Wahoo! Got my AZ first dose! Thank goodness I’m here in Taiwan where access to vaccinations are quick and easy to schedule by booking an appointment with their online system. I got mine done bright and early at a local elementary school. They are so organized and fast. I got there at 9AM we’re filed into classrooms, got vaccinated and then were told to wait until 930AM in case there were any problems, and like clockwork at 930 AM everyone left the classroom single file perfectly socially distanced from the classroom all the way out onto the street. Love the people here! Always concerned about the well-being of others.
After that dose, I was feeling on top of the world! We took a nice drive to visit my dad on Yangming mountain. Bringing the kiddos along to pay their respects. Spending a perfect sunny day with the family!
Then when I got home, and right after dinner it hit me. I was so fatigued, I had to jump into bed, never to get out of bed until the next morning. I shivered until I wrapped myself into a burrito and then because I think I wrapped myself too tight I probably caused my own fever. All the while being extremely sore all over my body, so I couldn’t sleep. Finally the next morning, I felt better. (Of course I didn’t tell Vincent Soberano that, so I could milk my “side effects” longer.)
Did you get your Covid Vaccine yet? My advice to those who haven’t taken their first dose yet, make sure you stay hydrated!

Grief.
It's something no one wishes to experience. Yet, it happens to everyone at one point or another in our lives. Actually, it doesn't happen just once. The older we get, grief will come knocking on our doors every once in a while because that is just how life works .While I've always tried to look on the bright side of life, July was truly a turbulent and depressing month for me.
You see, while still dealing with the shocking local news regarding mental health issues and trying my best to have an open discussion with the kids as we head into the exam period, my own world fell apart when I was informed that my beloved grandma was hospitalised and in a coma.
For the next two weeks, it was terribly dreadful that we couldn't visit her due to the pandemic restrictions. We had video calls with her almost every day to tell her we love her and gently urge her to wake up but I wanted to be by her side so, so badly. My spirits were lifted when my Mum told me she opened her eyes and we even heard her saying "Bye bye". Surely that is a good sign and she is getting better, right?
Alas, things deteriorated swiftly and by the end of that fortnight, she decided to leave this world. I can't go into details now without being a wreck because I just miss her so much and have so many regrets. For now, I am working on gathering her photos and making a video so that my kids will always remember her. I guess when I am ready, I will dedicate a post to her and pour my feelings out. But for now, I'm just not brave enough to do it yet. In this post of "Happiness is...", I've realised it's okay to sometimes be a little lost and a little sad.

Light in your Whole Body
““No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness. If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”” (Luke 11:33-36 WEB)
Your eyes are like lamps and your body is like a room.
In a modern context, imagine that your eyes are like a ceiling light that you can switch on.
When you watch, read, and look at good things, you are allowing light to fill your body.
On the other hand, when you keep focusing on negative materials that produce fear, stress, worry, or any such thing, your body will be full of darkness.
The effect of such things is that you will feel lethargic, depressed, weak, and even experience mental or physical ailments (such as headaches).
When your body is filled with darkness, it means that you will experience death related effects like sickness, aging, ugliness, and even physical death.
The flip side is also true: if you focus on good things, like on God’s word and on Jesus, you will experience the benefits of light in your body: healing, health, youth renewal, added beauty, and long life.
If you want to stop physical aging in its tracks, you must receive a daily infusion of life. Feed on God’s word every day—even a little bit is good. Meditate on a piece of Scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to open your understanding to it. Ask Him to show you revelations about Jesus in the Word, and you will be transformed as you behold Him.
“My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:20-23 WEB)
God’s word is light and life to your whole body. What you receive through your eyes and ears will reach your heart if you accept it. Guard your heart—it contains your belief system, which affects what you do and experience in life.
Receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ with gladness. You will be strengthened from the inside-out!
