按摩方法大不同
一次舒適到位的按摩,可讓人消除疲勞、紓緩肌肉繃緊帶來的不適,甚至紓解情緒壓力。然而按摩手法繁多,推拿、推油、指壓、泰式按摩、腳底按摩等等,你知道它們的分別嗎?
💆🏻 中醫推拿按摩
以治療為目標的按摩,中醫師先了解患者體質及病況,會按經絡循行及穴位,以推拿、按摩以至針灸方式作治療,有助紓緩痛症。
💆🏻 推油
加入香薰精油進行按摩,讓精油滲入皮膚之中,按摩時充斥着香薰味道。推油按摩必需脫去衣物進行,由於全身抹有精油,皮膚會較為滋潤。
💆🏻 指壓
按摩師利用手指對全身經絡、穴道進行按壓,亦會針對痠痛位置進行按、揉、撥等動作,紓緩肌肉緊繃。指壓會隔着衣服進行,通常不使用工具。
💆🏻 泰式按摩
從古印度傳入泰國的按摩手法,以活動關節為主,較為大動作,類似被動式瑜珈,按摩時穿著較柔軟衣服。
🦶🏻 腳底按摩
人體五臟六腑在腳底都有相應的反射區,按摩腳底有助血氣循環,暢通血脈,有助紓緩相對應臟腑的症狀。
除了由註冊中醫師主理的推拿按摩,其餘按摩方式均為保健方法,有助減壓,促進氣血運行,強化筋骨肌肉,但未必是最適合的治療方法,如患有持續筋骨肌肉痛症,「揼骨」後症狀未有改善,宜向註冊中醫師或專業人士求診治理。

Different types of massages
A good massage can relieve fatigue, stress, and the tension in our muscles. There are so many types of massage services available in the market. Do you know the differences?
💆🏻 Traditional Chinese massage (‘tui na’)
Mainly for treatment purposes. After understanding the patients’ body constitution and health condition, Chinese medicine practitioners will then identify and massage the Meridian and acupoints on the body. They might also use acupuncture to relieve pain.
💆🏻 Oil massage
Massage using essential oils. The essential oils, which will give out fragrance, will then seep into the skin. During the session, clients will have to remove their clothes. The essential oils applied on the body will also moisten the skin.
💆🏻 The Shiatsu massage (‘zhi ya’)
Shiatsu massage therapists will massage the Meridian and acupoints of the body using their fingers. They will also press and rub to relieve muscle soreness on specific body parts. During the session, clients are fully clothed. Generally, the massage therapists do not need additional equipment to complete the session.
💆🏻 Thai massage
Inherited from ancient India, the techniques focus on the joints. Thai massage involves yoga-like big moves. During the session, clients have to put on a set of thin and soft clothes.
🦶🏻 Reflexology (foot massage)
There are reflective zones on our foot soles that represent our internal organs. A foot massage can aid the circulation of blood and qi and relieve symptoms when the functions of the internal organs are disrupted.
Besides the treatment-based traditional Chinese massage, the other massages focus more on relieving stress, improving the circulation of qi and blood, and strengthening the muscles and tendons. They might not be the best options for those with more severe medical conditions. Patients who experience continuous musculoskeletal disorders should consult registered and licensed Chinese medicine practitioner or medical experts.

湊仔爸:「5歲小朋友經常不開胃,長輩著我給他喝坊間的開胃茶,有用嗎?」
CheckCheckCin:如果小朋友長期食慾不振、食量減少,或者食量比同齡正常兒童少,而沒有腹部脹滿、大便酸臭等伴隨症狀,就屬於厭食的情況,可以煲煮穀芽麥芽開胃茶飲用調理,穀芽、麥芽有消食化滯、健脾開胃的功效。飲用茶療的同時,建議少吃多餐,從他感興趣的食物著手誘導開胃,飯菜亦宜多樣化引起他的食慾,注意飯前不宜吃零食以免影響正餐胃口,但切勿強逼進食惹起反效果。要注意最近天氣悶熱對胃口都有所影響,小朋友間中一兩餐吃少一點也不打緊,想飲用現成的開胃茶要注意成份,如果父母未能掌握小朋友的體質是否適合飲用,建議諮詢註冊中醫師。
穀芽麥芽開胃茶
功效:適合消化不良、無胃口、飯後胃脹不適等症狀。
材料:粟米連鬚1根、紅蘿蔔1根、穀芽15克、麥芽15克、冰糖少許
做法:材料洗淨,粟米去皮切段。鍋內加入1000毫升水,加入所有材料,武火煮至水滾,改文火煮30分鐘,加入適量冰糖調味即可。
備註:建議一星期連續飲3-4日。麥芽有回乳功效,哺乳中女士不宜飲用。

Appetite boosting tea
“My 5-year-old child have always had a poor appetite. The elders advised me to let him drink the appetite stimulating tea that can be commonly found in the market. Do they really help?”
CheckCheckCin: If a child is experiencing prolonged loss of appetite, reduced food intake, or having lesser appetite when compared to other normal children of the same age, without the symptoms of abdominal distension and foul-smelling stool etc., the child is said to be showing signs of anorexia. One can prepare millet sprout and malt tea as remedy to condition the body and improve appetite. Millet sprout and malt are effective in promoting digestion, strengthening the spleen and stimulating appetite.
In conjunction with the tea therapy, it is advisable to have smaller but more frequent meals, and proceed to stimulate the appetite using the child’s favorite food. An increase in the variety of food or dishes can help to stimulate the child’s appetite. Be careful not to snack before meals as that may affect the child’s appetite for the actual meal itself. But remember not to force the child into eating, otherwise all the efforts might backfire.
Besides, do take note that the recent muggy weather may affect appetite as well, so it is alright for the child to have one to two meals less than usual. Before taking any ready-made appetite stimulating tea, please check the ingredients. If parents are unsure whether the child is suitable to take the tea, please consult a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner.
Malt and Rice Sprout Tea
Effects: Suitable for indigestion and poor appetite, stomach bloating and discomfort.
Ingredients: 1 ear of corn with corn silk, 1 carrot, 15g rice sprout, 15g malt, rock sugar to taste
Preparation: Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel carrot and cut into pieces. Peel corn, keeping silk and cut into pieces. Combine all ingredients with 1000ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add rock sugar to taste.
Note: For best results, drink consecutively for 3-4 days. Malt reduces milk supply, and is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers.
✔Recommendation: Oats rice water
Effects: Improves excessive sweating, reduces water retention and relieves constipation
