能讓我全神進入另一個時空的故事真好。

接下來幾個月都會為雜誌《Sight&Sound》畫一篇訪談，謝謝藝術總監Chris和設計師Cleber。

The illustration I did for Sight & Sound Magazine published by the British Film Institute. The column is an interview with Georgian film director Déa Kulumbegashvili. And the architecture in the image is the Cinema House in Tbilisi, which is the only Soviet cinema in the city that still functions as a theatre today.

I haven’t stepped into a cinema for about 2 years. Last night I played some film soundtracks before going to sleep with my kid. It was nice to think of those stories that transported me to a different space:)

From our first meeting with the director last year to filming the first half in March to postponing filming the second half to April then May because of bad weather. Then we got hit by a COVID outbreak which pushed filming back even further! Finally, following all COVID level three restrictions and a couple bad sunburns later we finally wrapped in July!! Looking back the lyrics foreshadowed everything, “we wait for good weather, good vibes, good attitudes and good luck!” 😂 Huge thank you to the entire film crew for working overtime just so we can make today’s MV premiere! My first solo wedding in awhile. David and Beatrice are a beautiful couple that had their wedding in an equally gorgeous location, Janda Baik in Malaysia. It was a smooth sailing day and hardly any hiccups. Such a treat an honour to film their wedding.

TECHNICAL ASPECT:

This was the first time shooting a full day video shoot with the Canon 1DX Mark iii. Wanted to step away from the whole "cinematic wedding" video and start developing a documentary style of wedding videos and I'm really happy with how everything turned out! Used a 24MM F1.4 ii, 35MM F1.4ii, 100mm F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8.

The whole piece felt much nicer when graded a little softer. Used Film Convert with a Kodak Portra 400 look. The camera performed very well but like all log footage, don't underexpose. Still wasn't fully well versed with the camera so I made some slight mistakes with white balance and exposure on a few shots. Overall very happy with the image quality and usability of the camera!

This was a late night testing the Canon 70-210mm f3.5-4.5 just to see how it does for videos on my Sony A7s with a Commlite adapter. The 70-210mm f3.5-4.5 is quite affordable option if you cannot afford the Canon 70-200mm f4 L as you can find it for around 100bucks or even less second hand.

Personally I do like how it renders blurry backgrounds and does have a certain filmic look. But one thing is filming at 210mm you really need quite a distance between you and the subject, but this lens does not have any stabilisation and probably be nicer to use on the markii series of the A7 cams, as these were filmed on a monopod but still hard to hold it steady while filming at 210mm, otherwise a tripod is really required. Macro wise using on a full frame its not that extreme, but on APSC crop mode it does help more getting the image closer for a macro. Overal do like the looks of shots and do feel its more filmic then a 50mm f1.8 with it looks, but its not so great but wide shots indoors but usable for macro shots, but do need a tripod instead of a monopod to make it easier to use and lessening the shake and drift.
