=================================
・get a present(プレゼントをもらう)
・get a message(メッセージ受け取る)
・get advice(アドバイスをもらう)
<例文>
I got a new laptop for my birthday.
I got a text from Mike and he said he's running 10 minutes late.
Who do you usually get advice from?
I got a speeding ticket this morning.
例えば、「仕事に就く・仕事が決まる」は get a job、「良い成績を取る」は get good grades、「昇進する」は get a promotionと表します。 は「How much does he get a month?」
<例文>
It took me a couple of months but I finally got a job.
I got good grades when I was in high school.
I heard you got a promotion. Congrats!
It's an easy job. I get 20 bucks an hour just for watching the dogs.
と聞く場合は「What are you going to get?」
<例文>
I really like your scarf. Where did you get it?
You already got the iPhone 12? Did you pre-order it?
I'm thinking about getting the B.L.T sandwich. What are you going to get?
Don't worry. I'll get it today.
日常会話では、go and get ____ のように表すことが多く、例えば「僕が取り行くよ」は「I'll get it.」または「I'll go and get it.」 と聞く場合は「Can you get me?」または「Can you come and get me?」、「迎えに行くよ」は 「I'll get you.」もしくは「I'll go and get you.」
✔「迎えに行く」はgo and get、「迎えに来る」はcome and getで覚えましょう。
<例文>
I'll get it for you. What do you want to drink?
I'm going to go and get Hiro from the train station.
Oh no. I forgot my mask. I need to go back to the car and get it.
この表現は、「I don't get it.」
<例文>
I think I'm starting to get it. Let me practice a little more.
Why is that funny? I don't get it.
Do you get what he's saying? It makes no sense to me.
Have you been waiting long?(遅れちゃってごめんね。
<例文>
There's so much traffic. What time do you think we'll get there?
Have a safe flight! Message me when you get to Okinawa.
I got home, took a shower and went straight to bed.
状態の変化を表す時は一般的に getting ____ の形式が使われ、例えば、「疲れてきた」は 「I'm getting tired.」、「お腹が空いてきた」は「I'm getting hungry.」、「寒くなってきた」は「It's getting cold.」
その他、「〜しやすい」をget ____ easilyと表現することができ、例えば、「私が暑がりです」は「I get hot easily.」、「彼は飽きっぽい」は「He gets bored easily.」、「彼女は嫉妬深い」は「She gets jealous easily.」
<例文>
I'm getting hungry. Do you want to grab dinner soon?
It's getting chilly these days. It's starting to feel like autumn.
I carry around a blanket with me because I get cold easily.
例えば、「風邪を引いた」は「I got a cold.」、「インフルエンザにかかった」は「I got the flu.」、「彼は病気になった」は「He got sick.」 ちなみに、「頭痛がする」は「I got a headache.」、「熱がある」は 「I got a fever.」、「喉が痛い」は「I got a sore throat.」
<例文>
It sounds like you got the flu. Drink a lot of water and rest up.

I think I got a cold. I got a fever and a sore throat.
<例文>
I finally got my dad to stop smoking cigarettes.
I can't get my son to do his homework. What do you think I should do?
My cat pees all over the house. How can I get her to pee in her litter box?
--------------------------------------------------
get to do somethingは「〜する機会を得られる」を意味し、have the opportunity toのより口語的な言い方として使われます。例えば、「国際交流パーティーでいろいろな人たちとお話しすることができました」と言いたい場合は「I got to talk with a lot people at the international exchange party.」 I got an/the opportunity to ____ と表現することもできますが、日常会話ではan/the opportunityを省くことがよくあります。
<例文>
I got to travel all over the world in my twenties.
Did you get to see the autumn leaves when you were in Japan?
At the spring training camp, I got to meet some of the Dodgers' players.
例えば、「電車に乗ろう」は「Let's get on the train.」、「バスを降りよう」は「Let's get off the bus.」、「プールに入ろう」は「Let's get in the pool.」、「ここから出よう」は「Let's get out of here.」
<例文>
Get on bus number 10 and it'll take you to downtown.
This place is way too crowded. Let's get out of here.
Which stop are we getting off on? Is it the next one?

