วันนี้ (25 พ.ค. 63) ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า เฟซบุ๊กเพจ PDRC ศูนย์วิจัยโรคปรสิต สำนักวิชาแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี โพสต์ข้อความว่า ท่านที่ชอบเลี้ยงแมวต้องหมั่นตรวจสุขภาพ

ผู้ป่วยชายอายุ 30 ปีรายหนึ่งมีรอยโรคขนาด 5 มิลลิเมตรที่ตาขวา และขนาดเกือบ 1 มิลลิเมตรที่ตาซ้าย ผลตรวจต่าง ๆ มีความสัมพันธ์กับการโรค Chorioretinal Toxoplasmosis ที่เกิดจากติดเชื้อโรคขี้แมวขึ้นสมองหรือ Toxoplasma gondii

โดยเชื้อนี้มักพบในสัตว์เลือดอุ่นโดยเฉพาะแมว พบได้ทั่วโลก คนติดต่อโดยกินเนื้อที่ปรุงไม่สุก กินอาหาร ดื่มน้ำที่มีการปนเปื้อนมูลแมวที่มีเชื้อ การสัมผัสกับบริเวณดิน หรือกะบะเลี้ยงแมวแล้ว ล้างมือไม่สะอาด การถ่ายเลือด ปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะและถ่ายทอดผ่านรกจากแม่สู่ลูก

ในภาวะปกติ คนปกติผู้ที่ติดเชื้อมักไม่แสดงอาการ หรือมีอาการคล้ายไข้หวัด ต่อมน้ำเหลืองโต และกดเจ็บบริเวณศีรษะและคอ ปวดหัว มีไข้ ปวดกล้ามเนื้อ เจ็บคอ แต่ถ้าเป็นผู้ป่วย HIV หรือมะเร็ง อาจมีอาการที่รุนแรงขึ้น เช่น มึนงง มีไข้ ปวดหัว สายตาพร่ามัว ชัด คลื่นไส้ การประสานงานของร่างกายไม่ดี
