We made our first trip to Thomson Nature Park, yippee!
It was a good walk that we did as a family, despite the occasional nagging and bickering that has become part and parcel of our lives. There were dark clouds looming and we could hear thunder too but luckily, we still managed to complete the Streams and Ferns Trail (1.4km) and Rambutan Trail (0.4km), phew.
Well, that wasn't a lengthy distance, I know, but having three kids and a 3-month-old made it seem way longer than that. Along the way, we spotted insects like dragonflies, spiders, ants, butterflies, frogs, grasshoppers, as well as bugs and a caterpillar that we have not seen before. That is why these nature walks are so interesting because you never know what you might come across.
Hoping we will keep up this adventurous spirit as a family and that we will keep exploring, keep learning and keep hiking.
Happy Monday and have a good week ahead, people!

Taking a short break. Will be on leave till 11 June. Mostly staying home to catch up with reading, experiment with photo apps, and try home delivery meals :) .
Look forward to venturing out again when restrictions ease. Stay safe and healthy everyone! – LHL

Took this picture while I was on a #jalanjalan at Thomson Nature Park back in March. These critters are shy and very nimble so I was lucky to have spotted it. There are interesting sights all over our city in a garden. You just have to look around and not at your handphone so much! 😉 – LHL

With travel temporarily halted, we decided to explore the hidden gems within Singapore. Join us as we explore Thomson Nature Park, the 50-hectare buffer park unique for its rich cultural heritage as the site of a former Hainan Village. Thomson Nature Park is also home to a rich array of biodiversity and is notably a key conservation site for the critically endangered Raffles’ Banded Langur.
There are five trails within this park: Ruins and Figs Trail (1.50km), Streams and Ferns Trail (1.40km), Rambutan Trail (0.40km), Langur Trail (0.35km), and Macaque Trail (0.15km). Although we weren't fortunate enough to spot the elusive Raffles' Banded Langur on our multiple trips here, we did manage to catch wild boars and plenty of cheeky macaques.
May our videos be a form of escapism and source of zen for you, and encourage you to appreciate the little, simple things in life. Even in these turbulent times, there is still much beauty in this world if we keep our hearts and minds open.
Cheers!
