Fulfilled Prophecies about Jesus Christ
It is amazing that Psalm 22 was written roughly 1000 years before Jesus Christ was born, and yet it accurately predicts the way that He would die.
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?” (Psalms 22:1 WEB)
Jesus said these words while on the cross. You could argue that He knew the Scriptures and could have easily quoted them.
But surely He couldn’t orchestrate the way people would despise and insult Him while He hung on the cross. Even the words used are the same:
“But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people. All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying, “He trusts in Yahweh; let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him.”” (Psalms 22:6-8 WEB)
When the Roman soldier pierced Jesus’ side, blood and water flowed out, showing that His heart was literally broken (ruptured).
“I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax; it is melted within me.” (Psalms 22:14 WEB)
He was thirsty. Remember He said “I thirst.”
“My strength is dried up like a potsherd. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death.” (Psalms 22:15 WEB)
Jesus’ hands and feet were nailed to the cross. His body was torn by the stripes inflicted by the whip lashes He endured.
“For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet. I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me.” (Psalms 22:16-17 WEB)
The expensive robes that Jesus wore were from Herod’s palace, so the Roman soldiers gambled for His robes, at the foot of the cross.
“They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” (Psalms 22:18 WEB)
It is amazing how many prophecies about the Messiah are in this psalm alone. Jesus fulfilled them at the cross.
One more remains unfulfilled:
“All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you. For the kingdom is Yahweh’s. He is the ruler over the nations. All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.” (Psalms 22:27-29 WEB)
This one will be fulfilled when Jesus returns to reign on earth. He will set up His physical kingdom on earth and reign over the earth for a thousand years with us, until the final Satanic rebellion.
The preceding prophecies in Psalm 22 have already been fulfilled, so we believe and are certain that all the remaining prophecies will be fulfilled too.
“And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. They went up over the width of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them. The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (Revelation 20:7-10 WEB)
This real-life story has a happy ending. The devil will be torment continually, and we will enjoy eternity with God forever. Are you excited? I am! Hallelujah!
When Jesus establishes His Millennial kingdom, He will hold a great feast called the “Marriage Feast of the Lamb”. That event is also an awards ceremony for believers. The Crucified King is Now Glorified
“Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”” (Matthew 26:53-54 WEB)
A Roman legion is a formation of about six thousand soldiers, so twelve legions would be seventy two thousand angels!
When I read the passage above, I am awed by Jesus’ love—how He uses His infinite majesty and power in a self-sacrificial way to save us.
Jesus could have chosen to abort the mission of saving mankind at any moment of time.
At one command, He could have legions of angels to kill all those who mocked Him. He didn’t do that—Jesus takes no pleasure in punishing the wicked.
He wasn’t forced to submit to the Father’s will. Jesus chose to obey even until the very end, when He could declared “It is finished!”
The cruel nails pierced His hands and feet, and all the blood in His body was drained out of His lash wounds.
Every sickness and iniquity was laid upon Him, such that His visage was more disfigured than any man.
The King of glory was stripped of His perfect beauty. The fiery wrath of God was poured out upon Jesus and every sin was punished in His body, such that He thirsted from being seared with hellfire.
What kept Him going was the joy waiting on the other side—where mankind could be redeemed and reconciled to God. The vision of a glorious, eternal royal priesthood to God.
I’m so thankful that Jesus didn’t give up on us when the evil men were spitting on Him, pulling his beard, hitting Him and humiliating Him.
Our Lord endured it all and His love for us didn’t diminish one bit. He still believed that we are worth His great sacrifice.
Jesus humbled Himself so low in obedience to the Father to the extent of public death by crucifixion.
He who was rejected by all is destined to be the central focus of worship from all. In the end, every knee will bow & every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!””
(Revelation 5:12)

Victory in Jesus’ Name
“Asa had an army of three hundred thousand out of Judah who bore bucklers and spears, and two hundred eighty thousand out of Benjamin who bore shields and drew bows. All these were mighty men of valor. Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah. Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Yahweh our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Yahweh, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.” So Yahweh struck the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar: and so many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before Yahweh and before his army; and they carried away very much booty.” (2 Chronicles 14:8-13 WEB)
The Ethiopian army was almost double the size of Judah’s army.
In this challenging time for the world, many have lost their jobs and are depending on their dwindling savings to survive.
It may seem like your resources or strength remaining is greatly insufficient for the challenges ahead of you.
Perhaps you don’t have enough money to pay your bills. Or maybe you have no strength left to handle the sea of tasks and chores remaining.
Instead of dreading your doom, why not switch your perspective to become excited to see Jesus’ great deliverance in your life?
It is an opportunity for Him to demonstrate His glory and power. It will be a great show to watch, and you have front-row seats.
When you exit unbelief and enter faith, you will see your victory over the challenges.
Jesus will turn the tide in your favor. When you have Him, your side becomes the majority.
Asa declared that there was no one to help besides Yahweh. He called himself “him who has no strength”.
In other words, he ceased from self efforts, and placed all his faith in the Lord.
Asa didn’t depend on the bucklers, spreads, shields and bows. He went out to battle relying only on the name of Yahweh.
