✨ YOU ARE THE CREATOR OF YOUR LIFE!
As a coach, meeting people who want to change their life is my daily work.
I call this “moving from Point A to Point B.”
Point A is where you are, with your current frustrations, problems, and challenges.
Point B is where you want to be, the life you love, the future your heart desires.
In a perfect universe, everyone would be sailing effortlessness from Point A to Point B. But this is not the universe we live in.
In our magnificent, messy universe, sometimes we don’t know what our Point B is. Other times, we are stuck in point A, held back by different forces, unable to budge an inch. And very often, we’re not moving as powerfully as we know we could.
I often said to a potential client that: “As your coach, I’m not going to say: ‘Hop on my back, Susan! I’ll carry you from Point A to Point B on hyper-speed!”
That always gets a good laugh. But they know there’s truth in it.
They know that change is hard work and that work must come from them.
But what they may not know, like Bria when she first met me, was that real change starts from within.
Most problems in our life are created by ourselves, not our job, our boss, or our mother-in-law.
𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬.
This can be a depressing statement, but it can also be empowering.
If we can create our problems, we can also make our blessing. We just need to know where to focus our creative power.

There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.
•a middle-class life 中產階級生活
•set things up 打點一切
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Unfortunately, half a year after we arrived, he left us. That was a huge shock. Our transition had already been quite difficult, as we both didn't speak English. Also, as Shanghai was such a big bustling city, Sydney felt a bit like the countryside, especially on the weekends, as no shops were open back then!
•shock 令人震驚的事件(或經歷);驚愕,震驚 (come as a great shock 讓人倍感震驚)
•a bustling city 繁華都會
★★★★★★★★★★★★
We were very much reliant on my dad, not only financially, but also as a conduit into the wider community. So to have that broken was quite distressing. I remember Mum crying a lot. As we had become socially isolated, we didn’t find out anything about Centrelink, so we survived on her savings for a while, and then got some help from her family back in China.
•be reliant on…
•a conduit into 進入...
•distressing (adj.)
•survive on her savings
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Eventually, Mum moved us down to Melbourne, where we were able to make some new networks and family friendships. But I was bullied a bit at school about things like my food and clothing! Whenever someone bullied me, I would defend myself, but because I didn’t have the language skills to explain to the teacher why, I got in trouble quite a bit. I ended up having to move school 3 times before I came to Balwyn Primary School, which was relatively multicultural.
•be able to 能夠
•make new networks 建立新的人脈,關係網
•be bullied 被霸凌
•get in trouble 惹上麻煩
★★★★★★★★★★★★
After that, I did alright. Music featured very prominently in my life. I had started learning the violin from the age of 2.5 years old and even with all the troubles that were going on in my life, had somehow still kept up with it. As a result, I got a music scholarship to Trinity Grammar School. But even there I used to get into quite a lot of mischief, and would often skip school to go to the movies.
•feature (v.)
★★★★★★★★★★★★
By the end of year 11, I was told I would have to either repeat the year, or consider going to another school, which was quite humiliating for my mum. I decided to move school and surprisingly, I ended up doing quite well in year 12! As a result, I ended up getting into a double degree in Law and Music at Monash.
•repeat the year 留級 ; 重唸一年
★★★★★★★★★★★★
When I started, my first thought was that I didn’t belong because I had done so badly in school up to year 11 and everyone else seemed so smart. But I put my head down, got through it, and ended up getting a job in the legal department of a major manufacturing company, which was a different approach to what most law students do.
•do not belong 不屬於這
•put my head down 埋頭苦幹
•the legal department of ...
•a different approach 不同途徑
★★★★★★★★★★★★
I really enjoyed it. It was hard work, but I learned a lot of foundational business, legal and corporate communication skills. After that I worked in corporate governance in RMIT, then started to moonlight as a lecturer in the Law Faculty. Eventually, they asked me if I wanted to do a PhD and I blindly said yes! I next worked at Swinburne University, and then was head-hunted to lead the corporate legal team at the Commercial Passenger Vehicles Commission.
•corporate governance
•moonlight (v.)
•headhunt (v.)

I had a good life, but after a while, I realised I wanted a different kind of job. I could see my seniors were making a lot of money but that their family life was not that good. And looking at my own upbringing, I wanted to be the kind of father who could be present in my own kids’ lives. So I decided on dentistry. It would not only allow me to use the hand skills that I had developed from playing the violin, but also the analytical and reasoning skills that I'd developed in law. Plus it would be flexible, and offer me a stable income and the chance to meet different people every day!
•analytical and reasoning skills
•offer a stable income
★★★★★★★★★★★★
My now fiancée, who was my girlfriend at the time, was also applying for further study, and coincidentally we both got into university in South Australia, so we moved to Adelaide together a few years ago.
•fiancée 未婚妻
•at the time 當時
•apply for 申請
★★★★★★★★★★★★
I was lucky to get a university job at Flinders University. Initially, I started out as a casual lecturer in the law school, but I’ve since transitioned into teaching health law and research, and I’m currently writing a few books on the intersection between law and medicine. And also, obviously, trying to finish my dentistry degree!
•start out as…
•transition into…
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Mum eventually retrained as a Chinese high school teacher, and she’s still teaching to this day. Like most first generation migrants, she struggled quite a lot, and invested heavily in my success. After we’re married, my fiancée and I are planning to have children, and I’m sure they will have it much easier than I did.
•to this day 至今
•have it much easier
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Still, a lot of the failures that I’ve had in my life have really informed a lot of my successes. Looking back, I wouldn't really want to change that to have a smoother life.
https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/inform
•have a smoother life 有一個更順遂的人生
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Over the years, I've learned that perseverance is very important. I hope that through telling my story, I can be an example to others who might be in a similar position as I was: to show that there's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.
•over the years 多年來
•be an example 成為榜樣
•be in a similar position
•down the road/line/track

