Owing to #LGD’s slow yield improvement and the #TV_panel market’s downtrend in 4Q19, LGD has deferred its 4Q19 plans to mass produce #OLED TV panels at its Guangzhou-based Gen 8.5 fab to 1H20.
LGD plans to begin mass production at its Guangzhou fab in April in hopes that it will help the company quickly raise both input and output levels while expanding its clientele. Also, LGD aims to raise the penetration rate of OLED TVs from 1.4% in 2019 to 2% this year.
However, as the pandemic proliferates and countries go into lockdown, it’s worth keeping an eye on both LGD’s projected mass production schedule at the Guangzhou fab and whether the market for end-products will further decline due to the pandemic.
