Welcome to Chiayi County
The purpose of the English Services Emblem is to encourage service providers in the private sector to work with the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC) of the Executive Yuan in building an English language environment, improving the English ability of service personnel, and helping to resolve issues encountered by foreigners visiting and living in Taiwan. The five major categories of services covered by the project are shopping, lodging and dining, tourism, medical services, and transportation, which were identified by foreigners as the service areas where assistance for improvement was most needed. In 2011, the project was expanded to include a wider range of services, with 44 different types of service providers receiving certification. By increasing the availability of friendly English services, the English Services Emblem project reduces the language barrier for foreigners in Taiwan, and makes their life here easier and more convenient, and at the same time helps to step up the modernization and international competitiveness of our country’s service sector.
