【金馬奇幻影展之一：衝破黑暗谷 / TOMMY】奇幻影展一開跑，我的第一場就是大名鼎鼎的《衝破黑暗谷》，即The Who樂團四十多年前的搖滾專輯改編的電影《TOMMY》。我得說，真有小開眼界的感覺哪！那嘉年華式的影像、不顧邏輯的服裝場景變幻，有效地把搖滾樂中那衝破世俗界線、奔求感官體驗的能量表現出來了。一百一十分鐘的高速奔馳，卻不覺得膩。過癮。

做為英倫史上最強的樂團之一，《TOMMY》也的確讓我可惜沒早點認識The Who，否則應能得到更多樂趣吧？全片只有一首〈Sparks〉是我認得的，連CSI邁阿密之歌（噗）都沒出現；而這樣的形式稱作「搖滾歌劇」（Rock Opera），雖然感覺跟我們熟悉的流行音樂劇（Pop Musical）差不多，尤其從氣質到主題、都讓人想起韋伯的《萬世巨星（Jesus Christ Superstar）》或後來的《微風輕哨（Whistle Down the Wind）》，可見搖滾樂及其現場演出的陣勢，跟「救世主」意象真的密不可分啊！片中也到處是喻體，如十字架和飛機剪影和主角湯米的「T」字輪廓重疊，在在是符碼，非常易尋。

當年在這片的演出，也讓安瑪格麗特抱回一座金球獎最佳女主角（還入圍了奧斯卡）。《TOMMY》的主題也許是對大眾文化之虛華的反思，但在這當中超華麗的卡司，又讓人發現這些明星們都玩得超開心的；別的不說，光是看年輕的艾爾頓強跟The Who搭檔演唱一曲巧妙融合了雙方風格的《彈珠台法師 / Pinball Wizard》，就超值得啦！

在安瑪格麗特身上，既有著母親的慌亂／狂亂，又不失某種年代的女性嫵媚，自頭至尾的裝扮讓她出盡鋒頭，一比之下The Who主唱羅傑道崔的參演反而更像玩票性質了。這樣一部片，或許故事仍不脫（幾乎所有音樂劇電影都讓我感覺的）「簡陋」之感，但該有的意念的呈現和拆玩，是豐富的。於此，也真是一部稱職的【奇幻影展】開跑選擇了。開心。三顆星。
