A lot of entrepreneurs fail the game of business HARD because they’re afraid.
Now, don’t get me wrong, this was exactly how I used to operate at the beginning of my career.
I would micromanage every contractor or employee I was working with because I wanted to make sure things got done my way.
Can you guess what the problem with that is?
If you want to grow your business, you can’t keep micromanaging every team member you have. There’s just not enough time and energy to do that, right?
So, if you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, a business owner, a freelancer, or an influencer, here’s what I’ve learned through my 23+ years in business.
You have to put your ego aside and be okay with things not being done exactly the way you want to.
Once you do this, you’ll quickly reap the rewards of much less stress and more time to do the things you enjoy and are good at in business!
Comment below. I’m curious to know your thoughts on this.

Yesterday was quite a hard day cuz I got a second opinion confirming that my kitchen island has to be dismantled to get the 1st floor bathroom pipe fixed. Why does it have to be this pipe? 🥲 I meant just look at my grey quartz curvy island, my newly painted, patterned PHOMI Malaysia wall and my fancy Nano Shield Inovar Floor Malaysia laminate flooring. I know there’s a solution but it’s just too much, I’ll risk damaging them all.
Please do respect that I do not want to reveal the developer/location for privacy reason, they’re taking responsibilities for now. I’ll do it the right way without causing unnecessary prejudice.
Here’s what I learnt:
1. When you do defect checks after taking your keys, outsource to another plumber to check, then claim the defects fixes with your developer. (My neighbour did this but some unexpected problems still popped after moving in)
2. Ask your developer contractor roughly where the hidden pipes are IN the wall to avoid hitting the pipes in the wall when you drill water heater/water filter on. (Leakage in the wall is GG)
3. You’ll NEVER KNOW until you really move in and STAY/USE for a period of time. If you can, try showering and using the toilets before renovation. Thank goodness I did not do any renovation for my bathrooms and the 1st floor, so I can prove that it’s a developer defect.
4. Always look out for random water puddle in the bathroom, it could be pipe/faucet leakage.
5. Check your water meter frequently when you first move in, you might be able to spot any problem early.
6. Do not be afraid, your last resort is to file complaint to KPKT if a developer defect isn’t fixed.
Praying that FMCO ends well and soon, so the carpenter and plumber can work together to give me a comfortable home. Until then, I shall stay stress-free and happy #homewithdaph

Tonight, I share with you a fraction of my heart. A small part of my beautiful home, the sanctuary, is complete. (just a tiny part but a very special one that means a lot to me)
.
As the chandelier went up this evening, I wasn't even conscious of the tears rolling down my cheeks. And when I did, I quickly wiped them off because I didn't want to leave the contractor wondering (lol). I waited for them to leave and rested for a bit. When the skies turned dark, I switched the lights back on and stood here, embracing every bit of what you're looking at now.
.
Months of hardwork, focus, dedication and consistency led me to where I am today. Nothing was easy or for 'free'. It was pure effort. I worked round-the-clock so that I can get more funds for myself, to continue the renovation works and I still am. Some works are on hold because I don't have enough money to go on. I've had sleepless nights just worrying about the sanctuary. I'm not special. I'm just like you. I work hard for I want and sometimes I breakdown in fear of the unknown.
.
But when I stood here, looking at this completed piece, I remembered that I had in me. I still do. The power to create. The power to believe. My heart is full. This is just a small part of the sanctuary, but it means the world to me now because whenever I feel like I can't go on, this place will remind me why I can. And I will.
.
love & light,

If there is one MAJOR difference between the #firehouse and the #stonehouse builds, its that I'm doing this one through the #winter...in the mountains. Brutal. So I was very keen to get my Trane units fired up and get some heat into these walls! And having lost power at least 6 times since the start of this renovation, I am very pumped to get my Kohler 20kW whole home backup generator on site and ready for install!!!

There is nothing quite like having heavy machinery show up to your property, along with some seriously skilled operators, to watch them make quick work of transforming your backyard from what is...to what you designed. ??

I'd be lying if I said this is one of the more interesting vlogs, but it is super important; having a dialed schedule is critical to the success of your project. Now, don't think you need to be as involved as I am in this, I've been doing this for over 15 years, so I can drive a lot of this conversation and push for certain efficiencies. That said, I would definitely encourage you to sit with your GC and go through the entire job schedule. At the very least, it gives you a baseline to always come back to and evaluate whether you are on scheduled or falling behind.
I use Asana, as they have a pretty decent Gantt chart view, so I can use it as my general task manager and the project timeline as well. It doesn't matter what software you use so long as it works for you.