why we need to change 在 Facebook 的最佳解答
"The truth is the planet is running out of resources to feed 8 billion people and, very soon, 10 billion. We have to change, whether we like it or not. So why not better prepare for the future?"
For the latest CNN Marketplace Asia, I talk to Green Monday CEO David Yeung about vegan Spam, plant-based fish, and why we need to take meat off the menu.
Yeung is a pioneer of the plant-based movement who is exporting his company's green alternatives worldwide with a popular vegan "Spam" called OmniPork. With backing from high-profile investors including director James Cameron as well as $70 million in its latest round of financing, Green Monday has introduced 's plant-based meats to 20 countries and has launched a new line of plant-based seafood.
"People are actually very surprised that 73% of global seafood consumption happens in Asia," he tells me. "The problem with the ocean is that we cannot just fish endlessly."
Yeung believes shifting Asia and the world to a more sustainable diet is crucial to our common survival.

Lyrics:
Halfway down to KO
(fuwa fuwa)
I’ll float until tomorrow
Time to get it started now
Fall to tears or laugh and jeer, just never let me go
Come and say no
Bellow echo down the road
“Oh, how I wish I could see it”
This life is so damn boring
Lonely logic loading, the lies so slick and flowing
Muddy water slowing, a buzz too bad for knowing how
It kills me, but it thrills me
Hey, keep it (keep it) going
On your feet again
Fight until there’s only power left
We’ll buddy up, you and me, we’ll take the lead
It’s destiny so chill no worries
Alright now I’m in so don’t mind
Waves of struggle? Let’s ride, surfing in the limelight
That’s right, huh
Oh damn, hear the cracks I’m in the zone
Halfway down to KO
(fuwa fuwa)
I’ll float until tomorrow
Time to get it started now
Fall to tears or laugh and jeer, just never let me go
Come and say no
Bellow echo down the road
Yeah, party until the morning
Woah woah
We’ll dance to the beat, we’ll dance to the beat
All us lonely souls will set it free now
Woah woah
The pain from below, likes in a row
Sayonara bye bye let’s go
[RAP]
You know that I’m the best around, and
imma show you right now why you dropped the crown
It's just business, babe; I gotta cop the dough
We at the blackout party so I’ll change the flow
It's just crazy how all of my critics
They call me so lazy but they cannot phase me
It’s all about the gloves on, mask off
You really wanna get down? hands up, lets go
D-D-Destatution, solutions, for feeling inadequate
Solutions of fluids the platelets will clot again
Up and down the tension
You never learn your lesson
That gushing pumping mess is everything that keeps me stressin’ my shot
Love me, I love you not
(NOT)
Watch me or watch me not
(NOT NOT)
Whining until you call out to stop it
Dancing with my lying eyes I purr purr purr
Yeah, come and give me your word, I’ll talk first
Sing ‘til we burn
[RAP]
Ay, get hit with the beatdown
My 1-2 blows and my verses are renowned
Now listen to the ground shakin’ from that bass sound
Get down to the funk, but this ain’t no uptown
Now lemme tell ya, I’m really sick of this hypocrisy
These Mephistopheles’ they probably owe me a big apology
For doubting me I know the fans are proud of me
That’s all I need so let's go
Halfway down to KO
Woah woah
We’ll dance to the beat, we’ll dance to the beat
All us lonely souls will set it free now
Woah woah
The pain from below, likes in a row
Party until the morning
Woah woah
Another round is coming Let’s go
Woah woah
I’ll see you again, survive ‘till the end
Sayonara bye bye let’s go

Translation
Cannot escape from my destiny
So I pursue salvation
Where I’m alone in the dark
Seeing someone new
Accepting gift and not knowing what they truly are
It stays in the back of my head
Curiosity turns into regret
Why does it have to be me?
There’s the answer in front of you
Because you’re special, I gotta protect you
So I accept the salvation
We gotta escape from this suffering
Now I’m awake from this long dream I had
Far away you are, I think of you
Where the end of the light is
Someday I got out of this room
I have to see so I took a step
Repaint my anxiety. Don’t look back, keep moving
Not thinking of consequences of opening this door
Why is this happening?
Hello? Please someone answer me
Why are we getting hurt?
Open your eyes and grab my hand
From now on you’re not alone
Cannot resist from my destiny
Even I wish to change
I need a reason to live
Because you’re special, I gotta protect you
So I accept the salvation
We gotta escape from this suffering
Now I’m awake from this long dream I had
Far away you are, I think of you
Wipe the deep darkness in me
Where the end of the light is
Will you be there and waiting for me?

MALAYSIA UNMASKED
Kenapa ada sifat manusia macam ini..? Susah sangat ke nak buang cara betul. Lagi kalau recycle. Saya ambil berat tentang issue ini sebab saya sayang sangat Malaysia. Ya betul, masalah ini bukan di Malaysia sahaja, mana-mana di dunia ada jugak issue macam ini, but we have to change. So jom..tukar mindset, kita nampak, kita tegur.
________________________________________
Why are we so determined to litter and ruin our environment? Is it that difficult to dispose of your rubbish properly. Let alone recycle it. Yeah I take this issue seriously in Malaysia. Why? Because I love this country and consider it my home. For sure, Malaysia isn’t the only country with this problem, most places in the world are going through the same problem, but we need to change. Before it’s too late. If you see it, call it out. Please.
