「鳥，是地球上最偉大的音樂家。」長期觀察鳥類的法國作曲家梅湘 (Olivier Messiaen, 1908-1992) 曾如此說。梅湘寫於1952年的Le merle noir，為其最早以鳥鳴為主題的作品。國人作曲家侯志正教授選擇不繪「聲」僅繪「影」，2006年譜寫的《喜鵲》，乃以長笛描繪喜鵲優雅身形與高貴氣質。而Leanna Primiani (b. 1978) 的《黑天鵝》(Black Swan) 中，鋼琴家化身為登山客，領著聽眾聆聽藏於曲中、由長笛奏出的15種不同鳥叫聲。以beatbox flutist聞名的長笛演奏家、作曲家Brandy Hudelson (b. 1980)，不僅鑽研beatbox與長笛結合的演奏技巧，並譜寫大量使用beatbox技巧的長笛獨奏曲。本次將演出Hudelson 的Wild Nightingale，別開蹊徑的獨特演奏方式，是獨奏家給自身的挑戰。本次特別邀請單簧管演奏家高承胤，一同演出美籍作曲家Schoenfield的Sonatina。
