Matryoshka dolls are one of the most known symbols of Russian culture and by no means a super cute idea for a costume if you want to stand out at an event or party! In this tutorial I'll show you how you can easily transform into a big eyed russian doll with tiny lips, step by step.

For those big round eyes, I'm going to put in circle lenses. However, this is optional and the makeup will look dolly also without em!

SKIN
Get a good camouflage cream that is a tad bit lighter than your skin and apply under your eyes, nose, forehead and chin. This is to conceal and highlight at once! Make sure you cover all dull and dark spots. We need to get our skin matt and even.

Now get your normal day to day liquid base foundation and apply a sheer layer over your face to even out the colour and doll up your complexion!

Since this base makeup is quite thick, let it set for 3-5 minutes. Finish with light dabs of sheer powder so you don't disturb the colour and texture of the foundation.

EYES
Luckily, The eye makeup looks more elaborate than it actually is. Wet an eyeshadow brush and create a white base over your lid. For the colour white, I recommend to use a high pigmented eye shadow but if you don't have one then just apply 2 or 3 layers more,but give the layers at least 1 minute time to dry.
With a dry brush, apply copper up to your brow bone. Colour one third of your lower lid, too. Now, with the same colour but using a WET brush, mark your brow bone. Colours applied with a wet brush come out more intense. The stroke doesn't have to be perfect as long as you're following the natural shape of your brow bone.

On a dry angled brush, apply a dark chocolate colour and draw over the line on your brow bone. Make the end of the stroke end faintly by smudging it slightly.

Wet the brush once again and apply a finishing layer of copper.

EYELASHES
Matryoshka dolls have long eyelashes, emphasising their youth and femininity.
Apply dark and dramatic, or even theatrical under eye lashes. Glue them from the middle of your eye up to your brow bone.

Now we'll need long upper eyelashes with a flexible lash band, Stick them on your eye lid, close to the crease. Don't blink until the glue has completely dried!

Enlarging your eyes this dramatically will probably get your brows out of proportion, so make sure to elongate them as well!

One thing almost all Russian dolls have in common are their delicate, teeny tiny rosebud lips. Wet a small brush, choose the most intense scarlet in your makeup box, and with great care, follow your lip's silhouette. Let the brush slip at your mouths corner to create a wing so it looks like you're smiling. But if you're not in the mood, you can let the wings point downwards and be a grumpy matryoshka instead! :)

Pat the same colour you used for your lips on your cheek apples and blend until there are no clear edges to be recognised.

HAIR

If your hair is long then this style will be super simple. Just twist a braid for each side of your hair. Pull the ends up to the top of your head and fix all areas well with bobby pins.

All that's left to do now is to cover your head with a shawl and tie a ribbon! Here I'm wearing a real Russian hand painted Pavlovo shawl like a real babushka! Other patterns I recommend for the Russian doll look are POLKA DOT, LACE or a simple red scarve looks cute too! I'm gonna show you my minimal makeup for school!

A young face shouldn't be caked in makeup, so we're going to skip an all over foundation, and use the basics to make your face prettier, without letting people notice that you're actually wearing makeup.

Now, let's start and take the first step!
Toning your face: The best toner for any skin type would be a splash of cold water.
I personally splash my face with cold water, 5 times, right after waking up!
It minimizes the pores and gives you a smoother skin texture. Beside that, it also refreshes your mind!

Let's moisturise our face. As for a moisturiser or base, you could also use, like me, a peach smelling sunscreen with a Sun protection factor of 50, in a pink bottle! I usually warm the lotion up between my fingers and then press it into my skin.

This right now, is a really important step! Otherwise your makeup will be kind of flaky.
Moisturiser helps keeping the texture of your makeup even and smooth.

Sun protection can be used during all seasons to protect yourself from UV rays and avoid premature aging.

Usually my bangs are getting in the way, that's why use Japanese hair styling patches to take my hair back! They are really handy and easy to store...and of course - pink!

Use a corrector in your skin tone to cover dark circles. Apply the product close to your lash line,looking upwards helps now. And blend on all dark areas of your eye. Don't forget the inner eye corner.
Cover blemishes and the reddish areas around your nose and chin with the corrector. Concealers are definitely a no-go for covering blemishes, as they are yellow toned and it will look awkward. Correctors are pink toned and they brighten your face.

Apply concealer over the corrector to lighten the dark are under your eye. Blend by pressing the concealer in the skin with your fingers. I prefer using my finger instead of a sponge, as I find that the warmth the finger contains help blending the product.

