Reminiscing Sabah Fest digitally!

One of Sri Pelancongan Sabah’s proud event projects is Sabah Fest - an event that is held to celebrate the colourful and rich culture of Sabah. The event incorporates traditional dance, music, food and more!

Back in 2016, we brought Gulu Gulu to the stage. The title carries the meaning of “a long time ago” in Kadazan Dusun term, where it focused on the adventures of the legendary Sabah warrior, Mat Salleh.

This place itself is a mini museum where you find yourself surrounded by works of Master Au-Yeung. As the 68 year-old State Theatre Building 皇都戲院大廈 is going to rebuild soon, most shops in the building have relocated. ⁣

King Wah Signboard 京華招牌is the second last shop to have moved out the building. It was relocated to 40 Kam Ping Street , North Point (behind Metropole Department Store) a few days ago. ⁣
Support local business by visiting Master AuYeung. Master AuYeung is very talkative and friendly.⁣
Just write down the word or phrase of your choice and it took less than 15 minutes for Master AuYeung to finish the piece. The word 港 (Kong), meaning Hong Kong, took Master AuYeung 15 mins to write and cut, which costs HKD$100. This session engages with curatorial practice in Taiwan and Scotland while also delineating various creative practices, such as improvisation. The session will also showcase the performance ‘Intermezzo,’ a dream-like hymn for the body in everyday life presented in musical chapters based on the intermezzo. The social meaning its three actors convey is inherent in the history and condition of individual bodies impacted by cerebral palsy, polio, visual impairment and a traffic accident. Their collective stage presence welds together several ‘body stories,’ the structural base of which is a field of computerised music and on-site piano improvisation subtly enhanced by contrasting lighting. The performers were encouraged to use their imaginations to jump out of daily conventions and restraints, inventing new stage aesthetics while coming to terms with old hindrances. The key to rewriting their stories of the body was to re-activate their core movements and reveal, on stage, the truths of their lives.

60 A Minute 在作品『與時間牽手』的結構核心，是採用心理學角度作為出發，觀者在60個一分鐘的結構裡，體驗大腦對時序、時距和時點的不同感知，證明時間是主觀和人性化的，不同人對其意識程度和認知也有不同。

在董怡芬的編舞經驗中，「時間」一直在她的創作元素裡佔有極大且重要的位置，時間長度地掌握也一直是創作裡非常重要的功夫，巧妙運用時間的長短與快慢變化，產生所需的效果傳達。時間是一條持續向未來延伸的長線，20世紀的天才哲學家海德格（Martin Heidegger），把人生描繪為不斷做選擇並「被拋向未來」的存在。此製作其最終目標並非在於辯證出時間理論其正確性，而是藉此製作處理一向以時間推進為主要感官知覺的觀舞方式，能夠有其他的閱讀機會。安娜琪舞者一向擅長處理現場表演與觀眾之間的對應關係，在精細舞蹈編排設定後，時而慘入對時序的打破、時而對現實時間的推移做改變、時而藉由空間的流轉改變時間的定義。

The core structure of “60 A Minute” derives from a psychological perspective. In 60 one-minute-sections, the audience find themselves experience time order, time interval, and timing differently, proving that how we perceive time is subjective, human-centered, and variant among one another.

In I-Fen Tung’s choreography, “time” has been a constant key element. She values the mastering of time, utilizing different time length and speed to create the desired effects in her pieces. Time is a continuous extension into the future. Martin Heidegger, a renowned philosopher of the 20th century, depicts life as incessant decision-making and “being tossed towards the future”.

The aim of this production is not to debate the theory of time, but to generate an alternative to the usual perception of viewing dance in the chronology of time. Anarchy Dance Theatre excels in creating strong interfaces between audience and live performance. Their choreography, delicate and well thought out, integrates the shatter of time order, the shifting of real-time, and the influence of space transformation towards the meaning of time.

Exactly as of today as i upload this vlog. I have 25 days left. OMG!!!!!!

I finally registered myself for the competition Battle of the Freaks 2 happening 6th May at PJ Live Arts Theatre.

In this vlog, I explain a bit more on the competition i'm taking part in. I'm still very new to the bodybuilding industry and jargons, but from my understanding, there a number of different federations out there. Each has it's own categories and own set of rules.

For Battle of the Freaks, it is under NABBA-WFF. NABBA stands for National Amateur Body-Builder's Association and WFF is World Fitness Federation.

"NABBA and WFF are separate organisations but are affiliated. This provides additional benefits for members and competitors. Each Federation seeks a different 'look'. NABBA tends to cater for the more muscular physique and WFF favours a more athletic look. Both Federations attract a high level of male and female competitors at state, national and international level." - taken from nabba.com.au

I'll break it down simply there 3 categories for male and female. Tall And Short where you can join to try for your pro card and then there is the Novice Open category for those who have never competed before.

The judging involves the following
Round 1 - T Walk - whereby you have to hit 5 points on stage
Round 2 - Quarter Turns -
Round 3 - Quarter Turns - for muscularity

Hope this gives you a bit of insight on the comp that I'm taking part. So you see it's not all about looking ripped or lean on stage. Posing is a big criteria and how you look for your presentation including stage presence.

25 days.. 25 days..

To add on to more complications. I didn't rest well this week, as you can tell in the vlog, while i may look fine at some points in the video, I was really trying to keep it together for the camera. Fighting off either a headache, a sorethroat and the beginnings of a flu.

I've learnt another lesson, when i'm at the beginning stage of getting sick, meaning with a sorethroat. Dont' be a smart ass and train. I did my usual training and then cardio on sat.. that just killed me on Sunday. Body completely said fudge it all. Even now i'm still recovering, but loads of water is helping out. I gotta say after 3 litres of water, my skin does feel better, but i also feel terribly weak.
