E L D E R S / Shooting the Midang Midang Music Video in Bario village was pretty bizarre because usually when we balik kampung (go back to the village) we’re in basic lounging and farming clothes. The aunties got such a joyous shock seeing me all dolled up like this. Chilling whilst the crew set up on site. When we create (music, videos, visuals), we always set out to honour our elders, ourselves, and future generations. It’s not a straightforward task of “writing a song”, or “shooting a video” but when we create we are informed and inspired by history, and we think of our place as young Kelabits within our community. Every community has artists, and every artist as a role and responsibility towards the community. We also consider what it is we want to pass on for generations to come. Like, how do you be a good ancestor ? It’s been a long learning journey, and continues to be one. Sometimes we stumble, but our elders are always there to guide us. I constantly talk to them about my work, email or msg them. This is journey is not mine alone. They are so full of love and support, it’s infectious 🤍💜 music video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZUf2hHq-EE @ Miri, Sarawak

This song and video is a collective expression dedicated by you all.
Song proceeds will go towards the legal fees of victims fighting #HongKongPoliceBrutality as well as supporting the artists of this project.

Dead streets, a shell of what once was - denying what could be - reveals a legacy that our great ancestors never wanted us to inherit. “How did it get this way?” Nobody asks; we already know the answers, repeated and beaten into our collective anxieties month after month and day after day. The truth wielded like a bloody truncheon, cracking skulls of the systemically oppressed.
I’ll tell you how I really feel. I’m scared. Scared to imagine a future where all my freedoms are taken away because I know what I’ve lost. And even so, that is nothing compared to imagining a future for a generation where they’ve no idea what freedom is. In fact, this is the present for many already, their birth right was stolen by weak men and women who deem independent thought and ideas too dangerous, and will go so far as to run tanks over any who break this narrative they desperately cling to.
But I’ll tell you what. I’m not scared of them; when I see the youth of Hong Kong and those behind them rally fearlessly in what they believe in, spitting in the face of apathy and police brutality, we’ve an entire generation who will pave ahead a time where history doesn’t repeat itself - repeat the cruelty of our would-be masters.
You who continue this protest, know that you are incredible. Ignore the hate, reject the ignorance, take each step forward with pride - pride that we control our own future. We should be forever proud to be known as Hongkongers.
Please share this song with everyone you know. Thank you for watching and listening.
Until then, be water. Be safe. Be Free.
Glory to Hong Kong.

Ever since I met Okinawa culture, I always want to become a part of it.
I studied Okinawa since its Ryukyu-era,I’m trying to add the spirit of Nature-worship…as if I’m enchanted by the culture of Okinawa.
The more I study about the battle of Okinawa and its history, the more my heart hurts. Even I ; a person who has no roots in Okinawa, feel like my heart tear into pieces. I can’t even imagine how Okinawa people stayed sane.
I am against war no matter what.
I want to respect all the natures that exist on this earth, and precious lives of living people.

Giap's Original Video:https://youtu.be/LgAED4TBPN8
After 1975, hundreds of thousands of people from Vietnam got on boats to leave post war. Those who survived the seas made it to refugee camps all over Southeast Asia, from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, to Hong Kong. And eventually, some had a chance to resettle in America, Canada, Australia, and many parts of Europe. This is a story about three friends who found each other after 40 years. I met Giap in New Jersey a few years ago and he asked me to make a video about his life story. I agreed and after publishing it, two of Giap's refugee camp friends, who were also viewers of this channel, recognized him and saw themselves in my video. They reached out and I connected them to Giap. Giap connected his friends Thanh from Los Angeles and Phuong from San Diego together. They met right away. Giap also met Phuong two years ago in Da Nang. But Giap just met Thanh and the three of them were finally together after 40 years.