Then, set the concealer and corrector under your eye with powder. Also powder your eyelids.
Your forehead might be shiny, so apply a bit of powder there, too.

I'm using one of those handy eyebrow pencils, which include an eyebrow brush on their cover.
Just draw along the shape of your eyebrows with the pencil, as if you were drawing. Then get the brush and set the small hairs in their position. Well groomed eyebrows have a large effect on your eyes.

Mascara is a basic in every minimal makeup, but for school, one coat should be enough to make your eyes look brighter and bigger.

Avoid using lipstick, but use sheer lipgloss with a soft, natural colour like this orange here. Neither use strong colours if you wear braces, or else you will draw too much attention on them, so take care!

I usually leave my hair open and twist on both sides a strand of hair in and fix it with a bobby pin, but not with a black one, I use a white one so it doesn't stand out in my fair hair.

I recommend wearing transparent nail polish for school as it looks really nice and strengthens your nails. A simple base coat and a top coat should do it.

In this video im going to show you how to do the cute ullzang style! Basically ulzzang is a korean word that means best face. It already got popular in western countries too!! It consists of big eyes, small face, nose and mouth. Everybody can look ullzang with the right makeup! And with the time you will know the makeup that makes out the best of your face!
In this tutorial im going to show you how to achieve big eyes, a smaller face, nose and mouth, so its easy to look like a cute ullzang!

LET'S START!!

First of all, put on your circle lenses and then apply foundation!! Now, we can shade our face, to make it look smaller. For shading your face, you will need a brush, and a powder that is 3 skin tones darker than your skin.

Put the powder on your brush, and blend it with light up and down movements on your cheeks .
Get a smaller brush and repart the shading powder lighly on the sides of your nose.
Then blur the shadow upwards, just like this.
Brush the shading powder allong your jaw, and apply some on the tip of your chin. I warn you, dont use too much powder, or it will look like a beard!

Now, my right eye has got makeup on, but my left eye not. Can you see the difference?
To let your eyes appear bigger、we are going to do the following eye makeup:
Put a light milk-coffee coloured eyeshadow on your brush, and apply it from your lid to your upper crease.

Then get a darker, somewhat milk-chocolate like colour, and apply it on your eyelid.
Now we are going to choose an even darker brown colour. But this time, put the colour only on the tip of your brush and apply it on your crease.

Put a hot pink colour on your brush, and apply on the outer V of your eye.

With a light pink eyeshadow, we are going to soften the eye-makeup by dabbing it lightly on theeyelid, but without smearing anything.
With the same pink eyeshadow, highlight the lower outer lash and the outer corner.

Get a black eyeliner and line one third of your lash line. Also line your upper lash line.
Then, draw both lines to the border of your orbita and connect. Fill out the gap between your outer corner and the border of your orbita.

With a white eyeliner, we are going to line our waterline by creating the illusion of expanding the white area of your eye. Still using the white eyeliner, connect the inner corner with the inner lash line.

Apply mascara! We all know, that mascara darkens, thickens and lengthens your eyelashes. But that's not enough. To make your eyes stand out more, I highly recommend wearing fake lashes!
Use a special glue for fake lashes!
Apply some glue on the eyelash band, and wait a few seconds so it can become sticky.
Set the lashes to the middle of your lashline and adjust it to to the curvature of your eye.
Apply mascara over the fake lashes, to make them even longer and thicker.

See how much bigger the eyes are now?


Apply a light pink blush on your cheeks.
And a hot pink blush on your cheekbones!

First, apply a lipbalm.
Then, apply concealer on your lips.
Next comes foundation.

With a pink lip liner, line your lips!
Apply lipstick which is around 2 colour tones lighter than the lip liner.

Over the lipstick, apply lipgloss. The lipgloss should have a similar colour to the lipstick, or transparent.

I think that dark hair suits ulzzang style the best. Because Ive got fair hair, im going to wear a wig! The wig im going to wear has got layer and bangs. To wear a wig just style your hair in to a ponytail, then flip the ponytail over your head and put on a wig cap.

Im wearing a black bob wig! It's a popular ullzang hairstlye.
And here, im wearing a brown layered wig with bangs! Ullzang hair is simple to do. And you DONT have to got dark hair to imitate this style. Fair hair is recently popular too! If you are not sure about how to style your hair, do braids!! They always looks sweet!
