The last day of our Europe trip was spent in the ancient ruins of Pompeii. I love anything that is steeped in rich history and I highly recommend a visit to this fascinating city. Not only was I astounded by how detailed and progressive the architecture was but the Romans really were quite an innovative bunch.
Fun fact: the raised stone blocks I'm stepping on were put there by the Romans especially so that pedestrians could cross the streets without having to ever step on the actual street, which back in those days doubled up as the city's sewage disposal system (gross I know!! 😝). The spaces in between the raised stone blocks were there so that not only the city's waste could flow through, but also so that animals and vehicles could pass through.