When you Can’t See the Supply
“All the congregation of the children of Israel traveled from the wilderness of Sin, by their journeys, according to Yahweh’s commandment, and encamped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink. Therefore the people quarreled with Moses, and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test Yahweh?” The people were thirsty for water there; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?” Moses cried to Yahweh, saying, “What shall I do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.” Yahweh said to Moses, “Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb. You shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.”(Exodus 17:1-6 WEB)
The name of the place “Rephidim” in the wilderness of Sin means “place in the desert”. When the children of Israel were encamped at Rephidim, they were thirsty and there was no water source in sight.
This represents a situation in life where you can’t see the supply. It’s like you feel trapped with no possible way out.
When we walk by sight, we will be more conscious of the lack.
However, when you trust God, you will know that even in an ‘impossible’ situation, God has already prepared the supply that you need.
God will bring the water of supply out of the rock for you.
“and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.” (1 Corinthians 10:4 WEB)
The apostle Paul taught us the revelation that the rock was a picture of Christ.
God brought nourishment and life out for us when Christ was stricken. When did this happen?
At the cross, Jesus was punished for our sins so that we could receive His righteousness, and obtain every blessing from God.
In whatever desert situation you find yourself in now, keep your eyes on Jesus. The water you need to quench your thirst will come from Christ who was stricken for your sake!

Get rid of water retention and double chin
How can we get that V-shaped face?
This world is obsessed with edited photos. Posts of pretty women often flood our IG, but when we see them in person, we will realize their photos are all photoshopped. What a disappointment!
Instead of spending hours editing our photos, why not focus on improving our actual appearance? Once we get that V-shaped face based on the tips below, we don’t need to waste time on editing our pictures anymore.
1. Prevent water retention
A V-shaped face might turn into a U-shaped face as a result of water retention! From the perspective of Chinese Medicine, water retention occurs because organs are not performing their functions optimally, hence causing the fluid in the body to stagnate.
Individuals with asthenic yang and qi, as well as those with the phlegm-dampness body constitution can develop water retention more easily because they do not have qi to promote the circulation of bodily fluid. Hence, it is important to regulate our body based on our body constitution.
Besides, sleeping and waking up late, eating salty, spicy, raw, and cold foods can also contribute to water retention. Remember to drink a good amount of water. Drinking a cup of rice water daily can help strengthen the spleen and dispel dampness in the body.
2. Massage the acupoints on the lower jaw
According to the Chinese Medicine theories, ‘the face reflects the health of the five internal organs’. Massaging the acupoints on our face will help tighten the skin and improve complexion.
Massage the ‘Xia Guan’, ‘Jia Che’, Da Ying’, and ‘Xia Chen Jiang’ acupoints along the lower jaw. Exert pressure on the four acupoints with the fingertip for 5 seconds. Repeat the process 3 – 5 times a day to relieve water retention and tighten the skin.
3. Avoid becoming a phubber
We tend to tilt our heads downwards when staring at the screen of our phones, and this will cause the muscles on our lower chin to relax and get squeezed. This is how a double chin can develop! Remember to sit tall and upright when we are using our phones!
4. Adopt a suitable hairstyle
A suitable hairstyle can frame our face. Those with short hair can go for a bob haircut. The hairstrands that curled inwards can frame the jawline. Individuals with mid-length or long hair can opt for side parting and keep the bangs long. This can help conceal the large masticatory muscles around your cheeks.
✔CheckCheckCin Recommendation: Edema
Ingredients: Chinese yam , hyacinth bean coat, poria, dried citrus peel
Effects: Strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Relieves bloatedness, lower-body bloating and eyelid swelling.

Kopivosian!
As a disclaimer, my husband MANager Joe writes and creates the thumbnail so I was a bit #rolleye but hey! Let's have fun lah. (The reason behind this title is simply because I made a cameo in Marsha and Velvet's much loved hit "Sumandak Sabah" which has lyrics going "Sumandak Sabah ...mana ko mau cari? Semua lawa-lawa pandai masak nasi!")
Anyhoo...in light of the Kaamatan & Harvest Festival celebrations coming soon (Harvest Festival is a celebration to thank a bountiful harvest of rice) - I've themed our D'Varomas Live Cooking Show "Borneon with a Twist".
