THE WORLD’S WILDLIFE NEEDS YOU!
I filmed this dead rhino in South Africa 6 years ago and it forced me to start my campaign to raise awareness about the illegal wildlife trade and help protect the earth’s biodiversity.
40% of the world’s wildlife has disappeared in the last 40 years, the illegal wildlife trade is still rampant and the rate of extinction is more than a hundred times greater than it has been over the last 10 million year. In 2019 the world watched as fires ripped through the Amazon largely due to clearing for farming and the last remaining rainforests in Indonesia continued to be raised to the ground for the illegal palm oil industry.
And recently witnessed the apocalyptic bushfires in Australia destroyed thousands of homes and killed up to 1 billion animals. We are entering the age of the 6th Mass extinction and if we don’t do something within the next 10 years scientists estimate we could wipe up to 1 million species of the next few decades.
And it’s glaringly obvious: without biodiversity Humans can’t survive.
This Sunday Jan 26th, I’ll be leading the Project C:CHANGE Kilimanjaro Charity climb with a team of 11 international climbers to generate awareness about the biodiversity crisis, illegal wildlife trade.
The climb will be carbon offset and we’re aiming to raise at least 150K USD from now until the end of Feb 2020!