So what was cooked today?
1. Refreshing Lemonade with Asam Boi by Rifqi
2. Quick Steamed Mantou Buns by Suzie Alias
3. Lazy Mom's Tuna Sushi Balls by Aisyah Wahab and
4. Soup Ayam Lihing by Daphne Iking
I'd like to thank my Sales Advisors Mas Era and her 14 year old son Rifqi, Suzie and Aisyah for being my co-presenters of our #DVaromas Weekly LIVE show, as well as my wonder leaders in D'Varomas for sharing and commenting over the LIVE earlier.
Why the following menu?
1. Lemonade is our a well-known favourite beverage of most Thermomix users. Plus it demonstrates the TURBO power of the TMX where we can grind the rock sugar to powdery goodness in just 2 seconds! Add 2 cut lemons (with peel intact) with cold water, TURBO another 2 seconds and voila! It's done! Popped an asam boi cause we Sabahans love our Kit Cai Ping (kasturi drink with asam boi) so this is the twist in our much loved beverage.
2. Sabah is known for it's seafood. Dip your mantou buns (Steam or fried) with your Kam Heong Prawns or Chili Butter Crab ... delish!
3. Aisyah shows us how EASY and healthier and CLEANER it is to cook rice using the "simmering basket method". No grain of rice is wasted and her easy to make sushi rolls are definitely going to be a hit amongst my kiddos!
and finally
4. Sup Ayam Lihing (Chicken Rice Wine) is a popular soup of the Kadazandusun community. Usually I would use Ayam Kampung, but I only had chicken breasts so I had to make the broth in advance. Add a bit of lihing or rice wine and hmmmmm. Heaven!
Hope you enjoy the show! Let us know in the comment box what recipes would you like on our next DVA show!

No matter how much you sleep, exercise,
or drink an entire lake full of water everyday...
You just can’t get rid of those dark eye panda eyes that make you look grumpy people think you hate everyone in the entire universe! Even if it’s true, you don’t need panda eyes to tell them that.
Sometimes, panda eyes are not our fault! You are simply the victim of GENETICS!
Like SKIN PIGMENTATION or just THIN/TRANSPARENT UNDER EYE SKIN.
In this video I will give you different solutions to tackle your case of panda eye. All of them are affordable and can be done at home, and even trying out just one of these tricks will make your dark circles less prominent.
Let’s start!
DARK CIRCLE SOLUTION NUMBER 1
CHARCOAL for loose, discolored skin
Exchange your regular face wash with a CHARCOAL SOAP! I recommend to use a soft brush to lather and give your skin a more thorough cleansing. After washing my face with charcoal soap my skin looks a lot more bright and firm. But WHY CHARCOAL? Due to it’s numerous pores created during the process of carbonization, charcoal actually has high absorptive powers You too have pores, which work like a gateway for chemicals and toxins, and components in charcoal soap do a great job at storing those toxins away, leaving your under eye bags looking fresh.
SOLUTION #2
Whitening product – Thin, discolored skin
Because of the naming you might think that the purpose of whitening products is actually to make your skin white like snow. But behold, it’s not the skin colour that we wan’t to change but the skin’s discoloration! For the most part, redness, that is.
First I use a a daily toner to kill off dead skin cells followed by a serum for moisture and nourishment.
Don’t you think the dark circles have already improved a big deal?
Next is
SOLUTION #3 DIY home remedy
You’ll need hot water
Instant Coffee
Baking Powder
Honey
Baking Sheets
Scissor
And of course a bowl! First add 2 tablespoons instant coffee, 1 sachet baking powder, 3 tablespoons of hot water, after thoroughly mixing add 1 teaspoon of honey.
The ingredients are to brighten skin and increase bloodflow! Not recommended if you have super sensitive skin.
On the baking sheet, draw 1 circle, and draw a partition to make it look like a yin & yang orb.
Cut along the partition and now you have two sheets that neatly fit on your eye bags.
Dunk them into the mixture, wait for 5 minutes, take out and apply on eyebags immediately.
Leave them on for a good 30 minutes. After taking them off your under eyebags should feel warm and have vanished a great deal.
SOLUTION #4 NIVEA FACE MASK
Exactly! The affordable classic you can get at pretty much every drug store over the world. You just need to apply a thick layer of the ointment under your eyes and wait a good 30 to 45 minutes before wiping off what hasn’t been absorbed. I feel like it always makes my skin super smooth and much brighter then before!
Note that if you’re the type of face to have deep set eyes, thin tear through an protruding eyebrow ridges like m, then this is as far as we can go with home remedies.
That’s why with SOLUTION 5 I’ll show you how to fix the remaining darkness with some makeup tricks!
For blue/purple eyes cover with pink concealer. Correct excess pink and red spots with a cool mint green, and excess green again with pink. Basically you’re using two contrasting colours to neutralize and adapt to your own skin tone.
Once that is done apply one thin layer of concealer, followed by a second thick layer of concealer, which instead of blending you let sitting for around 6 minutes. During this time the concealer will thicken so only blend the edges. This method conceals your dark circles even more than if you just went straight on to blending. Finish off with loose powder.
If your face now looks plain apply natural lip balm, which you can also use as cheek colour and a tad bit on the outer corners of your eye to make your face look like it actually has good blood circulation!
As for mascara, it can actually help you if you only apply it on the top lashes .

[10 REASONS WHY ASIANS DON'T GET FAT]
Now of course, there are Asians who are fat or chubby, so the title is a bit of a generalized statement or stereotype, but as a whole, there's definitely some truth to it. Genetics is an obvious factor so I'm gonna leave that one off the list.
1. Fish & Seafood
Asians eat a lot of seafood. The biggest benefit to eating fish is the omega-3 fatty acids. Fish gives our brain and body the DHA & EPA it needs. EPA in particular has been shown to prevent obesity. 1.5 to 2 grams daily of fish oil can produce weight loss of a couple pounds over a period of a month.
2. Cooking Methods
If you compare Western and Asian eating habits, sure they both consume deep fried foods, but Asian countries vary their cooking methods a lot more.
3. Food Perception
How people see and experience food can be different depending on where you are. In America, for example, food is seen more as entertainment. There is desire, joy and anticipation associated with eating. Not that it isn't in Asian countries, but it's a lot more toned down. Eating has more of a practical feel, in many cases closer to being a chore rather than entertainment.
4. Portion Size
Asians eat smaller portions. Food is often served in small serving bowls and small plates and this helps regulate how much is consumed in one sitting. Now if we take a look at America? SUPERSIZE!
5. Leafy Greens
Asian portion size in general might be smaller, but their vegetable portion size is consistently larger. In many Asian countries, people don't even need to be reminded to eat their veg. It's just ingrained.
6. Drink Habits
It is a common belief that drinking water, especially cold water, with your meal is a habit that one should avoid, as it dilutes your digestive enzymes and makes it harder for your stomach to digest food. Americans often drink cold water or sodas with their meals, not so much for Asian people however. Rather they drink hot teas before or after a meal. I should note that many experts say this is greatly exaggerated and that it's generally ok to drink water with your meals.
7. Population Density
Many Asian countries & cities are densely populated. There are lots of people living in small apartments and almost everything you need is just round the corner. Leading one to possibly conclude that many Asian people must exert less energy in their daily lives. In actuality, Asian people in this circumstance may end up walking more. With everything being in close proximity, they are more inclined to just walk to their destination, whereas in many Western countries, distances are often too great.
8. Fermented Foods
Asians consume more fermented foods such as miso, natto, tempeh, kimchi, kombucha, etc, and this is not just good for your gut health, but helps reduce the overall inflammation in the body. And inflammation is a contributing factor to weight gain and obesity.
9. Snacks & Desserts
This one's quite simple. Asian snacks, healthy, Western snacks, not so much. Asian snacks and desserts may be rice cakes, red beans, seaweed snacks, nuts, seeds, and lots of fruit. For Western snacks and desserts, you have cookies, chips, ice cream, sugary cakes.
10. Prevention vs Treatment
Asians practice prevention, while others practice treatment. With the Western approach, you have your antibiotics, antacids, NSAIDs, quick, temporary, remedies that might actually hurt you in the long run. The Asian approach attempts to get to the root of the problem using nutrition, healthy habits, prevention practices. It's a societal mindset. Health is not simply the absence of sickness.
